Hampton Inn Salem Boston

The pool was closed for 3 days of my vacation as well as being charged 199 dollars for 12 dollars of items. There was also a parking issue having to park on second floor that had no elevator access and I’m handicapped. Overall for the price I was unhappy with the stuff that went wrong. I will not stay there again!

Overall hotel stay was pretty good, valet and the people at the desk were great. Room was nice and comfortable amd clean, the shower area was really the only issue in the room as it was slightly dirty but thats somethingi expect with every shower. The breakfast area was incredible. The location of the hotel was perfect. We were able to walk almost everywhere we went. We went to spend some time in the pool area and while the water was warm, it was also a bit cloudy so it could definitely use some work. All in all it was a very good stay for my wife and i but i would be a little careful if you are bringing young ones as there was a lot of hall ways noise friday and saturday nights around midnight from people at the bars

Very comfortable and great convenient location - wonderful heated pool - one of the elevators did not want to work for us even with the key - the lcd screen read "error" - tried a couple of times and had a moment of thinking we might be stuck when the door would not open - then someone called for the elevator on another floor and the door opened on that floor to our relief. We got off and waited for the other elevator which worked fine.

Weather was terrible during our stay (snow storm) but the indoor parking helped. Room was great, morning breakfast area was awesome, gym was adequate to get a decent workout in. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location, walkable to what we wanted to do in Salem, MA. Although it was $25 a night, it was good to have our vehicle in a garage. Room was very clean and the included breakfast was welcome. The shower door would not stay all the way closed while taking a shower. It would slide open slightly.

Our room was clean, the pool was great, the gym was super nice, breakfast was plentiful and had a great spread, the service was kind and helpful and the location was wonderful to be able to walk to everywhere in Salem. Our only two complaints, were that the pillows were horrible. We asked for more, and all six were bad. Also, if you are a light sleeper like us, there is a ton of road noise. We heard tons of honking and sirens every night and every morning that we stayed there for five nights. We didn't sleep well, even though the bed was very comfortable. Overall, we were happy with our stay!

Convenient location, paid parking ($27/night) onsite, clean room, good condition, friendly staff, lots of restaurants nearby, safe area. Typical hotel breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage and lots of sugary things. We stayed two nights and ate the breakfast once then went out the second day. NOTE - there is a country western bar in the same building and our 3rd floor room was directly overhead. We could hear the band while going to sleep. This was a Saturday night. Be sure to get a room on a higher floor on the opposite end of the building if you want some quiet time. Very expensive. You’ll pay less in Peabody, the next town over.

Our room smelled like ‘wet dog’. We transferred to another room and the smell was the same ‘wet dog’. Didn’t bother to ask for another room. We used perfume to cover the smell.

The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was probably really nice when the hotel was new but it was rather dirty during my stay. The shower floor had a large crack that retained dirt. Every corner of the shower was grimy and needed a heavy bleaching. Thankfully I had rubber sandals with me I wore as “shower shoes.” The staff were all exceptionally friendly and the free breakfast was great. The garage parking was very convenient and the hotel with walkable to old town Salem.

Pretty average property. Average room, with very noisy aircon. Bathroom had a wet dirty towel in the shower when I checked in. Mentioned it to the front desk and when I came back from dinner it was still there. If I walked barefoot on the carpet in the room, dirt ran off my feet in the shower. Ridiculously high charge for overnight parking. Good location with lots of dining options in easy walking distance.

Lobby lovely. Breakfast adequate and breakfast room clean. Hallways smelled and elevator floors dirty throughout stay. Room also had an unappealing smell, hair on the pillow case. In spite of cleanliness it was a convenient location.

The rooms were clean. I used the fitness center, and it became clear on my second visit to the center that staff rarely cleans it. Some of the equipment was still left in the same spots and the bench and floors were dirty and had spills and sweat stains. If it wasn't for this, I would have rated everything a 5.

Room was dirty. There was a Tick on the bed and when I pulled down the sheets, there were crumbs and hair. I called the front desk and they said they would send up housekeeping but they never did.

