Stayed 3 nights

Bedroom needed some maintenance. Wash basin tap was very loose, and the central reading light (only one in room) would not work. Noise from powerful motor bikes every night between 6pm and 8-30pm was unbelievable. They use the main road outside the pub like a formula one racing circuit. Apparently several riders have been killed over the years.

Stay was perfect could not fault anything. Elaine and her staff went the extra mile and it's nice to feel completely comfortable, felt like we had known them for a long time Will definitely be back, lovely location, great room and one of the most comfortable beds ever slept in..

Stayed 2 nights

Stayed at the Black Dog Inn in Bolton for two nights. The room itself was comfortable enough for the price, so no major complaints there. However, the overall experience was disappointing. The first night was a write-off in terms of sleep. Staff gave a late booking to a couple who had been drinking in the pub, and they stayed up most of the night with the TV on at a very high volume. There’s clearly little to no sound insulation, as it felt like the noise was coming from inside the room. Housekeeping was also lacking. Despite leaving a sign on the door requesting the room be cleaned, it wasn’t reset after the first night and towels weren’t changed. Small details were missed too, like no cups provided for the kettle and tea-making facilities. For the price, it’s not the worst place to stay, but the noise and lack of attention to basic service would put me off returning.
