The photos on the website don't do the property justice, as it is a lot more bright and attractive than they suggest. We found it a pleasant place to stay.

We really enjoyed our short stay at the Carthouse. It's a lovely property in Axbridge, with Cheddar Gorge within easy reach. Communication with Val was excellent and also waited on the side of the road to show us the entrance to the side road. The Carthouse was spotlessly clean and Val had left several thoughtful items to get us started including bread, milk, wine and cider! Thank you Val, it was much appreciated. We'd have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property.

So glad the Cart House came up when I was scrolling through the list of available Somerset properties. Not only is Axbridge a wonderfully vibrant and picturesque little town, but the Cart House itself turned out to be the perfect base for our stay. The old building has been transformed with imagination and sensitivity, creating a large, airy space with tasteful furniture, a modern, well-appointed kitchen, a smart bathroom and a comfy bed. It is all scrupulously clean. We loved the way that the light fell across the living space from the various windows. It was fun to meet Val, who showed us round, and had left us a very handy and generous starter pack. It was a particular boon to have a parking space in this town of narrow streets. The approach is a little tight, but very negotiable with care. It takes just a few minutes to walk into the lively town square where every building is of interest. We ate twice at the Lamb, greatly enjoying the food and the range of seating, at the front and in the extensive garden at the back. Ripley's and the Almshouse Tea Shop were both very pleasant places for coffee and snacks. The parish church is a beauty. We made trips to Wells and the coast, both within easy reach. Oh, and for fans of the BBC's 'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder', the town is a must-visit!

A lovely village with a fab square to sit have a few drinks and some good food. Even better when the suns out. This was an excellent location to visit lots of other areas such as the Gorge and coastline. The house was well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing break.
