Quality Inn & Suites Thunder Bay Downtown

Hotel and room had nice decor, friendly staff but room was very small, bathroom and shower tiny. Area around the hotel did not feel safe.

Parking is across the street and if there was a sign, we didn’t notice it. Not very convenient when you have heavy luggage

This was a very disappointing hotel experience during our trip. The hotel was visibly unclean, with garbage and debris throughout the hallways. The biggest issue was the air conditioner in our room. There were no windows that could be opened, so we depended entirely on the AC for ventilation. The AC started leaking heavily and flooded the floor. We were traveling with our cat, and it actually walked through the water before we realized what was happening. We reported the issue immediately, but the front desk told us that someone could not come to repair it until midnight. A technician eventually came, said it was fixed, and left. Just a few minutes later, the AC started leaking again. At our repeated request, we were told that the hotel would contact us by noon about changing rooms. Nobody contacted us, so we followed up ourselves around 4 p.m. The staff said they thought the problem had already been fixed. After we showed them a video of the ongoing leak, they finally agreed to move us—but only after we repeatedly requested a room change. The hotel never proactively offered a solution, provided no compensation, and the manager avoided communicating with us directly. Overall, the cleanliness, maintenance, communication, and customer service were far below expectations. We had to repeatedly push the hotel to address a serious problem ourselves. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for guests traveling with pets.

The breakfast was good. The night cleaning could have been better. The room sort of had a view of the lake.
