Excellent refurb. Not stayed for many years but a vast difference from the Golf Inn days. Only point might be its a bit pricey in the Stables restaurant.. Also need stronger coffee in the mornings - stick an extra spoon in the pot please!

Everything was perfect! Nothing was spared. We were greeted warmly, the extra little touches made this one of the best stays on our holiday! Can’t wait to come back!

Stayed 2 nights

This establishment has created an interesting layout with care and attention to detail - and serves exquisite food and is 5 star most of the way......except that it allows dogs on the premises - even to stay in the bedrooms with their owners!! It was dry and sunny during our stay but even then the smell of dogs was pervasive, especially when entering the cottage where our room was located. The paths between the rooms and the main building had dog poo left by the guests’ dog(s) on at least two occasions - forcing us to gingerly navigate around various faeces. The outdoor (but small and fully enclosed) BBQ area can at busy times be full of dogs mostly off the leash and rooting around as dogs do. Dogs seem to be permitted in every public room (as well as bedrooms). My wife and I would never have darkened the door of this establishment had we known that dogs were allowed such free rein - dogs have their place but it is not in areas where people sleep or eat. It’s unhygienic no matter how good the cleaning regime may be. Is it even legal to allow dogs into eating areas and bedrooms in a hotel? We like dogs but they need to be in their place and a relatively upmarket hotel/restauarant is not it.
