This incredible Art Deco hotel has all the charm, elegance and tranquility you would expect of an exclusive hotel. From arriving at the parking garage to the turn down service, everything is perfectly balanced to give you a restful and enjoyable stay. The live band 'Art Deco Trio' were superb, their on theme style and music provided just the right level of ambiance and made the dance floor the place to be. The original art deco features and thees cocktails provide a unique experience - don't expect modern tech or multi channel TV, that's not why you go to this hotel. I must shout out the Chef, the food was superb whether you were eating breakfast, canapes before dinner of a light lunch, everything was beautifully presented and exquisite. Don't forget the sea tractor - what an experience! Highly recommend a stay here, for some well earned rest, pampering and a time travel back to the 1920 and 30s.

We stayed for two nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. The hotel has such character and is on a beautiful island with amazing views in every direction. We particularly enjoyed a swim in the mermaid pool and dinner in the Pilchard Inn. The highlight was dressing for dinner and dining in the grand ballroom on my birthday. Our room, The Bentley Room, was beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed and a balcony with fantastic views. We loved the history of the hotel and island and found the staff extremely helpful. We will definitely be back!

The hotel has a fantastic location on its own island, which is 'cut off' (not completely, there is a sea tractor) for a few hours at every high tide.It's unique in its Art Deco style. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Food is good and the 1920/30s themed band with dancing 3 times a week is lots of fun.

Totally amazing. A true Art Deco experience. From parking the car, driven in the sea tractor, met at reception and shown into the Palm Bar with champagne. Simon made us feel very special as did all the staff. Can’t wait to come again

Made to feel special from arrival - charming driver in Land Rover collected is from their car park to take us to the island ….welcome champagne ….delightful canopes before dinner …spoilt over breakfast and luggage taken to the sea tractor for return home when still charming man took our luggage up to the car park. It is a special place …years ago when I stayed I missed having a TV and I couldn’t get phone reception …but the WiFi now works so I could relax … It is a wonderful place to go to escape

It's a truly unique location... being cut off by the tide twice a day on your own island. It's stunning. The attention to Art Deco is remarkable. It was spotlessly clean. The service is relaxed not over the top. The food was really good, not superb and perhaps not quite worth the price, but I get that you're paying for the location as much as anything. Love that the rooms don't have TVs to be authentic to the period. It's fun having the 4x4 transfer over the beach or the sea tractor through the waves. We'd go back again. It was really special for our anniversary

This Hotel is worth the experience and whilst the building is showing its age, it remains and retains its unique 'Art Deco' concept. The Staff are excellent and food is top quality. If you want to 'get away from it all' give it try, there are no TV's!

Light bulb in bathroom not working and the restaurant service went a bit downhill as the evening wore on but it was marginal and did not spoil what was a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Escapism A treat away for my 50th birthday. Exceptional service throughout our stay from bar and restaurant staff, through to the lovely cleaning ladies. Made my stay very special, fabulous food both at the Pilchard Inn and the black tie dinner. Any little issues were dealt with straight away and am already looking for an excuse to go back again, oh and you must brave it and take a swim in the mermaid pool.

Trading off its reputation and beautifully restored Art Deco Building , falls short in so many areas . The so called customer relations manager Vlad made a great show of our « very special « room only to show us to the worst room in the house so small it felt like we’d been put up in a caravan. Disgusting view of two roofs . My wife was reduced to tears a very special birthday trip ruined . How dare he mock his guests in such a contemptuous way. Fortunately we were accommodated in a more satisfactory room after one night by a more customer focused member of staff . The food was a disgrace either bland and tasteless or so overwhelming and overpowering as to be inedible after one night in the restaurant we cancelled and ate in the Pilchard Inn instead. The staff were largely charming and friendly although clearly untrained and unsupervised .

This is an experience rather than a hotel stay. From the moment we parked we were looked after by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were great, we had suite which was fully furnished in art deco style but with up to date touches; coffee machine. Underfloor heating.

The staff were effortlessly, smoothly friendly and professional and the surroundings were just beautiful. I liked that all the men were in their black tie suits at dinner-gave it a lovely vibe-and I thought I would feel underdressed but was also made to feel really comfortable. I would say my fish was a bit overcooked and the falafel canape was a little dry, but otherwise the food was delicious (the duck parfait was lovely) and the wine flight was well-thought out and worked with the dishes. The island itself and surrounding beach is just breathtaking and the room (Amy Johnson) was well-themed. Just missing some cups by the sink for toothbrushes ;-) But otherwise, just a brilliant stay.

