Very love area with walking paths, forest and birds, lots of birds. The dining hall, reception and lounge area are fabulous. The extra building housing non-suite rooms is very tired looking and cold, but the price reflects that, so no complaints. Staff is very helpful and attentive. I would definitely stay there again.

Although the property is run down the brilliant staff here keep a clean and shining castle. Well done to the staff. Typical best western hotel though. In urgent need of refurbishment. Spend money before it's too late .

A lovely setting with a picturesque and historic building. Rooms are either in the castle itself or in the attached wing, which seems to be slightly more modern. The bathroom is highly modern, the room less so. Overall very comfortable and well appointed. Not entirely soundproofed (corridor sounds, doors closing and some talking). Excellent dining - i enjoyed the lamb moussaka and had a great glass of Shiraz with it. Nice staff, attentive service.

Walworth Hall is a great hotel set in a castle! Everything was perfect .... well almost! We had booked a suite, which was everything we wished for except it was on the top floor! There are no lifts and so our room was only accessible by climbing the stairs. As we are both over the age of 80, this was pretty tiring! Fortunately we were only staying one night. I would definitely recommend the hotel as an amazing place to stay but if we stay there again, we would request a room on a lower floor!

We absolutely loved this castle hotel. What a wonderful feeling when pulling onto drive seeing castle tower. Checkin was quick and efficient. Room in West Wing had everything you need and nice view onto garden. Had a wander round the castle and discovered dungeon and function rooms complete with suits of armour! Enjoyed drink in lounge bar which was lovely. Nice breakfast was served in very atmospheric dining area - loved it. Mary on reception was awesome, very friendly and helpful. If ever in the area again this would be my first choice of hotel - ideal for KYREN show which if you don't know already is absolutely fantastic! Well done to all at Walworth Castle for a most enjoyable stay.

This hotel was a trip highlight. Stunning building, easy parking and delicious breakfast. Huge bathroom and possibly the cleanest we have ever seen in a hotel. Fresh air, friendly staff and we would love to have stayed longer. Special hour out to the stocks in the kids playground. Love it!

We stayed one night while visiting family nearby, we were greeted warmly at reception and provided with information about the hotel and our stay. The room was comfortable and clean and the facilities to a good standard. This is a very old building and as such some aspects were either a little dated or in need of sprucing up. But having said that there was nothing to dislike about the hotel. Staff were always really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The surroundings were beautiful. And the price was very reasonable. I would be happy to stay again.

Beautiful building and surroundings with interesting explanation of the history. Our room was OK but I wished we had spent the extra money to stay in the castle itself as in the annexe we could have been in any anonymous hotel rather than in a historic monument. It was clean and we had no issues. The service in. the restaurant was good and breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay again but upgrade to the main castle

Our room was huge, it was an amazing stay in a castle. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Food was delicious and fit for a king. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. We loved our stay at Walworth Castle.

Lovely location and staff. Shower was a bit difficult to get working and pressure was poor, but it's an old castle. Some extra charges for a cot, even though the room was booked as 2 adults with 1 toddler, not sure if hotels.com or the actual hotel's problem but something between them one way or another. Made the trip look cheaper than it was.

We stayed in a standard room which was very small ,mattress was substandard and the bathroom appears to have been housed in a cupboard the shower provided a poor level of pressure and it went from hot to nearly scalding myself. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful breakfast was fair and hot and grounds were clean and tidy.Thus could be beautiful but not working the price

We enjoyed our stay at the Castle and the staff were wonderful. The property is isolated so be prepared to stay in respect to dining etc. Our meals were delicious and the dining area was lovely. The room was small but comfortable

We stayed in Annexe part of the castle, very dated. Tiny window in our room with lots of ivy growing over so lots of spiders coming in. Room was very small. Breakfast was included the castle cooked breakfast was very poor,hardly anything on plate,i personally have to have gluten-free so all i had was 1 mushroom, 1 half piece of tomato, 2 small slices of bacon,1 poached egg,had to ask if i could have gluten-free bread,finally got 2 slices. Didn't find the staff very pleasant.

It was an amazing experience to stay in a castle. Our room was huge, beautiful, authentic and amazing. The staff were so very kind and helpful. Food, both dinner and breakfast was delicious. Everyone went out of their way to make our castle experience such a great one.

