The Crooked Inn

Came here with my sister just to have a catch-up. Crooked Inn is in a beautiful quiet location. All the staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room and grounds are well maintained. Food was good. We both had a lovely stay and definitely recommend.

Friendly, welcoming hotel, breakfast was included and was very nice. Free parking on site. Quiet location. Room was very comfortable. Happy to stay again.

We had a lovely stay at the Crooked Inn. The room was very comfortable, however, 5 hangers in the wardrobe wasn't enough for a 5 night stay for us. The only other negative was that a small set of drawers would add to the room's facilities. We had to leave a lot of items in our cases, which was a bit inconvenient and hang clothes over the back of the chairs. We fully appreciate that as this is a disabled access room, spacious areas must be available, however, there is ample space beneath the tea making shelf to put a set of drawers without blocking any space. Now to the good bit; the staff were wonderful, welcoming, friendly and happy to help. We were able to get fresh milk whenever it was needed and tea bags, loo rolls topped up on request. The food was excellent with huge portions and a choice to suit most people. The room had a very comfortable bed, a nice large tv that we didn't need binoculars to watch! Lovely clean bathroom, ample supply of towels and, of course, walk in shower with a shower mat and chair. The courtyard was very pretty and the little set of table and chairs outside our room was a lovely touch. Breakfast was ample and we were able to pick and choose whatever we fancied that morning. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Crooked Inn and will definitely return if we visit the area again. Thank you everyone at the Inn.

Very dog friendly. Lovely food

Good size room with King size bed and single bed plus sofa. Plenty of room for our dog, room located on the ground floor. Pub restaurant provided excellent choice of evening meals and breakfast was hot and plentiful. The dog was allowed into the pub, restaurant and breakfast room. The chef also provided our dog with a sausage each morning for breakfast!

We were made to feel very welcome after a long wet walk with dog. The accommodations met our needs, comfy bed and hot shower. Staff very friendly and quick to serve tasty food. Very quiet and easy parking.

don't know why Hotels.com ask about a charge point - there's virtually none in Devon and Cornwall once you get outside of Plymouth and Truro so i have no idea why this would make any difference to the quality of the accommodation.... This is a great place to stay and is very well used by the locals. Ive stayed here a few times before so im happy to return whenever im in the area

We had a lovely 3 night stay here. The staff were all very friendly, the food was great. The room and bathroom were spacious and we had good tea and coffee facilities. The only negative was the bathroom felt damp probably due to the fan not staying on long enough.

The food in the restaurant was very good however on the Sunday night I ordered fish pie but I found it was cold in the middle so had to send it back. The Sunday dinner choice was very poor too. The staff were vey good and friendly but I found that the whole place really needed a good clean. Also it was a little noisy too in the court yard in the evening. Overall I would not stay here again and would not recommend to others.

lovely little complex, in a great quiet location. it is a shame that i have had to mark down due to things that can so easily be resolved such as a brken toilet seat, blocked shower and cleaning could be better with multiple spiders webs being the most obvious example. Pillows were awfull and a waste of time.dispite this we would stay again but bringg own pillows

Lovely place owner friendly and accommodating breakfast meals lovely just overall needs bit of TLC cleaning wise other than that we will stay again

Staff were helpful and both the food in the evening and for breakfast were of a good standard. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Stayed here last year but this year didn't seem so good. Staff are nice and attentive, lovely location, good sized rooms, comfy beds and very dog friendly, however, on the not so good side, it's quite pricey for what it is, and our room had a strong damp smell. Food was good, but again quite expensive e.g £8.50 for a small slice of Danish Apple Pie (served cold), which was also a bit disappointing (partly out fault for making a bad choice). Also they don't have any plant based milk alternatives, which is just odd for a pub restaurant. 'Soya milk? ... ooh no. Someone asked for that last week as well.' Hellooo? It's 2023! Doubt we will return and way too many '10/10 Exceptional' reviews here to be taken seriously.

Great food and lovely quiet little place rooms clean and tidy - proper good fry up for brekfast

Firstly the restaurant and staff were lovely. Portions were good and the quality of the evening meal and breakfast couldn't be faulted. The only issues with breakfast was the coffee was very weak and the orange juice wasn't fresh - just watered down. The room however was poor. We had a dog friendly room so i'm never sure whether places think your dog will wreck the place so give you an old room. All of the surfaces were sticky to the point my phone case had to be peeled off. The headboard was dirty, lights didn't all work, cupboards were missing handles. The worst was the bathroom where there were mould stain on most of the grouting and the expelair fan was full of muck. Also found shaving hair around the taps. I hope that we just had a bad room and that the others are nicer. It's a lovely location and i'd happily return for food but don't think we'd stay.

Room 8. Freezing cold, cob webs, spluttering shower, but most of all absolutely freezing. We did ask and get given a heater but only after wed been in bed fully clothed to try to warm up. Evening meal was ok but why put the worst chips on top of the pile? Cooked breakfast was salty. As youve guessed wouldn't use again. Cooked beakfast was very salty.

This is more of a motel than a hotel but service and staff were great. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was large and tidy. The only niggle, could have done with a non slip bath mat but I never got around to asking for one. The Food was good and plentiful and the kitchen produced our order promptly on the two nights we ate there. I would stay there again.

A go to place to stay, rooms are a bit dated but overall I like it here.

Rooms need updating, the photos make it look better than it is. Shower was cold until i found the switch outside the door to turn on the heat. Ordered food and roasted porkbelly was more like a boiled gelatinous lump that was cold in the middle. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious 😋 Breakfast, smashe avocado on toast...hmmm it was smashed with a blender as it was puree on a half toasted bun.

This was my first stay and the hotel was easy to find and set back from the main road so nice quiet location. Check-in was very straight forward and informative with a relaxed approach. The staff in the bar/restaurant were super friendly and efficient and the food was lovely. Bed was extremely comfy and had a great nights sleep. The room was well equipped with a modern bathroom although the main bedroom/hallway a little dated and could benefit modernisation. Great choice for breakfast and again check-out was easy.

Our group of four hikers really liked this place. The location is great, the rooms spacious and functional, and the staff brilliant. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. So, top marks. The only quibble was that the wine choice was extremely limited.

The room was cold radiator was put on day 3. Shower was terrible had to use the one attached to bath

We booked last minute for a one night stay. Our room was a suite which was ideal for a family of four. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast chef was really accommodating and cooked an excellent breakfast.

A property that has everything and I don’t want to be negative about the place Beautiful location (rather isolated) rooms great shower bed facilities spacious for solo travelers But check in bizarre no Interest no smile felt I walked into faulty towers couldn’t be less informative young chap on bar extremely helpful only one that was that evening then in. Morning discovered food left off bill Really does have so much potential when the best smile of your stay comes from cleaning lady you understand my frustration,. Employees have to realise customers keep you in a job I really hope they succeed here but massively up training required

Enjoyed our nights stay, friendly staff, comfortable and well equipped room. Surprisingly quiet as not far from the main road. Evening menu looked good although we only had a snack as we'd eaten earlier.

We had a fantastic 3 nights stay at the Crooked Inn. We would defiantly recommend this place, the food, drink accommodation, staff were very attentive. the evening meals are amazing huge portions and quality to go with it. The breakfasts are also fantastic. We will definitely be staying there again.

excellent evening meal

An all round nice stay with lovely staff. The food was fab at both dinner and breakfast. If I’m being picky then I would say they should put at least 1 bottle of water in the rooms and the towels were pretty crispy. However, I would definitely stay again.