Arrived and the bathroom smells like mildew. I asked guest service to clean it and they said ok. There were mold spots on the tub and maintenance just put a little bit of caulking over it which fell right off. So probably spent days breathing in mold

I’ll start with the bad, property isn’t that clean the carpet all around is dirty and so are the elevators, our room upon arrival had a hairball and lashes on the bathroom floor we asked to be moved and our second room was still dirty but better we just stuck with it. Other than that the staff is nice, breakfast is good and is constantly being restocked, they offer coffee & tea in the lobby which was great. It’s a nice location close to everything. If I come back to Salem I will probably stay again

The ac in our room was broken so it was uncomfortably warm, the room also smelled like a wet dog and the carpet was sticky, The staff was very accommodating and allowed us to switch rooms for the last night of our stay since the AC was not able to be fixed, im fairly certain they had to remove the unit completely from the room. While the second night was fine, the first night was uncomfortable.

Bathroom ceiling had mold above shower. Pool water looked dirty and pool lining had green spots on it. Breakfast was good and hotel was walking distance to a lot of tourists destinations.

Room was clean. Had a problem with being on 4th floor with the gym above me (who puts a gym above rooms?!) but was moved to 5th floor next day. Conveniently located. Didn’t need my car for anything.

Listened to motorcycles racing outside between 7-10 PM. Just annoying. We stay in Hampton hotels a lot through Expedia. These have to be the SMALLEST king size bedrooms that I have ever stayed in. We felt crammed. Was broadsided by the $25 a night parking fee above the room price when we arrived. Otherwise, this Hampton is good.

Front desk were friendly, room was spacious however the carpet needs updating, the tiolet tank cover was broken but everything was clean. Checkin was at 3pm , i arrived at noon and had to pay a early room fee $50 to get my room rather than wait. I paid the fee as i was tired from my trip. Location was ideal and walkable to everything.

The heater in our room was pretty loud it kept clicking to turn on in the middle of the night. It only did this while we were already in bed Otherwise we would have asked for another room.

Typical of what you would expect of a Hampton Inn Only complaint is rooms over the restaurant/bar on a Friday night was very noisy until the closed at 2 pm. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the crowds and music thumping. Had to move. Staff was helpful.

Room 509 was the loudest hotel experience I've ever had due to traffic and building noise. Nightmare.

Two things bothered me - because of the barn style door to the bathroom, your roommate can See and Hear you going to the bathroom. Also the doors to the rooms are tremendously heavy, which means they slam every time someone goes in or out of their room. Other than that, the hotel was great.

Only issue was the gentleman checking me in. Very confusing..booked 3 rooms ..just had one under my name. Had to run my card 3 4 times for charges...confusing..key given had issues names swap on rooms. Waiting on manager who late to work to figure out whats going on

The hotel itself was very clean and modern. The location was convenient and close to all major attractions in Salem which made it easy to walk. The staff were very nice and tried their best to be helpful, but someone had a similar name who was scheduled to check in the same evening. When I was an hour and a half out, I received an alert that I had checked in. When I got to the hotel, the valet asked if I had checked in already in a seperate vehicle. When I got to the front desk, they asked for my ID and charged me for my stay. The amount was incorrect compared to when I booked so I questioned it. Turns out they had checked in the guest with the similar name under my reservation and were charging me for her amount. We, I thought got it squared away and was given keys to a room, which required me having to go back and forth from the desk and room five times before finding out the room number written wasn’t the room I was supposed to be in. Once that was corrected I again went up to my room to walk into a room that was already occupied by the person they checked in under my reservation. I again went back down and re figured out the mix up. Mind you the desk was extremely helpful during all of this. The next day I reconfirmed we still had our room for another night and was assured we did. When I went to leave, my $310 charge was now over $700. They charged me for BOTH rooms. Again, they were very helpful and it was resolved. Just keep an eye on your charges when staying here.

Door key card reader was not working properly, had to be let into our room MULTIPLE times. To which our ID was NEVER checked ONCE! (Who knows who they would let in!) House keeping - very lacking! They came in once and took out the trash and replaced the towels but that was literally it! Beds were unmade and soap and such was not replenished. In fact, we were totally out of conditioner! The room was not vacuumed even once. The dispensary near the hotel was awful- it smelled so bad!!!! The deliveries and other large vehicle deliveries were at 5 AM and so loud!!!! The window shades both sun and blackout were difficult to operate.

The staff at the front desk was not very friendly.

From the front desk at check in to checkout everyone was lovely and kind. If you had questions they would happily answer it, they had little cheat sheets of great food, historical locations to check out and great activities for families. This hampton in was very clean and easy to navidate through.

