We wanted a somewhat old-fashioned and traditional experience, but the hotel was a little too old fashioned. Because it was October, the lack of air conditioning wasn’t a problem - but it would be a different story if it was a really hot summer day. There seemed to be ample parking, but both nights that we returned from supper about 8:00pm, the lot was full of vans and there was no where to park. The staff were helpful in my finding on street parking, but it was a very narrow street and I was concerned about my rental car getting side-swiped.

This hotel is in a good location not too far from the city centre, the hotel is a bit dated but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom we had was again spacious but needs some modernisation along with other parts of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant area are nice, we didn't have a meal other than breakfast which was nice and the choice is reasonable. We only stayed one night and bed was comfortable enough for that.

The first impression of the Brookside Hotel was how nice it looks from outside. It appears quite large but only has a small carpark, and as I checked in quite late on a busy weekend, it meant that I had to park down the adjacent road. Inside, the decor to me was reminiscent of the 1970s/80s, and finding my room was the "attic" room. I didn't know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find the room was very, very clean and cosy and was very comfortable for my 2 night stay. The dining room is light and airy and there are various breakfast options from fruit and cereal to toast and full English. The hotel is in a great location to explore Chester city. I would happily stay in the Brookside hotel again and would absolutely recommend it to other travellers.

Parking is limited in the small car park but I found a space. The hotel is nice and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel and rooms are dated so if you like that you will like it here. The bed for me was small and a bit lumpy but otherwise, I had a good sleep. Expensive small bottled beers and no draught beer. The menu is limited, I didn't eat in as the town is a 15-minute walk away with better restaurants. Lots of lounge areas to relax in and meet people. Full English Breakfast was cooked to order however the food quality was not that great. The sausage was cheap tasting and overcooked, mushrooms had I think paprika over them which made them taste funny, otherwise the rest is ok.

Shower could do with good clean there were black stains on silicon/grout. Staff very helpful and breakfast good value specially recommend the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Handy location for visiting the city walls of Chester.

I had a pleasant one night stay. It was clean and tidy, the shower was a little feeble but it did the job! Breakfast was very nice and the staff always willing to help. Would definitely stay again.

We were greeted by lovely staff upon arrival. The place is a bit dated but nice and warm and clean. The room was a good size but there were a few cob webs hanging from the ceiling. Other than that a really pleasant stay. A 10/15 min flat walk in to the City walls. We got an uber taxi back later in the evening which cost £4.30. Would stay here again

Really pleased with my stay. My room was squeaky clean and very comfortable. I was welcomed by the proprietor, who was very helpful, as was everyone else that I met. This is a gem of a property that is close enough to be a short walk from the city centre, but away enough to be quiet and relaxing. Definitely recommended!

Lovely old hotel, a little miscommunication by the staff. Booked breakfast when checking in but last morning stay all breakfast put away but Lovely Anna to the rescue as was told we not having breakfast even though we booked and paid, Anna brought it all out as had cleared the restaurant and we had a nice breakfast. Rooms could do with usb outlets in plug sockets. Very old world but comfortable and dont forget to turn heating down on radiator like we did was a sauna. The road is quite busy and noisy. But ok

I received a really warm welcome on arrival and was directed to my room. The building has a lot of character, however, this does mean a lot of creaky floorboards. I stayed in an economy room. As such, it was tiny, but ample for one night. The bathroom was clean, the shower was hot with sufficient water from the shower head. Fabulous cooked breakfast, catered for my gluten and dairy allergy without prior notice. Negatives - Bald patches in the carpet. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable. The room was hot (it's December, so this shouldn't have been an issue!). I had to open the window overnight which exacerbated the noise from the traffic outside. On top of that, the duvet was thick, hot and heavy. I think I spent most of the night awake! The floorboards creaked from the room above. Walls are thin, so when the person next door comes in or goes out, it sounds like they are in the room with you! The beeper on the door is loud, so when your neighbour doesn't shut the door properly, it can go on for ages. All in all, the staff are great and the breakfast was lovely, but it's not enough to make me want to stay again.

Hotel was very dated room was very dark. Complained about the shower twice as it was just a trickle impossible to wash your hair. Was told somebody would look at it but nobody did. Very disappointing

This is an old hotel with character and creaky floors . My room was clean and compact . The bathroom tiny . Comfy bed . The breakfast was excellent . The staff was very friendly . The walk in to town was 15-20 minutes . Wifi perfect . TV did not work . Good for a short stay in lovely Chester .

The hotel is lovely and staff are very friendly but our room was economy and we did not sleep at all for the 2 nights,mattress very cheap and thin and pillows very uncomfortable. Breakfast was nice apart from my poached egg was under cooked

Very restful hotel. Very comfortable, with good atmosphere. Exellent breakfasts. Good location for city access without all the noise of the centre. One small peoblem: the shower in room 19 has a pumped hot water system which swamps the cold water feed. The pressures need balancing, as the shower tends to scald.

