TownePlace Suites by Marriott Outer Banks Kill Devil Hills

We had a wonderful 2 night stay & there is a safety Xing to the beach over Virginia Dare Trail. The beachside pool looks amazing (sadly closed for the season now), but facilities & walkway to the beach are amazing. There is an indoor pool available when the outdoor pool is closed. This hotel is marked as a two star hotel & I'd rather stay here than a lot of 3 & 4 star hotels. We had our two dogs with us & they enjoyed the dog friendliness of the hotel, there is even a dog run! I'd love to see you add a small entry chute to the dog run for dog owners to remove & rehook leashes. The hotel daily breakfast is nice (loved the small omelets on day 2, not so into the hard fried egg on day 1.) Maybe add plates & utensils to the small island area so you don't have a bottleneck at the toaster. I like that there are many examples of your hotel being green, i.e soap/shampoo/conditioner in dispensers in the shower, but you are using those small plastic creamer tubs-yikes! Please consider half & half in your small yogurt refrigerator & just put a note for guests by the coffee station. The room cleanliness was impeccable & that is unusual in a lot of dog friendly hotels. I like that there is a broom in the room for guests to clean up sand. Also, wow, the kitchen has a cooktop, refrigerator, cooktop, & microwave! We feed our dogs wet food daily, so the microwave is necessary. Enjoyed several dog friendly dining options in walking distance. We loved this hotel & we will be back!

We loved being able to do laundry and parking was easy. Walking across the street to the outdoor pool and beach was nothing at all. The rooms were spacious. We would stay here again!

The hotel was very clean, and the staff was friendly. I really liked that the beach was just across the street, and that the hotel had a beachfront building with restrooms, showers, pool, and a snack bar.

The property was generally well maintained and clean. The pool and beach access are across the street, but we didn't have any trouble crossing at the crosswalk. The pool is nice but relatively small without too many chairs (we brought our own beach chairs). The beach access is nice with a few decks overlooking the beach. The last step to get down to the beach was a bit tricky and held in place by a loose pile of bricks which was a bit of a safety issue.

No hot water for three days. Reported to staff multiple times.

The place needs upkeep, many room walls needed cleaning or repainting, Furniture showed many signs it wear. Outdoor locks were broken. Breakfast’s crew was slow to refill empty containers or empty garbage cans. There is only one elevator for the whole building, we chose to walk the stairs since it’s too inconvenient to get to the elevator. Not enough carts for the guest belongings. I expected better for the money we spent.

Great amenities! On site indoor and outdoor pools, sun decks, grills and plenty of outdoor seating. We had a wonderful time. We will book this location again.

I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties. My only issues here were there was hair on the pillows when we first got to our room and the shower was also extremely slippery as my 9 year old fell almost immediately when he got in. Overall it was nice, but wish the cleanliness was a little better.

Hotel is directly across from the ocean. Wonderful location and great choice for traveling to Kill Devil. Room was not spacious. Dishes in dishwasher from last guest and there was a cockroach in the bathroom.

Check in was fast and pleasant. We have stayed here before, the room was not as clean. Dishes still in the dishwasher, debris in the shower and floor had cereal in the corner floor . Breakfast was ok but had to use the microwave in the pantry area to heat up our food.

Room was supposed to be a king it was a queen. Had no area to eat in the room no chairs or table We had to clean the room ourselves very dusty and dirty when we checked in. Towels were limited daily.

The bathroom needs a fan because it gets very steamy and humid. Additionally, we had a drainage issue in the tub that has not been resolved. I also wish there were a sofa in the room. On a positive note, the kitchen was a nice feature, and the room itself is spacious. However, the elevator needs cleaning, and overall cleaning in the area could be improved. The corners of the base walls specifically require dusting.

our room was very humid and smelled like dog.. the humidity was to the point where the floor was damp to walk on. there was wall damage in the bathroom.. rusty fan vent above the shower.. our air conditioner made metal grinding sounds and extremely loud.. the bed was clean so that was nice.. honestly couldn't wait to get out of there and back on the road. staff seemed friendly.. dog poop left around and in the dog park. p

The lady at the desk not so helpful or friendly. The hotel room was not clean. False eyelashes stuck to a clip board, tape all over the ceilings, floors dirty and smelled. We have stayed here last year and was so much better that visit.

Booked the most expensive room ocean front and really enjoyed our room until we heard alot of jumping around and thumping cpming from roomabove us. After waiting an hour for it to stop we called down to front desk and she said she would call the room above us. Hour later still non stop thumping called again and she said the people said they were not making any noise. I went upto third floor and did indeed seen a family with two small children coming out of the room. We asked for a different room which they graciously gave us but no longer have full ovean view. The rooms are clean spacious I recommend asking from r a third floor room only.

Large comfortable and clean rooms!

Hotel was decent - property could use a lot of maintenance for only being 5 years old. Overall clean, free breakfast was nice and good selection. Rooms are on the small side, and cleaning service is only every other day IF you request. Kitchenette in room is nice - and pool facilities/oceanfront area very nice! Walls are a bit thin, so if you're as lucky as we were to have someone above you who is up and moving around ALL night long - you will hear it clearly.

