They are out of town so need cab. Roof and elevator are being worked on. People pleasant and food good.

Great hotel on the road. Face the water, great view. Nice bedroom. Easy parking. 5 min from fort william city center

If we had booked Bed and Breakfast we would have been a lot happier with our stay but we booked Half Board as we had been on the Jacobite Train that day and not due back until 7ish. When we arrived we couldn't find a parking space but saw the additional parking sign at the back. Followed this which just took us to a dead end space with building materials everywhere. Lots of cars were doing the same so it was chaos. Not a great first impression. We sat down for dinner, the set menu didn't look great and we're not fussy eaters. First course Halloumi fries came in 2 minutes and they were so rock hard that they bent the fork prongs! There were two on each plate which looked sad enough. Both of ours were exactly the same so it's clear that was the standard of the food and not just a one off. We were asked what else we'd like, the only thing I could remember was the soup. This came and looked just like watery cuppa soup, it was not good. The rest of the food was OK, but considering the set menu is supposed to cost £25 I think, it was really not good value for money at all. Looking back I wish we'd left the food and got a refund but we were late and had nowhere else to go. Bed was comfy, beautiful room view and the breakfast was good. Just don't waste your money eating there in the evening.

The hotel is lovely and staff are helpful. The food was not so great at all. I ordered a chicken curry and it was 100% out a jar and the garlic bread was cooked from frozen and very hard. I did not have breakfast but it would be nice of the hotel had some home cooked food. The drinks were extremely over priced! The rooms were lovely and clean and parking was great too - the views were great!

Beautiful location directly across the street from Loch Linnhe. The desk and housekeeping staff we met were all lovely. The room was comfortable and fairly recently updated. We included dinner and breakfast in our reservation. The dinners were fantastic and the full breakfast buffet was quite well stocked. Short drive to lots of lovely attractions. They also had some live entertainment in the bar in the evenings. We enjoyed our stay!

The hotel was in a fabulous location with the most beautiful views. The staff were very friendly. Food option's good and great breakfast choices. The only thing that slightly spoilt it was the scaffolding..but obviously things need attending to from time to time. I was looking forward to a clear view from my bedroom window.

Great spot to stay on edge of loch but really busy road in tourist season, great bar and restaurant. No air con and it was hot weather!

This was a disappointing stay. Our room was on the third floor and the lift was broken. They offered to help with our bags but we could manage. It was all the other trips up and down the stairs; we are 70 years old and stairs can be difficult. The stairwell was dirty and the carpet on the steps was torn in several places. The carpet in the room was old and stained. And the TV was a computer monitor. Their buffet breakfast was the one redeeming feature. It was a large buffet and the food was very tasty.

Older building. Noisy floors-sounds like everyone was stomping. People outback of hotel smoking drinking and loud very late-through the window noisy. Fire alarm went off 6 times during the night beginning at 2:30. They did give free breakfast in service recovery for being up all night

Well, after first travelling to Caledonian House in Dunoon, I blame the phone sat nav, I arrived couple of hours later than planned. Everyone mentions lovely staff, and that was true. The entertainment was good, solo singer/guitarist, focused a bit much on telling you which artists are dead after he finished their song, with the odd, they're still alive. You almost wanted to cheer. Food was ok, had the vegan burger and a vegan pizza in the bar. Good range of options for breakfast. Room was good, and front viewing which was fully worth it for the morning view. Down sides, I parked round the back and theres less than obvious dip which didn't notice till I backed into it in the morning. Didn't notice any signs, there was a Hilux parked next to me, would have been ok in that. What's with the pillow shortage? Seems to be a common theme. Would I stay again? Yes, I like it because it's human, bit quirky and the setting can't be beaten.

Good base for walks in the area. Reception & dining area nice. Breakfast self service, range of food ok. Room clean but very warm due to large central heating pipe running through it. Rooms clean but could probably do with a freshen up. Would stay there again.

The smell of musty air hit you in the face as soon as you walked in the building and got worse when we got off the elevator on the 4th floor! Though the hotel was busy anyone I spoke to said the same thing that the place smelled musty. Very much a put off. The bathroom was not cleaned very well and there was gung at the bottoms of the class shower doors. The matress was very uncomfortable and I could fell the springs! This place is very tired and needs a face lift desperately! It was also too far from the main town so taxi was a must. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Sorry folks but I call them as I see and smell them!

Don’t believe the photos. This place is unclean and poorly maintained. Our room smelled like sour milk and dog pee, it was gross.

Behind our door hadn’t been vacuumed- for ages. Lumps of dust - not seen if door was open but closed it drew the eye - what is that on the carpet? Apart from the above all was good

Booked a loch view, was given top floor. Room was awful, stank of mould, however, on speaking to reception they immediately moved us to the second floor. Lovely clean room, loch view with walk in shower. Much better. Hotel does need remodernising though, noticed its starting to look tired compared to last year.

