The room was comfortable and clean and the staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location, at a walking distance from many attractions. However, the hotel is not a typical 4 stars hotel. Many facilities as a bar, specious lobby or fitness room are missing. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Nice, modern hotel in the city centre (but on a quiet street). Friendly staff and quick check in. Had a suite for three people - it was large and offered a central TV wall to offer a degree of privacy for the comfortable sofa bed. Quite minimalistic (all white) but this gave a clean fresh feel. Breakfast was reasonable - also free coffee in reception throughout day. Easy walking to all main sights in Bilbao and in the heart of the shops.

Didn’t care much for this hotel during my 2 night stay. The window in my room faced a metal wall. It was very dark in the space, even during a sunny day with every light in the room turned on. The amenities listed an electric kettle. Mine did not have one and when I called to request it, the front desk said they didn’t have any left. There was a coffee machine in the lobby, but it wasn’t plugged in until 10:30AM. Seems a bit late for coffee. The room was miniature. There wasn’t enough space around the bed to roll out a travel sized yoga mat. There was a lot of noise from the hallway that woke me up on several occasions. Not a terrible hotel. It was renovated and clean and the Wi-Fi and air conditioning worked. The location was pretty decent to walk to cafes and about 15-20 minutes from the museums. Just wasn’t my cup of tea, and I couldn’t drink my cup of tea.

The location was excellent to visit both the museum and the old town. The hotel is more for business visitors who don't really care where they stay. The room while was clean it was smelling like mold and we had to keep the window open. The low rating is for the breakfast which was terrible. In a country where the coffee is a tradition the coffee was bad from a machine. All bakery products were stale nothing was fresh. The only things that were edible were the prepackaged yoghurts and the cake, nothing else. You cannot charge this breakfast for 13 EUR. You can have better breakfast somewhere else.

Room ha individual AC/heating and blackout curtains that did keep the light out. They have a breakfast buffet which seems like a good deal at 11 euro (prepaid, regular 17) but I am not a breakfast person. Great location, too.

Second time staying here. Asked for the same room, 606, as it was very quiet last time. 606 ready when we arrived. Receptionist sorted the AC to maximise cooling. Modern, clean, a fridge and a safe. Great location. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic hotel .very clean and in a good central location. Only issue we had was the window wouldn't shut properly which meant you could hear the traffic at night .we reported the issue which was not fixed but the hotel did move us to another room.would recommended this hotel

En hotel de 4* no puede tener un recepción por la noche un cartel a 1metro de las instrucciones de entrar en el hotel y menos a la recepcionista de anoche(una señorita rubia)con muy malos modales.Le llamamos 3veces porque no entendiamos las instrucciones y pensábamos que había que entrar por la puerta que hay pasado el hotel a mano derecha y nos contento muy mal que nos estaba abriendo la puerta,claro la principal que hasta que no te pones delante no se abre.Mal las instrucciones y peor la recepcionista.Por lo demás el hotel bien.

The hotel is very clean. The breakfast average to low, counting it is in Basque Country. I absolutely did not like front desk person. Not helpful, very formal, not warm at all. Did not help with the dining reservation, did not include breakfast price into final bill. We had to do it in the middle of the night.

We arrived early by bus and the receptionist was able to get us into a room early. Room was small but adequate. The available room was a handicapped room and I can see how it would be adequate for a wheelchair user. Quiet stay

Todo bien, lo unico que no me parecio nada bien, es qué me cobraron todas las noches, 7 dias antes de mi llegada a mi TC cuando yo había seleccionado la opción de pagar durante la estanca y en efectivo, cuando externe mi molestia a la chica del mostrador dijo que asi eran las políticas del hotel. No lo creo por qué en la plataforma de expedia no decia eso,simplemente no quisieron reconocer su equivocación.

This was my first time to Bilbao and Sercotel Ayala is a place I would return to in a heartbeat. Conveniently located, there's plenty to see within a 15 minute walk, and a multi-level shopping center just across the street is ideal to grab whatever you might need. The room was good sized, comfortable, and reasonably priced. Andrea (at the front desk) deserves special recognition for her outstanding efforts, helping with directions and giving very specific/helpful recommendations about the city and all it has to offer. There's plenty to see and do in Bilbao, and this hotel serves as a perfect "base camp" from which to explore!

The good: very close to train station, comfortable rooms that are fairly spacious, comfortable bed. Staff at desk were very helpful and friendly. The not-so-good: construction noise in the middle of the night, breakfast had good variety, but quality of some of food (very wet scrambled eggs and undercooked hard boiled eggs) was poor. They ran low on some items at 8am and that were not refilled timely. The breakfast room gentleman was friendly and helpful, but the lady who worked there on our second morning was not.