Lovely owner and friendly staff. Was able to park the car early. Didn’t opt for the meals due to other arrangements. Nice and clean room, brilliant shower. Would suggest extra pillows being available for the bed, but that is a personal preference. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely old hotel, a little miscommunication by the staff. Booked breakfast when checking in but last morning stay all breakfast put away but Lovely Anna to the rescue as was told we not having breakfast even though we booked and paid, Anna brought it all out as had cleared the restaurant and we had a nice breakfast. Rooms could do with usb outlets in plug sockets. Very old world but comfortable and dont forget to turn heating down on radiator like we did was a sauna. The road is quite busy and noisy. But ok

This hotel is in a good location not too far from the city centre, the hotel is a bit dated but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom we had was again spacious but needs some modernisation along with other parts of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant area are nice, we didn't have a meal other than breakfast which was nice and the choice is reasonable. We only stayed one night and bed was comfortable enough for that.

Really pleased with my stay. My room was squeaky clean and very comfortable. I was welcomed by the proprietor, who was very helpful, as was everyone else that I met. This is a gem of a property that is close enough to be a short walk from the city centre, but away enough to be quiet and relaxing. Definitely recommended!

Lovely Hotel, cosy, friendly and helpful staff. Convenient ten minute walk into the town centre. Breakfast was ok. Evening meal was ok, far too salty. Rooms need updating, decor a bit tired and dated. Parking very tight but thankful there was parking.

The first impression of the Brookside Hotel was how nice it looks from outside. It appears quite large but only has a small carpark, and as I checked in quite late on a busy weekend, it meant that I had to park down the adjacent road. Inside, the decor to me was reminiscent of the 1970s/80s, and finding my room was the "attic" room. I didn't know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find the room was very, very clean and cosy and was very comfortable for my 2 night stay. The dining room is light and airy and there are various breakfast options from fruit and cereal to toast and full English. The hotel is in a great location to explore Chester city. I would happily stay in the Brookside hotel again and would absolutely recommend it to other travellers.

I stayed on a Sunday night and there was no ine around. The hotel and surrounding area, was very quiet. Everything worked as it should.

Very restful hotel. Very comfortable, with good atmosphere. Exellent breakfasts. Good location for city access without all the noise of the centre. One small peoblem: the shower in room 19 has a pumped hot water system which swamps the cold water feed. The pressures need balancing, as the shower tends to scald.

Hotel room was a bit small to move around. However bed was super comfortable. The traffic noise from nearby road is noticeable specifically after 5am though I am a light sleeper. Shower could do with good clean there were black stains on silicon/grout. Staff very helpful and breakfast good value specially recommend the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Handy location for visiting the city walls of Chester.

Super friendly family run hotel, with parking and a 20 minute walk into centre. It is dated, but good breakfast buffet / cooked options . The light bite menu was good value, but i found the curry too salty and not such good value.

I loved this Hotel. Very welcoming and friendly. I particularly liked the fact that the breakfast was freshly made to order and piping hot, no lukewarm buffet. Good evening meal options also. Within a mile to Chester town to walk or staff will call you a taxi. Will definitely return

Parking is limited in the small car park but I found a space. The hotel is nice and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel and rooms are dated so if you like that you will like it here. The bed for me was small and a bit lumpy but otherwise, I had a good sleep. Expensive small bottled beers and no draught beer. The menu is limited, I didn't eat in as the town is a 15-minute walk away with better restaurants. Lots of lounge areas to relax in and meet people. Full English Breakfast was cooked to order however the food quality was not that great. The sausage was cheap tasting and overcooked, mushrooms had I think paprika over them which made them taste funny, otherwise the rest is ok.

Disappointed and I travel a lot!!! Carpark small so ended up parking away from hotel as in a residential area. Room 26 at the top so more like an attic room. No dressing table chair in front of dressing table so awkward for my partner to do hair and makeup. Went to make a drink in the morning and only 1 cup??? Breakfast is highly rated on reviews but we found toast anemic as hardly done. I didn't want a full breakfast so asked for bacon and egg sandwich... I had one rather of bacon🤔Staff very friendly but not worth money even with my discount.

The parking was small and we didn't manage to get a space, but that was the only slight inconvenience. Perfectly clean, comfortable bed, thick carpets in the hallway and amazingly confortable sofas. Garden with nice closed spaces for small companies of friends. Fantastic breakfast with really nice and helpful staff. The town of Chester is charming and full of restaurants, atmosphere and English history. The hotel is within walking distance, if you are a walking person, otherwise there are lots of well placed car parks. I do recommend the place.

Location and staff - fantastic! Property also has a free car park. The room was clean but very dated. Mattress was not comfortable and was quite noisy. The doors and the floor boards of the corridors are also quite noisy.