Our 2 night stay was exceptionally good from start to finish. Every member of staff we met was excellent and really made our stay special. This, combined with the food and drink, location and ambiance means that, for us, it’s one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

This is an experience rather than a hotel stay. From the moment we parked we were looked after by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were great, we had suite which was fully furnished in art deco style but with up to date touches; coffee machine. Underfloor heating.

We loved the hotel, we thought the staff were friendly and helpful. Knocked a star off for the food, as an expensive meal that was very average. We pre ordered our wine in the bar for dinner but came half way through the main course, and we had to ask for it. Oysters were delicious and so was one of the puddings. At breakfast eggs were great but rest of food on plate was too salty to eat. So this just took edge off the whole experience.

Wonderful Escapism A treat away for my 50th birthday. Exceptional service throughout our stay from bar and restaurant staff, through to the lovely cleaning ladies. Made my stay very special, fabulous food both at the Pilchard Inn and the black tie dinner. Any little issues were dealt with straight away and am already looking for an excuse to go back again, oh and you must brave it and take a swim in the mermaid pool.

We stayed for two nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. The hotel has such character and is on a beautiful island with amazing views in every direction. We particularly enjoyed a swim in the mermaid pool and dinner in the Pilchard Inn. The highlight was dressing for dinner and dining in the grand ballroom on my birthday. Our room, The Bentley Room, was beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed and a balcony with fantastic views. We loved the history of the hotel and island and found the staff extremely helpful. We will definitely be back!

The hotel has a fantastic location on its own island, which is 'cut off' (not completely, there is a sea tractor) for a few hours at every high tide.It's unique in its Art Deco style. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Food is good and the 1920/30s themed band with dancing 3 times a week is lots of fun.

Wow what an amazing art deco hotel in an amazing location. The welcome was personal and warm. Nothing was too much trouble, every member of staff was so helpful. The food was great as well and I would not hesitate recommending a stay at this hotel. In addition it is a great example of art deco architecture as well as fixtures and fittings.

It was something that wife had wanted to do since she was a teenager. And now we both have, it is an iconic location with an amazing history and it has hosted some of the most famous people of the 20th century which include Winston Churchill to the Fab Four "The Beatles". It's a truly unique location... being cut off by the tide twice a day on your own island. It's stunning. The attention to Art Deco is remarkable. It was spotlessly clean. The service is relaxed not over the top. The food was really good, not superb and perhaps not quite worth the price, but I get that you're paying for the location as much as anything. Love that the rooms don't have TVs to be authentic to the period. It's fun having the 4x4 transfer over the beach or the sea tractor through the waves. We'd go back again. It was really special for our anniversary

Trading off its reputation and beautifully restored Art Deco Building , falls short in so many areas . The so called customer relations manager Vlad made a great show of our « very special « room only to show us to the worst room in the house so small it felt like we’d been put up in a caravan. Disgusting view of two roofs . My wife was reduced to tears a very special birthday trip ruined . How dare he mock his guests in such a contemptuous way. Fortunately we were accommodated in a more satisfactory room after one night by a more customer focused member of staff . The food was a disgrace either bland and tasteless or so overwhelming and overpowering as to be inedible after one night in the restaurant we cancelled and ate in the Pilchard Inn instead. The staff were largely charming and friendly although clearly untrained and unsupervised .

Wonderful stay. This was a surprise mini-moon gifted to us by family and it did not disappoint. Service was exceptional throughout, the hotel is different and memorable, but luxurious. Food was excellent, as well as the cocktails. It was just the relaxing few days by the sea we needed!

Burgh Island was fabulous. The one complaint was re the dress code. We had called in advance to find out what we should wear and was told no jeans and trainers. During our stay other guests were wearing jeans and trainers both in the Nettlefold restaurant during dinner and breakfast. This was a special trip for us so we were disappointed to find there appeared to be a disregard for the dress code. We had stressed over what was appropriate for us to wear so seeing others in jeans and trainers was not good. We really enjoyed our meal in the Nettlefold restaurant and would have dined in there on the other two evenings but it only serves fish so limits choice. We ate in the Pilchard Inn where the food and service was excellent. We did have a great stay. Many thanks to the staff and especially Mr James for making our overall experience fantastic.
