THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA

The location is fantastic

I do not have one good thing to say about this hotel. It was one of the worst hotels me and my partner have ever stayed in. Our first room was so dirty we had to ask to move as I’d found a used cigarette butt stuck to the wall, blood on the wall and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t seen bleach in 10 years. Every single inch of the room was dirty. It truly was the most miserable place on Earth. The room is so small and cramped, the smallest of the hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. The bathroom is a dark dirty cave with a gross shower curtain. We moved rooms and the only good thing about this room was that it was ever so slightly bigger . But the bathroom was full of mould the sink was dirty and the shower leaked under the sink every single time. It was truly unbearable and ruined the end of our Japan trip. This hotel doesn’t know what it what’s to be a hostel or a hotel. But it’s not doing either well, don’t be fooled by the free drinks. It’s half a bottle of beer between two if you’re lucky. The staff are miserable and unhelpful, the check in process is extremely disorganised espically having two hotels in the same building. Don’t send your bags or leave your bags at the hotel as they are just left in middle of the hotel lobby with a note saying don’t touch. I asked to borrow a mirror which they offer to guests it had facial hair attached. The most overpriced dirtiest place I’ve stayed. I wish we hadn’t stayed here and sadly I have nothing good to say.

Great location with less than a minute walk to the station. Room size was fine since it was just me staying. Definitely liked the size of the tub and it’s deep. Definitely some downsides that I only found out after checking in. The room is so dimly lit. Even the bathroom is a dark blue with a blue bathtub. Such a hassle to put on make up because of insufficient lighting and even in the bathroom the sink has various cutouts so there’s not much space for any product. There is no air con, just a knob for “low or high temp”. (My room stayed on the cooler side like I wanted, but don’t like that I couldn’t feel the air or see the exact temperature). The walls were thinner than expected, you could hear the neighbors and people in the hallway. No problems with staff, check in and check out were easy. Bed was fine, glad to not have a twin bed.

The location is perfect, 2 mins walk to subway station. ( that means you can pretty much go anywhere within 30 mins in fukuoka) Not too much space but more than enough for a single traveller.

Positive: Nice location with many shops and restaurants. Free drinks and DJ playing music between 5:30-6:30pm. Nice decor on the first floor and hip and young vibe. Nice staff and very smooth check in and check out. Negative: Bathroom was very small and tight, and looked like they just painted over super old bathroom. It definitely needs serious update. Sink had some cracks and water draining super slow for both sink and bath tub. Both room and bathroom were very dark, either it may be intentional. It is hard for woman to put make up on in that dark environment. No YouTube or streaming platform options on TV. Tv remote kept going on and off and couldn’t change channel consistently. Breakfast is not a buffet style so they will give you a preset plate for Japanese or Western style. The foods were “creative” and I couldn’t go for less or more of what I wanted and didn’t want. It felt a little wasteful to me. I may stay here again, maybe upgrade my room next time, just because of the location and free drink service for the one hour window.
