Only overnight, but really lovely stay. Rooms are across the courtyard from the pub. Was quiet when we were there as it was a Sunday, but there had been an event the day before. Lovely areas in the pub itself, we found some wing-backed arm chairs and played one of the Scrabble games they'd provided, while we had some food and drink. Breakfast in the same area the following morning was delicious. The room was comfortable and spacious, with a basket of treats. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would 100% stay again.

Stopped here for a single night (along with our dog) - overall it was excellent. Easy and prompt check-in and an excellent size modern room which was ideal as the weather was dreadful. Very comfortable stay and the food was of a high standard

Excellent place to stay, very friendly staff, rooms very comfortable, spacious & clean, with great facilities, lovely little complimentary items made the stay extra enjoyable. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. Very pet friendly & still very clean in all areas. Added bonus of car charging facilities very welcome. We will definitely stay again next time in the area. What a lovely place in the centre of Malpas village. The little beer garden is really gorgeous, the pub is great too. Just a few things could be better: The Wi-Fi information was on the guest info, but you had to be on-line to get the guest info! There was a coffee machine, but no kettle or fridge. Great if you like black coffee, but not great for anything else. The room wasn’t well lit so putting makeup on in the room wasn’t the best, and in the bathroom the mirror was narrow, quite far back due to the sink and shelf so putting makeup on in the bathroom was quite hard work too. We had some snacks in the beer garden which were really tasty, in the morning the breakfast was great too, the service could have been better and my poached eggs on the eggs benedict were overdone. All in all - I’m probably being really really picky, but this is why I couldn’t give 5 stars, just a few little changes and it would be a perfect place to stay rather than really good. Saying all that, we’ll be back!

One of the best taverns and hotels we’ve ever stayed at! Our room, the outdoor and indoor spaces were beautifully curated. The vibe, the food, the textures/details and the people were second to none. Parking was easy and the town so quaint. Highly recommend the Lion at Malpas.

I liked everything about 'The Lion'.The rooms were spacious, the pub had loads of seating room, the meals were good, there is parking for over 20 cars and the Mediterranean styled garden looks lovely. The courtyard area outside the rooms has been designed beautifully. The staff were very friendly and for what you get the prices were excellent.

This hotel was chosen partly because of the availability of EV charge points and previous reviews. Although the charge points were a bit of a pain to use this was no fault of the hotel and I did manage it OK in the end. Best to pre-register with Evchargeonline first if you intend to use them. The hotel itself was very nice with beautifully appointed rooms and excellent value for money.

This was the forth or fith time we have stayed. We met friends for dinner and they and their two kids were made very welcome. The food is great, the prices are ok, and the place is spotlesslt clean

Beautiful room, immaculate and lovely decor. Malpas is a small village with many old buildings, of which the Lion is one. Superb all round, couldn’t fault a thing.

We had a lovely time here for two nights. There were a couple of maintenance issues in the room that we let the staff know about. Breakfast was good, though the "local sausages" were quite disappointing.

It was a quick stopover one night stay down south, on a longer journey. Initially, I was gutted to see that they had what seemed like storage heaters and worried that was not going to be worm enough. I had nothing to fear, the room got cosy very quickly. It was also very well appointed, spotlessly clean and spacious for 3 with a dog, with everything you would need for and more. The bed was firmer than I usually like, but having said that, I slept like a baby and am rather fussy. The highlight of the stay was however the dinner at the pub which was out of this world and we are all very picky. My hubby and I joked that we should travel up north simply for the food (and we live in Dorset!). Everything was served exactly as asked, on time, cooked to perfection. Bliss! And at a really good price point (3 courses for all 3 of us, 2 bottles of wine came at £200) Congratulations to the chef again! Needless to say, I would highly recommend.

The pub with rooms was wonderful the place was immaculate and the staff and atmosphere excellent. The room was large well appointed with water and coffee/tea crisps etc. The bed was so comfy but could have been bigger. The room was also immaculate although it had a smell of fresh paint. I recently stayed at The Lion for two nights with my husband and toddler. We booked The Bakery Suite (Quadruple on Hotels.com) which had a seperate living area which was ideal for us. Check in was swift and we found all the staff throughout our stay to be friendly and accommodating. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and opted for the roast beef. I always find roast dinners disappointing if the are not home cooked but this was honestly the tastiest roast I have ever had at a restaurant. We did feel that breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. The cooked breakfast was a little on the small side and wasn't anything special, but not bad either. Overall I highly recommend The Lion and would hesitate to return.

We went for the cheapest option of rooms, but it was by no means cheap. Excellent value. Very spacious, lovely furnishings, great selection of premium coffees, teas and snacks. The bed was comfortable and lovely rainfall shower. Room was quiet. The restaurant and pub are cosy and trendy, and all of the staff welcoming. We recommend the breakfast, again premium quality meats and cooked to perfection. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.

Room was gorgeous, in a lovely cottage next door to the pub. Breakfast was lovely. Slept well and the bathroom was nice. Tea tray was fab. Only issue we had was the room was freezing, in December. We had to go over to he pub to ask them to turn the heating on as there was no thermostat in the room. When we went out for dinner and drinks and got back, the room was freezing again. So again back to the pub to ask for heat, we were told there was a thermostat on the landing of the cottage this time to control the room, but the thermostat was locked. Like I said, otherwise it was a great stay. Gorgeous. And we’d go again. But maybe in summer.

Really great welcome. Had already phoned us to find out if we wanted a twin or a king bed. Allowed us to check in early as we were at a wedding. Couldn’t have been more helpful!

