I almost dont want to wrkte a review as it will get booked , but this little.gem was fabulous. Great.hosts lovely evening menu the chilli was amazing. The continental breakfast is cute and coffee is large and strong and hot. Super comfy beds and pligs that make sense Parking was accesible Room is gorgeous and really.spacious and comfy Honestly cant rate highly enough Enjoyed it and didnt want to leave

Room was very small, had to open window cos little ventilation. Ensuite very small too and had to go in shower sideways and then door didn't shut properly. Bar closed at 10pm. To gain access to room after 10 pm you had to go up rusty fire escape which wasn't very helpful. We had an early departure so they provided us with a bag of 2 croissants and fruit plus cartons of juice. Altogether I don't think it was good value for what we paid....

Night door for b&b rather unsafe. Pillows lumpy. Continental breakfast in a brown bag left outside the room door about 2130hrs. 2plastic wrapped danish pastries, a clementine or something, carton of apple juice, carton of jam and a Rice Krispies bar! Not forgetting the wooden knife! V poor…..chef not in or something? Noisy from an extractor outside and shower went freezing cold before I’d finished.

Very, very warm welcome, nice room (basic, but nicely done and comfortable), great menu for evening meals and a genuinely freshly-cooked and plentiful full-English for breakfast. Will stay again!!! Things to note: Ask for a room away from the road if traffic is a bother, and you will need to be able to manage stairs.

Bedroom was ok - surprisingly quiet for location next to a roundabout. Bathroom was tired and could do with a facelift. Complimentary water and hot drinks and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. Night entry/exit was a bit rotten and not the nicest to walk through. Helpful and friendly staff. Food didn’t look like the pictures but was nice enough for pub food. Complementary continental breakfast was nice - pastries, yoghurt and cereal with juice and hot drinks.

The Blacksmith's Arms is a nice clean value for money pub with rooms. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The ensuite was small with a cracked tile on the shower floor but again clean and everything worked fine. Our landlady was friendly, welcoming and helpful, and our continental breakfast the following morning was perfectly reasonable. Despite its situation by a roundabout we were not disturbed by traffic noise overnight. Overall, we found the Blacksmith' s Arms excellent value for money for people who just want a clean and cheerful overnight stay.

Lots of good things about this place - wifi is secure. There are usb ports in the power sockets. Crisp white bedding. A comfy chair - but you can't see the tv from its position. Room itself ok but the bathroom let it down. No shelf to put anything and although the toilet and very small sink are clean the shower tray desperately needs replacing and the shower surround, skirting boards and around the door need a deep clean. Inclusive breakfast is limited (though cooked breakfast available at an additional cost)

There was a dead fly on the tea tray, and the bathroom needed a "proper" clean (taps and under toilet seat)....that apart....the bed was very comfortablecomfortable

Absolutely awful! The rooms are in a very poor state of repair, dirty, musty and unaired. The bathroom and room are extremely dirty and clearly not been cleaned properly in a very, very long time. The hot tap does not work, so no facilities to wash properly. And, the taps are so short, you cannot get your hands under the cold tap anyway - the only tap that worked. The shower was so dirty we could not bring ourselves to use it. There are crows nesting in the broken vent above guest rooms, so related clattering and banging noise all night long, directly above your heads. The guest rooms have a security door for access - which does not work or lock - so there is no security for guests and their belongings. The pillows are many years old, as flat as pancakes and excessively stained under the pillow cases. The mattresses are clearly cheap, poor quality and/or old and worn out. There is no body support. They say that you get what you pay for, but not in this case. This hotel is excessively over-priced for such a poor quality and dirty room. I have raised these concerns with the hotel prior to leaving feedback, but they have not taken the time to respond. There are plenty of other hotels in the area - book one of them!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only slight negatives were the shower and wash basin were tiny (- it would be really helpful to have shelves in the en-suite) and the shower drain is beginning to show its age. All a bit dated. Bed was very comfortable. But Alfa’s was good too. Really like the coffee! Thank you, Emma.

Had a great stay for two nights. Bed very comfortable and good quality linen. The shower cubicle was tiny and uncomfortable to use and I’m not a big person by any stretch. It was ok for the short stay though. Was a bit surprised only continental breakfast was included considering the room rate.

Booked this room for an overnight stay to attend a family event the next day .The staff were friendly & welcoming everything we needed to know was explained .We were not pressured to eat at the pub but enjoyed the reasonably priced bar meals we chose .The food was freshly cooked The owner was especially helpful as we needed to change to go to the event .The pub was unable to offer an extension on the room.checkout but let us change in one of the new soon to be released rooms free of charge Would definatly stay here again

Emma and her partner were amazing hosts. We pulled up to the door for the main pub entrance and were met by Emma. Even though we were two hours early, they kindly checked us in. They were so warm and friendly throughout our stay. Free continental breakfast or full breakfast options. Emma put us in contact with 2 drivers, one of whom drove us to the airport. She provided support for finding plug adapters, things to do in town, and so much more.