I have never felt pushed out of a hotel during a trip before this. We child and I left a day early due to the horrendous attitude the front desk staff gave to me. From the moment I checked in, there were issues. That’s fine, not everything is always smooth. I paid hotels.com for three nights and when I checked into the hotel they only had me down for two nights. No problem, I contacted hotels.com and they reimbursed me for the third night. So the first day of my trip I went back to the lobby and reserved a third night directly through them. The second evening of my trip, my child wanted to get an ice cream from the hotel convenience shop. I went to the front desk to charge it to my room. The very nice gentleman not only took care of that for us, he also asked me if I would like to refresh my cards for the next and final night of my trip. That was very helpful, thank you. After he refreshed my cards I asked him if we were all set for our last night and double checked that we could stay in the same room that we had, given that we had to get an extra night through them on my first night. He assured me that we were all set. The next morning, a little after 11am the housekeeping manager came to my door to ask me if I wanted to get a late check out. I told him we were staying an extra day and didn’t need housekeeping. Five minutes later, the rudest woman called my room and demanded that I come down to the lobby and pay for another night. I was flabbergasted and had enough, we left.

Please make sure that your address is correct when you get your emailed receipt. Even though the staff member reviewed my ID at check-in, it appears that she ignored the fact that the information listed in the system was Incorrect. I noticed they had an out of state address listed well after my return from the trip. Now working with Expedia to resolve this issue. As far as the stay goes, it is convenient, has good parking, breakfast was good, and the room was comfortable.

Don't bother to stay here! My visa was charged the full amount on the first day, and then on their end it didn’t show as having been paid, which resulted in 4 days of mystery charges appearing, which are above the amount quoted for the room. The manager was extremely unreasonable and unhelpful, insisting that this is a problem with my bank and not offering to phone head office or hampton inn financial to find out what the problem is. I still have charges Im having my bank dispute.

We stayed 1 night. Check in was quick and gentleman was nice. We were given a corner room with great views of the harbor and streets below. Our room was clean, bed was comfy. Bathroom was clean and water was hot. No noise. Shops are within walking distance. We were charged for overnight parking but was worth it because we took a quick walk around the town before we left. I would stay here again.

We had a very nice stay at Hampton Inn in Salem. The staff was courteous and professional, the room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel seems brand new with very modern finishes. Great location too, just a short walk from Essex Street and the major landmarks in Salem. Surrounding the hotel are a couple of restaurants and a Starbucks is directly across the street. They have an attached parking garage too which is super convenient (I think it was $22 for the night which may seem high but parking seems to be tough in Salem, so it’s worth it). I would absolutely stay at the Hampton again. And PS it’s pet friendly which I love!

Great location, could easily walk to sights and train station for Boston side trip. Friendly staff. Was a little disappointed that I had to pay additional fees to park at hotel.

Super close to anything you want in Salem. Parking is on site and easy to use. Breakfast had some options and changed every other day, so you aren't eating the same foods every morning.

Fantastic location a block away from historic Salem and all of its activities and dining. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast options were nice and I loved that coffee was available throughout the day.

Your website stated restaurant on site, but itger than free breajfast dining, tgere was none. No food or drinks at night. Also, you advertise HD tv and it was NOT. Terrible viewing.

Immaculate property and very nice staff especially Jacqueline in housekeeping and the friendly woman in the Breakfast Room whose name I am sorry I have forgotten; but always had a happy greeting for me everyday at 6 am! The Breakfast Room was always spotless and well-stocked. She does a first-class job!

Fairly small room but had everything we needed. Breakfast wasn't great compared to other hotel stays in the area - not many vegetarian options or healthy cereal choices and whole milk only. Fairly quiet but we heard noise from joining rooms and outside. Ok location about a 5-10 minute walk from the main sights.

The property is within walking distance of everything in Salem. Only the lighthouse is a little far. Very clean. Rooms good enough. Need were not comfortable but we were so tired from walking all day we slept ok. Breakfast was included and had a good variety and plenty of seating. Parking was indoors and $27 a day. Spots seemed small so a truck could be tough to park. Front desk were super friendly. Didn't use pool. Gym was good for a nice morning workout. Highly recommend

Our stay was great. Excellent location! Close enough to walk to everything but far enough from essex to enjoy the quiet. Our room was clean, the hotel was clean, staff was friendly. A free breakfast was offered but we never ate at the hotel. The free coffee in the lobby was great! The Tipsy Cowboy restaurant is right beside the hotel on the corner and it was one of our favorite meals during our trip to Salem. Highly recommend the hotel and the restaurant!
