Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Birmingham Downtown

The room and hotel were nice and clean. Unfortunately something happened to my keychain while the valet had my keys. My keychain bear’s limbs are missing and my heart charm is broken. We didn’t realize this until after we left.

The room was very clean. The staff was amazing. And the great thing was the valet parking was only $35 a day and was able to come and go as pleased.

The suites are very large and roomy! Beds were comfy and room was very clean. Front desk associates were always very friendly. Parking can be an issue. Street parking (if you're lucky), parking garage (across the street $20 per day) or valet ($36.00 per night + tips). We chose the valet option. Seemed the most convenient. Valets were always very friendly as always gave personal suggestions on restaurants and directions. If you choose valet, plan to pay your tips by cash and do not choose to pay them on the app. The valets said they do not get the money. Overall, I would recommend this Hotel.

Good central location in downtown. Very clean but found water in coffee machine and did not work in the morning so was bummed also because air conditioner looks very old and did make very loud noise thru the night so woke me up a few times. Since I stayed below the gym then very early morning the noise of the weights being dropped on the floor woke me up! Ordered my car from valet parking as they said about 20’ prior to me needing it and they apologized as they did not have it ready and the number in ticket did not match so was very hectic morning and it made me get late to the appointment I had. Nice service in reception and even in Valet but just disorganized.

No security, only offer valet, you have to walk 4 blocks to other parking garage, a lot of homeless people that follow you right to your room

Either you pay $35 for valley parking or park behind the building where someone broke into a car the night before. This was not clear on the booking site that you have to essentially find your own parking! Terrible location! No water in the rooms and the bed mattresses were TERRIBLE. Only a single blanket for the sleep sofa, ridiculous. The room had hardly any power outlets, none in the night stands. They also initially booked us into a room with one single bed for 3 adults, how did they not see that!

Wasn’t a fan of the parking situation but everything else was great!

Parking was $38 per night vs. the $22 per night advertised on Expedia. The overall feel of the hotel strange and the room set up was odd.

People who stay here must know that there is no onsite parking unless a valet does it, for 35 per night, and that nearby public parking is 20 per night, unless you park on the street'

Everything was fine other than the refrigerator having food left over as well as trash in the trash can from the previous guest.

Shower did not drain. Used washcloth was in shower. Hairball was in bed then sheets were turned down.

The staff is nice, very polite. We found a crack pipe under the bed. The mattress’s had big stains, walls were all scuffed up with marks and overall it wasn’t very clean. I’ve been a cop for 9 years and I took the glass crack pipe to the front desk and showed her and all I got was “oh wow”. Having a crack pipe in a room with your two small children isn’t the safest environment or most welcoming. We could have got provided another room, discount on the room anything other than “oh wow”. I will not ever be staying here again or recommending it to anyone.

The room was clean, no issues from us!

My check in was great. The guys that were working the desk had excellent customer service. When I got to the room there were crumbs under my telephone and hair all over the bathroom. There was hair in the sink, around the toilet and in the shower. I called down and again the guy who answered the phone had great customer service and said he would send someone up. The person who came up I believe she was a manager. She went in the bathroom and said she only saw two hairs and I let her know that there should have been no hairs even though I had pictures and the video showing otherwise. She left without an apology, without saying someone would be back to clean it or any type of empathy. About 10 minutes pass so I went downstairs. I showed the young man the video and he said he would send someone that's up pronto. Two housekeepers came and were very apologetic. They did an excellent job refreshing my bathroom. The lady in the suit should take notes.

Very good experience at this location better than most. The staff was very friendly in accommodating, and everything seemed to be fine.The room was superior and clean and large.

Although the service staff was exceedingly friendly, the hotel condition is TERRIBLE. None of the items you would expect in any chain hotel were not included. NO CLOSETS in the rooms - a flimsy wardrobe bolted to the wall like 5 inches wide, with NO HANGERS. NO full length mirror. If you want to plug in your electronics,ONLY ONE plug, and not near the bed. I was unable to use a medically necessary CPAP machine. Plug in bathroom didn't work. No blow dryer, and when I called for one, the replacement provided also didn't work. Got one on the third try but had to use it without a mirror in the room. The parking on the Expedia site indicated $15 per night self park - but in reality only valet parking at $35 per night! Parking not on the hotel property is a scary, dark lot across the street with no clear instructions of how to pay. Asked multiple times to speak to a manager, and never heard anything. No manager on the property all weekend. I posted a complain on Marriott Bonvoy where I am a platinum member, and no action taken. When I called Marriott, they said I had to deal directly with the property. Called the property 5 times over 2 days to get to front desk to ask for manager, and never managed to reach a human being. This experience has dramatically reduced my impression of Marriott. AVOID THIS HOTEL