I like the hotel overall but the beds and pillows weren't comfortable and the walls are super thin. You can hear people speaking in the room next to you. There was a heavy walker above us and this person kept walking back and forth for much of the evening into the night. The shower wasn't that strong and the shower door's seal was coming loose. I liked the two pools and access to the beach but because of the thin walls and being able to hear everything around you, I wouldn't stay here again if I came back to OBX.

Our room listing said partial ocean view and it was less than partial, the bathroom door didn't lock and the bathroom vent didn't work, but overall it was a nice place! Just we had a balcony so we could step out and possibly see more ocean view.

The rooms were comfortable but there was only one chair which was at a desk, windows unable to open, no fans, no balconies...no means of getting fresh air into room. It did have a delightful observation deck next to the beach which we utilized. Also, in order to have internet, we had to join the Marriott group. Also, no recycling so we brought our recyclables home to recycle.

Fun quick trip to ObX. First time staying at this hotel and it was very nice! Enjoyed the location and all the hotel amenities. Modern, clean, large room, comfortable beds and a great little kitchenette!

I like so much, I lowered a star because the room above me was loud and obnoxious and the bed didn't seem as comfortable as before.

Love the location, pet friendly and some of the amenities. The person that checked me in was not the most friendly person. I requested that our room receive housekeeping services. We had a dog with us however he was out with us quite a bit. Never received the services. We needed towels, we asked a housekeeper in the hallway for towels and she told us that we had to go to the lobby. The mini store had a wind rack however the staff stated that they had no license to sell wine. The bar by the outdoor pool closed early at times, not very accommodating.

Our overall stay was wonderful. The room was nice and clean and the staff was wonderful mostly as well. However, our check in was a nightmare. We ended up arriving later than expected. We didn’t call ahead but we have arrived late before, not called and never had an issue. When we arrived we were told our room was given away because we arrived late but that we could book a new reservation if we wanted. That meant paying double! All of this was overly complicated because the manager apparently decided not to come in that day and the poor girls at the desk were doing everything they could.

INITIALLY we had to change rooms due to a noisy upstairs family. this messed up our entire first afternoon of our stay. Also the phone didnot work in the room so when we wanted to call and report the noise we could not. The Staff helped to get us a new room but by then our afternoon was all messed up. why should we have to move when someone else was the problem? We feel that we should be refunded part of our stay. We had driven 8 hours, needed a rest before going to a fund rasier for cancer, needed dinner before the outing, but all of this was messed up. After we repacked up our stuff and headed to our new room, things were very nice. We have stayed here before and enjoy the accomodations very much . The continental breakfast was very bland. the hot items were not even warm. We elected not to eat there after the first try. This also added to the cost of our trip as we had planned on eating continental breakfast to save on costs. We are in our 60's and relocating rooms was a stress for our stay. We hope to hear from you and honestly expect a reply Thank you

This place was perfect! The location was great across the street from the ocean, with private access through the hotel. We had an ocean view from our room. It was a great place to watch the sunrise. The rooms have a stove, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig and dishwasher, with dishes and pots and pans. The free breakfast was excellent. Hot food, healthy choices and it was quick to eat inside or out on the balcony. Coffee and tea available 24 hours. There is a gas grill available outside with tables and a patio area with a gas fire pit for relaxing. The salt water pool is open long hours which was nice to relax in after a long day of exploring all the towns of the outer banks. Although we didnt have a pet, it was nice to see they allowed dogs and cats for families to include them. There is a grassy area to walk them on site. The front desk staff were very friendly. We were there before peak season so there were was plenty of free parking. They also have an outdoor pool that will be open in peak season. I highly recommend this hotel and definitely will be back!

Easy walk to restaurant and beach.

Solid property, great central location, literally across street from public access beach.. Breakfast bar well stocked, no complaints, as good as reheated previously frozen items can be... would love waffles, fresh oatmeal and hard boiled eggs.

Nice property. Breakfast closes at 9:30 which was surprising.

I was told that breakfast was served from 6 to 9 am. When i arrived at 8:50 there were no eggs, bacon or sausages. The attendant told me that they were not cooking more.

Our stay was great. The property was nice, clean, had good amenities and great location. The only minor let down was breakfast. Not a lot of options and they ran out of milk and yogurt and didn’t replenish for several days.

Breakfast was God Awful, how can anyone make scrambled eggs taste like that,?? It clearly isn't justscrambled eggs, what are you mixing in it? and the rest of the cooked food was equally bad.

Extremely disappointed in the breakfast. Not only was food items cold but some were still frozen. Also, the coffee was watered down. All in all the property was clean, however my pillow case was stained. Not what you want to see before putting your head on it.

I have stayed here many times but this is the first time we ever had this happen. Every morning 30 minutes before breakfast was over the staff would wipe out the entire breakfast. The problem is when we would ask for something that was out we were told they did not have anymore. This happened with cereal and milk everyday.

Nice, clean and quiet. Breakfast was hot but not many options for hot food. Advertisement should be made to list the bar is a pool bar and closed during off season.