The Blacksmith's Arms was an excellent choice for nearby Glyndebourne. This is a nice neighbourhood with an interesting history and good communications - I do hope that they don't turn the area into a "new Town" as some developers are hoping to do. Strongly recommended! #
The Blacksmith's Arms was an excellent choice for nearby Glyndebourne. This is a nice neighbourhood with an interesting history and good communications - I do hope that they don't turn the area into a "new Town" as some developers are hoping to do. Strongly recommended! #

The Blacksmith's Arms is a nice clean value for money pub with rooms. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The ensuite was small with a cracked tile on the shower floor but again clean and everything worked fine. Our landlady was friendly, welcoming and helpful, and our continental breakfast the following morning was perfectly reasonable. Despite its situation by a roundabout we were not disturbed by traffic noise overnight. Overall, we found the Blacksmith' s Arms excellent value for money for people who just want a clean and cheerful overnight stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fresh but the bathroom could do with an upgrade. The second window in the room would need to be double glazed to try and block some of the traffic noise. Please not a cooked breakfast is not included in the room price. For a night stop over perfectly ok and a very reasonable price.

Bedroom was clean , tidy and comfortable bed. Ensuite in need of a makeover, shower pressure not strong. Hosts was friendly and helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced . Price was good. Place quite isolated will need own transport, free amble parking.

The owner was honest, helpful and informative on our arrival the rooms were clean and tidy and the restaurant and bar areas were nice and comfortable. The pub is only about 15 minutes drive away from Lewes train station which takes you to either Brighton or Eastbourne it was ideal for us has we were there for the football at Brighton.

Bedroom was ok - surprisingly quiet for location next to a roundabout. Bathroom was tired and could do with a facelift. Complimentary water and hot drinks and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. Night entry/exit was a bit rotten and not the nicest to walk through. Helpful and friendly staff. Food didn’t look like the pictures but was nice enough for pub food. Complementary continental breakfast was nice - pastries, yoghurt and cereal with juice and hot drinks.

Location fine. Welcome fine. Ambience of pub/restaurant fine. Pub meals ok. Rooms basic but clean which I can live with as I don’t spend much time in the room although pillows were too thin for a comfy night, in my opinion. Major let down though was the breakfast….I knew when I booked it was “continental” but meagre, long-life, high sugar, inedible offerings in a brown paper bag left outside your room? You could live with that for one night if you were passing through, but not for the four nights I stayed. I just kinda felt cheated. I am sure with a rethink on the breakfast front, they could so improve the experience.

Excellent hospitality from start to finish from Emma Gary and Toni Ate dinner at pub on first night which was very good Paid for full English breakfast which again was superb and worth the money charged Only reason didn't score 5 stars for everything was its an old building and undergoing refurbishment to certain areas which will add to its charm Value for money was good and would definitely stay again The only constructive criticism would be our room needed a black out curtain to stop the street light opposite and the dawn light waking us up so early but thats something that could be easily rectified and certainly didn't spoil our stay. Well done all a very enjoyable stay👍

Absolutely lovely welcome. Warm friendly staff. Great food - good choice of menu (we are vegetarian pescatarian and there were plenty of choices. Well cooked/presented food. Chatty, friendly, personable staff. Cosy pub atmosphere. Loved our visit. Would definitely recommend!

Night door for b&b rather unsafe. Pillows lumpy. Continental breakfast in a brown bag left outside the room door about 2130hrs. 2plastic wrapped danish pastries, a clementine or something, carton of apple juice, carton of jam and a Rice Krispies bar! Not forgetting the wooden knife! V poor…..chef not in or something? Noisy from an extractor outside and shower went freezing cold before I’d finished.

Very, very warm welcome, nice room (basic, but nicely done and comfortable), great menu for evening meals and a genuinely freshly-cooked and plentiful full-English for breakfast. Will stay again!!! Things to note: Ask for a room away from the road if traffic is a bother, and you will need to be able to manage stairs.

Old pub right on a busy roundabout, in the winter with closed windows is fine, in the summer with no AC or fan it's not a good place to spend the night. Staff very friendly, great beer poor food. OK value for the price.

This is a very nice hotel with warm, friendly staff, and a good breakfast. It is best to request a room at the back of the hotel if you are likely to be troubled by traffic noise as the A22 tends to have some traffic through the night. But very convenient for the Coast, the Downs and Glyndebourne. thanks for a great stay.