Staff exceptional, esp Dale and Ashley. They took marvellous and personal care of us. The Castle itself is showing its age. The mattress in our room needs replacing. We had a suite in one of the towers, which was huge, with a massive sitting room, but it was at the very top, only accessible by stairs, so unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The evening meal and cooked breakfasts were delicious and cooked to order, a rare experience in this day and age.

Booked a night away for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. We had an amazing time. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Abigail on reception and Ashleigh in the restaurant. The castle room was really comfortable and we will certainly be returning. The food was exceptional too. It really was the perfect little getaway that we needed. Thanks to Walworth Castle for a lovely weekend. Such a welcoming place!

Lovely, friendly young man on reception when we arrived. Setting is wonderful. Four poster bed great but a little small. Restaurant nice for dinner, staff nice Breakfast far too expensive for what you get. Kept being told only on chef on, waited almost an hour for food that was just ‘ok’. Castle breakfast too small. Good buffet options. Receptionist Saturday morning rather sharp, asked to be refunded for the Sunday breakfast as we were not planning on eating there again. Seemed rather reluctant and offered no apology. The rooms could be so much more in keeping with the castle setting. Current decor bland, lots of empty space and a they’re missing a trick that could make the experience more unique. Bed comfy, sofa comfy. Staff helpful at night and happy to provide extra pillows and blankets. Would stay again, just needs a bit of an update.

Our first impressions were amazing and the staff were all lovely and friendly. Check in was a little slow, as a call came in as we were about to check in. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and the lounge was a welcome area to relax. The food was amazing and the staff were attentive. The only downside was our standard double room was extremely small..... everything else was spot on.

Very love area with walking paths, forest and birds, lots of birds. The dining hall, reception and lounge area are fabulous. The extra building housing non-suite rooms is very tired looking and cold, but the price reflects that, so no complaints. Staff is very helpful and attentive. I would definitely stay there again.

It was our first stay and we will definitely consider a return. The downside was the extra cost for the taxi to and from the train station in Darlington as it’s about a15/20 minute drive to get there. It looks like the perfect venue for a wedding, one was happening during our stay and it looked fantastic. The staff were very good and we had a lovely Sunday lunch. Another slight issue was the noise in the annex building rooms, doors slamming, and expel air as well as conversations could be heard from the adjoining rooms as the walls are very thin. However, overall it was a great overnight stay and subsequent perfect family Sunday lunch. We will definitely return at some point in the future and will recommend it to friends. The wedding package looked fantastic at a very good price and I would recommend it to anyone planning one to check it out.

Our room was huge, it was an amazing stay in a castle. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Food was delicious and fit for a king. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. We loved our stay at Walworth Castle.

It was an amazing experience to stay in a castle. Our room was huge, beautiful, authentic and amazing. The staff were so very kind and helpful. Food, both dinner and breakfast was delicious. Everyone went out of their way to make our castle experience such a great one.

A lovely setting with a picturesque and historic building. Rooms are either in the castle itself or in the attached wing, which seems to be slightly more modern. The bathroom is highly modern, the room less so. Overall very comfortable and well appointed. Not entirely soundproofed (corridor sounds, doors closing and some talking). Excellent dining - i enjoyed the lamb moussaka and had a great glass of Shiraz with it. Nice staff, attentive service.

We stayed in Annexe part of the castle, very dated. Tiny window in our room with lots of ivy growing over so lots of spiders coming in. Room was very small. Breakfast was included the castle cooked breakfast was very poor,hardly anything on plate,i personally have to have gluten-free so all i had was 1 mushroom, 1 half piece of tomato, 2 small slices of bacon,1 poached egg,had to ask if i could have gluten-free bread,finally got 2 slices. Didn't find the staff very pleasant.

Lovely place. Great room (bed was a bit hard for my liking) Staff were great My only issue was the buttermilk chicken salad as a main, which left a lot to be desired (4 small pieces of overdone, very crispy dark brown chicken on a bed of rocket and 2 small tomatoes cut in half, for £16)

Walworth castle exceeded our expectations. From start to finish it was fantastic and our daughter enjoyed her birthday stay. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. The castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are all very well maintained. The dungeon and play park was a hit with our girls and they’re still talking about it a week later. Our only regret was staying for just one night! A little happy birthday message left in the room for our daughter was a nice touch, thank you!