The staff at the property was very friendly and helpful. Parking is valet, but staff was very quick and it was convenient. The neighborhood was completely quiet on a Sunday night. We were there for an event at the theater around the corner and felt very safe walking there and back at night. There are many restaurants in the area - many are closed on a Sunday night but we found plenty of open options. The room was smallish but clean. The heater was very loud but effective.

Very nice property with a great location. Only complaint was the a/c made loud noises when it started up in the middle of the night

Everything was good, not enough closet space, lighting, and one chair in the room, had to sit on the bed to eat dinner.

Apparently First street the hotel is on,is used at night for illegal drag racing. Very loud we did not sleep at all.

Comfortable bed and big room

Went to Birmingham, AL for the Sidewalk Film Festival, as an aside, Film Festival was excellent. Fitness Center and Breakfast were excellent. Room was quite comfortable. All in All a very delightful satay!

The room was comfy and more spacious than most hotels for an overnight stay. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in during a hotel stay. Fairfield downtown Birmingham is so convenient to many downtown venues. If we should visit again, we will definitely stay here!

The room was very noisy. The air conditioning was so loud. The outside noise was terrible it was like you were at the Indy 500. And we were on the 6th floor

Friendly professional staff. Easily accomodated us on a change as reservations had ignored there were three of us rather than two. Check-in nonetheless went smoothly.

They canceled my room after 12. And left me stranded in downtown Birmingham over nite cause everyehefe was full

I was traveling from Georgia to Birmingham, unfortunately, there was a state of emergency issued in Georgia, and also a state of emergency issued in Alabama the two days I was traveling due to impending storms and tornadoes ( A storm that is so far has killed 36 people mind you) The hotel refused to refund my nonrefundable rate, even due to the state of emergency! Hotels.com was great. They directly called the hotel for me to see if they would waive the fee, the hotel manager said no. I spoke with Marriott Bonvoy directly. They said they could not believe they were not refunding me, but they were an individual franchise so there was not much they could do. The hotel manager. Brittany was supposed to call me back, but I have yet to hear from her.

The 2 gentlemen at the front desk upon arrival were so very courteous. The lady at checkout was very polite and asked me what could be done to make my stay even better- the stay was great. Even the gentleman working the breakfast was so kind. Great staff

Been staying here for the past 2 years in a bi-weekly basis. Always liked it as a basic, easy work hotel. On my last trip, I received an email that the hotel canceled my reservation and that they were oversold. I reserved on Hotels.com and prepaid. They still canceled me and couldn’t have the decency to call and explain the situation and offer to help. Horrible customer service and terrible business model. This will be the last time I stay here!

Staff were so nice and friendly. The rooms were nice & the hotel is in a great location and walkable. We went to a concert at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater & it was a quick Uber ride. We really enjoyed our stay, and would stay again.

The propeety was quiet and the restraunt in the sister hitel was very good. The staff was welcoming and so nice as were the valet attedance.

The hotel is not worth the money they’re charging for it, you’re basically paying for the convenience of location. The walls are super then, felt like my wife and I were in the same room as the people next to us, who talked very loud all through the night. There were also roaches spotted during breakfast the following morning, not worth the money.

I usually stay here when I’m in town but this weekend was a disaster. My room was not cleaned thoroughly hair was in the shower and on the sink. I had a half of roll of toilet tissue in the bathroom which should’ve been a new roll. My thermometer wasn’t working in my room so I was hot all night. Lastly the breakfast was awful my sister had a bug in her food and the bread had mold on it. I will not be staying here again.

Continental Breakfast, floor was quiet, free Wfi, enough towels in room for all parties that stayed and didn't have to request more. There was not anything I just disliked other than when checking out, billing was not done as arranged by the chapter I was visiting and a representative of the hotel.

We had a group of families. The description of the rooms were completely wrong. One of the families had to leave and stay at a different hotel. Service was not friendly. Breakfast had limited options and was not being serviced as needed. Had to wait over 30 mins for plates, coffee cups, utensils, etc. Would not stay here again.