A very enjoyable stay, enhanced by spacious accommodation, excellent food and local cask beers and very pleasant staff. A slight downside was the lack of a bell on the unmanned reception when we arrived to check in or have breakfast and the rather confusing breakfast table with a sign encouraging us to 'help ourselves' to juices and cereals whilst waiting for a cooked breakfast, but then being charged for them. No-one in attendance most of the time during breakfast - had to ask for spoons. Despite this the staff were very amiable and the breakfasts superb.

I recently stayed at The Lion for two nights with my husband and toddler. We booked The Bakery Suite (Quadruple on Hotels.com) which had a seperate living area which was ideal for us. Check in was swift and we found all the staff throughout our stay to be friendly and accommodating. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and opted for the roast beef. I always find roast dinners disappointing if the are not home cooked but this was honestly the tastiest roast I have ever had at a restaurant. We did feel that breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. The cooked breakfast was a little on the small side and wasn't anything special, but not bad either. Overall I highly recommend The Lion and would hesitate to return.

What a lovely place in the centre of Malpas village. The little beer garden is really gorgeous, the pub is great too. Just a few things could be better: The Wi-Fi information was on the guest info, but you had to be on-line to get the guest info! There was a coffee machine, but no kettle or fridge. Great if you like black coffee, but not great for anything else. The room wasn’t well lit so putting makeup on in the room wasn’t the best, and in the bathroom the mirror was narrow, quite far back due to the sink and shelf so putting makeup on in the bathroom was quite hard work too. We had some snacks in the beer garden which were really tasty, in the morning the breakfast was great too, the service could have been better and my poached eggs on the eggs benedict were overdone. All in all - I’m probably being really really picky, but this is why I couldn’t give 5 stars, just a few little changes and it would be a perfect place to stay rather than really good. Have stayed at the Lion before and it was just as good this time. The Hotel room we had was beautifully decorated, laid out and the appointed. The food (we had dinner and breakfast) was fabulous. Last but not least was the team....You could not asked for better service...thank you!!

We were part of a wedding party that all stayed at The Lion; the staff were so accommodating in terms of helping us get our room keys early so we could get to the wedding venue in time. A lot of us got changed/partly ready in the toilets of the pub which are spacious and clean. The rooms themselves were superb, very modern and a high standard. The next morning the options for the breakfast we included with our stay were incredible! You were able to choose a small breakfast (i.e toast and jam or a granola, yogurt fruit compot etc) as well as a hot breakfast, juice and a hot drink. Well worth paying that bit extra for it. Not likely to be in the area again but if I ever was I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Lovely areas in the pub itself, we found some wing-backed arm chairs and played one of the Scrabble games they'd provided, while we had some food and drink. One of the best taverns and hotels we’ve ever stayed at! Our room, the outdoor and indoor spaces were beautifully curated. The vibe, the food, the textures/details and the people were second to none. Parking was easy and the town so quaint. Highly recommend the Lion at Malpas.

The pub with rooms was wonderful the place was immaculate and the staff and atmosphere excellent. The room was large well appointed with water and coffee/tea crisps etc. The bed was so comfy but could have been bigger. The room was also immaculate although it had a smell of fresh paint. We booked a meal the first night the steak was missing some items and was tough but my wife's chickwn was excellent as was starters and pud. Lovely location lovely pub and staff highly recommend.

Like everyone who uses this app, my family and I prolifically stay at properties that are pleasant and we enjoy, but don’t always leave a review. In this case this property is more than deserving overview for so many reasons We are a family that resigns in the United States that are represented by Australians And Americans. Without sounding like an idiot, we have fairly high standards when it comes to accommodations, which are not always met in the United Kingdom, which is not a bad thing. It’s just properties sometimes absent or some of the nice niceties that we used to at home. Like a lot of families we’ve done a lot of trips around the United Kingdom also also big fans of welcome to Wrexham so satisfy my children and my wife who I think wanted to bump into Ryan Reynolds. We had to do a trip down towards Wales area to explore. I haven’t been there since a child and while this review is about the hotel. I will say that this is just a spectacularly beautiful part of the world. And this hotel is perfectly positioned to see all the sites which is made even easier by the fact that parking a car is so easy at the property. Wit respect of the property and room itself. They were two adults and twin 12-year-olds and the room area was bigand extremely comfortable, The breakfast it was included is superb and dinner in the restaurant is amazing but most of all I challenged you to find nicer and more Helpful staff if you don’t Stay at this establishment, you. We had a lovely time here for two nights. There were a couple of maintenance issues in the room that we let the staff know about. Breakfast was good, though the "local sausages" were quite disappointing.

Excellent place to stay, very friendly staff, rooms very comfortable, spacious & clean, with great facilities, lovely little complimentary items made the stay extra enjoyable. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. Very pet friendly & still very clean in all areas. Added bonus of car charging facilities very welcome. We will definitely stay again next time in the area. Thank you to all the staff for making are stay very pleasurable.

It was a quick stopover one night stay down south, on a longer journey. Initially, I was gutted to see that they had what seemed like storage heaters and worried that was not going to be worm enough. I had nothing to fear, the room got cosy very quickly. It was also very well appointed, spotlessly clean and spacious for 3 with a dog, with everything you would need for and more. The bed was firmer than I usually like, but having said that, I slept like a baby and am rather fussy. The highlight of the stay was however the dinner at the pub which was out of this world and we are all very picky. My hubby and I joked that we should travel up north simply for the food (and we live in Dorset!). Everything was served exactly as asked, on time, cooked to perfection. Bliss! And at a really good price point (3 courses for all 3 of us, 2 bottles of wine came at £200) Congratulations to the chef again! Needless to say, I would highly recommend.
