It was great that it was centrally located and within walking distance of so many restaurants and attractions. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean. The water throughout the day and free coffee/tea in the mornings was a nice bonus. The only disappointing area would be the pool/hot tub area, the hot tub was small and the jets didn't work. As well, the hit tub definitely is not accessible. Overall, this is a very nice hotel and i would recommend it to my family and friends.

The hotel room was too hot and the air conditioning was too loud. Staff told us that the thermostat was not controllable, and that one central heat exchanger circulated the entire building. They did attempt to move us to a different room but there was no improvement to the air quality. We did not sleep well the first night. We tried opening the windows but they wouldn’t open whatsoever. After some back and forth, they allowed us to cancel our second night stay and also credited our parking for the first night. The swimming pool and hot tub were also filthy looking. The water was murky and when we asked the cleaning staff if they cleaned it, they smirked and told us that the pool and hot tub were both cleaned once a week. We were very disappointed with this experience!

The front house staff were friendly, particularly Adeep. The location of the hotel and size of room was great. However, the rooms were quite outdated and lacked cleanliness. The AC unit was quite loud which made it difficult to sleep with it on, the curtains had noticeable stains, stains on overall furniture, etc.

During check in, the staff had an earpod in one side of her ear, and she had her phone next to the keyboard and she was clearly looking at Instagram. She wasn't paying full attention to me when I was checking in and asking her about valet parking. She literally was looking at her phone and I to say excuse me twice to get her attention. Also, I have a photo to show but not sure why it doesn't allow me to attach here but my bedsheet had a huge dirty water-looking stain that's bigger than my palm, right in the middle near the pillow area. Quite disgusting. I had to use a towel to cover over it to be able to sleep on the bed, they also don't change the bedsheets as I booked the room for 4 nights and it was the same sheet with the stain. They also seem a bit random in their approach to turning over things, sometimes they brought new towels, sometimes it was clearly a rough & rushed turnover without replenishing things. My family in adjacent rooms also sometimes get service and was skipped a day or 2. The view from my windows were - towards a chinese restaurant's exhaust and the other side the hotel's "parking space" together with their large garbage bins. Not pleasant to look at.

Room was dirty and had the towel bar coming out of the wall. Unfortunate for the amount of money charged, as you expect a higher standard for this hotel chain. Staff were great, and lovely to deal with.

PROs: This hotel is well situated near the boardwalk- easily walkable to many local atrractions and restaurants. There is a small grocery store next to the hotel where you can pick up food and drink for your room. Staff were pleasant and the bartender makes a fabulous Old Fashioned. CONs: My room had a bottle of used hair conditioner in it at.check-in, and I noted the night tables could use a good wipe down with a damp rag...there were ring marks and fingerprints that made them appear dirty. Stronger attention to detail when cleaning rooms would be recommended. I would also suggest local hotels offer free bottled water (this one does not). The taste/quality of the tap water in Halifax is not ideal.

The room and beds were excellent. Spacious and comfortable, private and clean. The only problem was that it was not soundproof. You could hear everything going on in the hallway, other rooms- especially loud thumps of the doors closing. The biggest issue was hearing the noise from the street. It was like we were in the middle of a busy city street but we were on the 6th floor. I would not recommend a street view rooms because of this. It was a huge interference with our ability to get a peaceful sleep.

Our room was excellent with a view of the harbor (for a small markup). The suite is recommended for a family due to the separation of the bedroom and the TV/kitchen area for those with different bad times. The only drawback is parking the downtown area is difficult.

The rooms were spacious and the beds and couch were very comfortable. Really great to have a sitting room and a separate bedroom. The bathroom was clean and new. In fact, the whole room was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel. It is in a great location, within walking distance of the waterfront and many attractions - but you do have to walk up some steep hills to get to some of them. Luckily The Hollis is in the middle - not too high up the hill nor too low, so we were able to walk everywhere. Lots of great pubs and restaurants are near. Some construction noise in the morning, but there is construction everywhere in Halifax right now, so likely an issue for most hotels. A good white noise machine (or using a white noise app on your phone) takes care of that easily. The kitchenette is very handy, especially the fridge. It would be good to have some cutlery to use for any food brought back to the room. All in all, an excellent place to stay. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful.

Room we stayed in was beautiful. Stayed in a corner room king bed suite with a bathroom off of the room and living room, spacious kitchette and dining set. Lots of difference spaces in one hotel room. Wow.

With the ongoing construction kitty corner to the property (we were in the corner unit directly facing it), and the continuous large vehicle traffic, it was really loud all hours of the day and night. It would have been prudent to have us put us into a room away from that area.

The staff was so great, even gave my pup some treats and us a warm cookie. Went above and beyond. We were in a road trip and this was my favours hotel by far. Beds were comfy and you could walk to the boardwalk and many restaurants. We are a large family (5 plus dog) and we all had our space. We had a great stay!

Positive - Steven at front desk was wonderful. Restaurant staff were amazing, particularly Queenel. Negative - Always had to wait approximately 10 minutes for car. Housekeeping was mediocre. Dusty. Left the room temperature very cold and took a long time to get comfortable. Always had to go to front desk for coffee packets.

was quiet until the second night. door across the way people coming and going door slamming. from 10 pm til 3 am. than police showed up banging on there door asking to open up. police eventually were invited in. lots of discussion then they left and then quiet. Hotel should have addressed the noise issues sooner than later. Missed out on half a night’s sleep. definitely won’t be back. practically no room to park and drop luggage. For the money can find better hotels in the same area. Staff was great other then the situation they had to deal with which I think is more management then the staff

Building something across the street. There is a gigantic hole across the street with gigantic equipment breaking rock and pounding in pilings starting at 7 am. Other than that the hotel was fine.

The location of this hotel couldn’t be beat. It was walkable to the Halifax boardwalk. The room was spacious and had an amazing view. It was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Halifax. I’m so grateful I chose it.

Sehr schönes Hotel in guter Lage. Nur ein paar Meter bis zur Uferpromenade und zum Maritim-Museum, alle anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten sind auch gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Frühstück, das man sich von der Karte aussuchen konnte, war sehr lecker.

Highly disappointed in the poor service with housekeeping especially paying the price to stay in a suite. I’ve done more cleaning than an employee has. Pool is usually warm and nice expect one night, hot tub is nice too but not large enough to fit multiple people as you’d expect in a higher class hotel. Breakfast options are limited, kids menu just is terrible (my son won’t eat a thing), usually under or overcooked. Front desk staff are AMAZING however and cannot speak highly enough about them!

Nice hotel, good location. Restaurant had good breakfasts. One day great service; one day service was abysmal. Not sure if it was the fault of our wait person or the kitchen. My instinct is the kitchen because our waitress was otherwise very good appeared embarrassed by the time it took to deliver our meal.

I got way over charged the rate i was suppose to be charged. The restaurant was the worst service ever the chicken was cold on my nachos and i still paid. Have been over a week and nothings been done.not good service stay somewhere else.