The hotel had the dirtiest walls I’ve ever seen.

If you're looking to spend top dollar and spend the night in a hotel with black mold in the bathroom and rude attendants, then this is your place. The hotel is very run down and seriously needs some basic maintenance so the rugs don't snag your luggage wheels, the floors don't creak and the black mold in the bathroom is addressed. The attendants that I spoke to at night and in the morning offered no suggestions, apologies or other rooms when asked so I didn't expose myself to potential dangerous spores. Wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.

The bathroom was dirty and had mold everywhere. The curtains were hanging off the rod and dirty. The carpet was dirty. Some of the electrical outlets didn't work. The toilet was broken and had mold. The food was awful in the restaurant very few choices. Everything was outdated, broken and dirty.

We did not like the many mold stains in the bathroom, its oldfashion and can use some renovation

Location of the property is beautiful and the staff are fabulous. They were helpful and accommodating to our numerous requests.Thank you!! However, our room had too much furniture, too few plugs, dirty carpet and walls, and an inch of dust coating everything. Badly in need of a deep clean and some basic upgrades.

Room was spacious but no PowerPoints near the bed. The tv was very small. The room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. Floor was very noisy to walk on. Minimal consumables in the room. Big advantage was a lift. Breakfast was good and very reasonably priced.

The bedroom was newly refurbished and looked out at the Loch. It was double glazed so quiet. The bathroom was very nice with a new shower. The heating was a bit odd and made some knocking noises but I slept well. At dinner we thought the menu was poor and so we ate from the bar menu which was much better. We enjoyed our meal.

The view from the hotel is wonderful but it sits on the main road into and out of Fort William so there is a lot of traffic noise. On one of the nights we stayed, there was a loud conversation outside the building at 1.30 am and people began moving around, banging doors, etc from 5.30 am. There is little sound proofing and the room doors need to be forcefully pulled to close so don't expect to sleep much. Otherwise it is basic accommodation and adequate breakfasts.

Fantastic views outside the hotel Room suitable for our break but in need of freshing up add usb sockets would be a start

We had a short stay at the hotel. The room was adequate and comfortable and met our needs. We were on the 2nd floor so had a view of the water. Shower was great always a good thing. Breakfast and dinner were okay, a variety was available at both. Staff were helpful when we needed them. Nice place for a basic stay.

Tiniest double bed I have experienced in a long time. Hotel staff were expedient and responsive but warmth was lacking. Lovely view out to the water from picture windows in dining room obscured by coach parking right in front. Coaches could have been located at the other end of the parking area without compromising any viewpoint. Table in room was unstable and maintenance person came to room with screwdriver and proceeded to dismantle it. They could have taken away and given us one from another room while they worked on it. It was still unstable. Our stay was fine but hotel is tired and uninspiring.

If you have sensitivity to mold and mildew I would not recommend staying here. The room was soooo hot, no AC, and the window didn’t have a screen so we couldn’t leave it open without a ton of bugs in the room. Beautiful loch view though.

The location was the best thing about this hotel but I would never stay here again. The rooms were unbearably hot so that explained why all the windows were open when we arrived, the beds were so uncomfortable, creaky thin mattresses and it just smelt bad in general. I wasn’t expecting amazing rooms but temperature control and decent beds should just be standard for hotels.

It was clean and fairly quiet inside. Lots of traffic noise and our window would not quite shut all the way.

Very average hotel, bed was clean and comfortable, staff rude on checking in we arrived 1hour early and uncertain terms told check in not possible until 4pm , not an offer of a seat in the lounge or anything. After asking about an attraction we could go and see offered no assistance to where it might be so not a very happy arrival. Food in bar menu was poor tikka curry had very little chicken and my mushroom soup was a very small bowl with not much flavour except pepper. Drinks expensive with no price list to see before purchasing 2 gin and tonics were 16 pound.was convenient for fort William and not hard to find on main road. Was ok place to stay for 1 night

The staff is exceptional! So very friendly and helpful. The room was nice. There are wonderful views from the hotel and it is in a great location.

Front of house upon arrival and throughout the duration of our stay was incredibly abrupt, condescending and rude to both me and my family as well as to every other guest with which he interacted. Not only was communication skills poor but his knowledge of what was advertised and what was actually available, was not correct. For example, restaurant was closed although online said was open, packed lunches were unavailable but still offered, and when we asked questions regarding the procedure to order and availability of food services out with the breakfast menu, we were met with hostility. The rest of our stay was acceptable and the breakfast offerings were really good, but the man who worked front of house during our stay (2nd January to 4th January) needs a course in customer service and manners. The restaurant staff were exceptional, knowledgeable and obliging, as was the woman on reception at check out.

Disgusting hotel with rude and arrogant staff From the start of our arrival we were made to feel very unwelcome and the reception staff were rude and arrogant and made you feel like you should be grateful there was even a room available in their fully booked hotel (can’t imagine why it would be full with such an anti tourism attitude). Then we went to restaurant to be told if you haven’t booked then eat at the bar even though the restaurant was empty with many seats available. At the bar ordering the food that staff were also rude and very unwelcoming. For the price we paid - £150 per room - one would expect a much more friendly and welcoming atmosphere. To top it off the room was smelly like wet damp sea water or wet damp dog and we had to keep the window open all night. Disgusting hotel and I will never stay there again.

Upon arrival nicely greeted and checked in.Excellent Staff they deserve a pay rise. The room was nicely prepared and presented, great housekeeping staff. Barman was excellent at his job .The dining room staff were also extremely helpful and professional. The hotel needs a little Investment into itsome aspects are tired upgrade doors and locks to a card system would be good. Breakfast is superb highly recommend it. A very enjoyable few days in a beautiful setting. Thank You

Customer service was awful. One of the staff even made fun of my wife. We complained and got our meal refunded

Overall stay was excellent. We would go and stay again. But our experience with one of the staff was very bad. I did not have breakfast option so bought one breakfast for my mother in law. I was accused of eating without paying without even confirming with me. I was not asked politely, but the breakfast supervisor stood over my head and said that I ate without paying as one of her staff member saw me eating breakfast. Which was, of course, rubbish. I confronted them and they apologized. But despite that, I would still go and stay there. The desk staff was very very polite and accommodating. Loved them.

I was very disappointed with the staff, as the customer service fell short and I did not feel valued as a guest. Additionally, parking is quite limited, so be prepared for potential difficulties finding a spot if you plan to dine out! I won’t recommend this place!

Great staff - room had everything required

Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel is comfortable and met our needs, only thing that might have added to it would have been a fridge especially in the warm weather, but couldn't fault anything. The view from the hotel is stunning. Can't praise the staff or the service we received enough. Thank you so much.

The property was a fine place to drop your bags and get a good night's sleep, but it wasn't special. The hotel is dated, but parts have been redone in recent years. The staff was nice and there is a bar and restaurant on the premises (which we didn't go to), but it's not walking distance to any Fort Williams activities. It does have a nice view of the Loch. Great as a way station on your journey, but not for a long stay.

Beautiful view of loch from hotel with picnic tables for leisure. Breakfast was great with large selection of foods. Quick drive into Fort William.

This is a good budget hotel in a tourism town. It is old and worn, but it is kept clean. The single room was small (no room to open a regular sized suitcase), the bed was decently comfortable, and the shower had lots of pressure and hot water. The highlight of the Caledonian is the beautiful view of Loch Linnhe and the very ample breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. Note that the hotel is outside of Fort William, so it is not walkable (unless you like long walks).

2.5 miles outside Fort William

Bar meal was terrible over cooked pizza with extra cheese and chopped onions put over it. Breakfast the cooked food was not hot slightly warm at best.

Doning and bar areas were good condition. Windows and frames all a bit tired. Room facilities were adequate. Limited plug sockets in convenient locations. The room was well decorated and clean. The furniture and facilities i.e Bathroom fan were all very tired and in need of upgrade. The restaurant provided a limited menu at dinner. Breakfast was better. Fried eggs were hard and scrambled egg more like an egg custard. Location was excellent.

Amazing location, great staff and a very good breakfast

Food was barely passable had better in a Beefeater pub! Staff were very good. Room was a family room which Expedia wouldn’t let us book any other type - we wanted a double with views! Disappointing stay won’t be going back !

There were a lot of negative reviews for this hotel, but honestly, I enjoyed my stay. The reception area is nice with modern furnishings and views of the lake, the breakfast was tasty and also had nice views, the bar is nice to have in case you want a drink! The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The shower in our room was amazing! Fabulous water pressure and nice and hot! Yes, carpets were a little run down but the room facilities were modern. It was a little warm- fans would be nice. It’s also a good location- nice to be just outside of town and have the lake views but also easy drive in to town! Park at the Morrisons grocery and you are 2 minutes to the cute little shopping and eating area!

We were a party of Six and stayed for two nights. On the first night the dinner menu was limited in choice although we did receive a 10% discount and the food was ok. The first break was excellent the service was good and the staff friendly and helpful. On the second morning and a change of of staff the breakfast logistics were lacking due to the arrival if a tour coach party the night before. The kitchen and staff couldn't cope. Some of the food items cold and replacement of others were slow or non existent. Other than that all was good. With the exception a request for the towel rails in the shower room to be cleaned. We would choose the Caledonian again in the future

Old, tired hotel that needs major maintenance. Mold in the bathtub, outer skirt of bathtub was falling off. Dinner was a major disappointment. Flavorless steak, frozen carrots, potatos needed salt (and I never add salt) Order wine by the color from the bar staff
