Duck Bay Hotel & Restaurant

Modern, low-rise hotel on the western bank of Loch Lomond. Easy parking, friendly welcome and helpful team throughout the stay. Nice cafe and restaurant with loch views. Modern, spacious, well-equipped room with own veranda beside the water. Will return if ever in the area again.

Property was nice although we werent aware after paying £200 to stay for one night that we had to leave an aditional £50 incase we made a mess or broke somthing, we werent aware of this and took offence. Concidering right outside at the public park it was over grown with litter,plastic bottles and left over DIY barbacue trays, end to end parking which meant we couldnt even park, wont be returning

The hotel was fantastic. View was amazing staff were friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and we had great walking paths all the way to the next town. I would say the only downside is there was no dedicated parking for hotel guests so when the park is busy you may not have parking for your car. The other downside is that the motor sports on the Loch are quite noisy and continue into the night hours.

Great location when travelling to the north of Scotland, excellent Restaurant, good hassle free parking.

We booked the executive suite overlooking the lock. The room size was great and we had easy access to a private patio. We ordered room service that arrived promptly. Food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. Lots of water activities nearby and a bus stop across from the hotel if travelling via public transport. Scenery is unreal. Would recommend and will absolutely be back.

Fabulous hotel. Recently renovated. Restaurant was superb. The views were fantastic. Not a complaint but a suggestion. It would be helpful to have a vending machine with bottled water. You have to go to the bar and purchase a bottle of mineral water at over £6 per bottle. Apart from that absolutely brilliant.

Our suite was beautiful and very comfortable. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. There is no proper bar area to sit and relax with a drink afterwards unless you go into Bobby’s cafe, which was really cold that we and other customers were sitting with our coats on, absolutely no atmosphere. Could do with some music in the background rather than a TV with the volume turned down. Really disappointed

Room was lovely great views a tad expensive though lovely hotel although miss being able to sit in bar and have a drink which is really only downside that this facility no longer exists and if you want a drink you have to sit in a kind of cafe area

Amazing venue situated on the shores of Loch Lomomd with a great restaurant to the side. This was a one night stop over travelling down from Isle of Skye to Edinburgh Tattoo, parking is free but had to park in the restaurant car park as only room for about 3/4 cars outside the main reception. Our room had its own screened off patio area overlooking the Loch. Used the restaurant for our evening meal as convenient and quicker after walking all afternoon. The portions are generous and moderately priced with attentive staff on hand to make your experience the best. We had breakfast included and is also varied and caters to all tastes.

What a hidden gem at the bottom of Loch Lomand. There is a park, an amazing restaurant, and the grounds and hotel are amazing with kind staff. We had a room with a slider out to a view of the loch. The room was clean and quiet. We loved it!

This hotel is in a beautiful setting and very clean. The food in the restaurant is really good. Restaurant staff are very nice and the young girl with dark long hair who works in the cafe is so accommodating (Sorry should have asked her name). The rest of the staff were a bit officious. Not that's the good bit over. Over all customer service left a lot to be desired. We were told when we arrived that breakfast was between 7-10 but as long as we get there before 10 that's fine. The room was small but spotless. Bed is hard. Lots of noise outside. Not a good sleep experience. Then went to outside bar for a bottle of white wine. Asked for a chilled bucket but they said they didn't have any and that I could asked inside at the bar but doubted they had any either. After a while we went inside and asked the lovely girl that I mentioned earlier and nothing was a bother. She promptly got a chilled bucket. Now to breakfast. We arrived at 9:45. So far so good. Ordered breakfast. Noticed things were getting cleared up at 10. So I asked ifI could get some tea after eating breakfast. Staff said as long as I did so at 10:15 latest. 10:10 went up to get tea and an older man was cleaning the coffee machine. I went to get hot water from the hot tap, he told me that I should have used the machine. I couldn't as he was cleaning it before 10:15. He said that breakfast is over at 10. I tried to explain that another member of staff said that I was ok till 10:15 but he just repeated himself the

If you’re after a stunning view, Duck Bay certainly delivers – the loch is breathtaking. Sadly, that’s where the charm ends. The rest feels like a duck decoy: glossy on the surface, but hollow underneath. Reception staff weren’t rude, but they might as well have been automated – check-in and check-out were delivered in flat monotone, and no one seemed to care that my stay was merely “okay.” The room was basic, with decor so synthetic it practically quacked of plastic. The smell of it lingered until I opened the patio doors – but that just invited in mosquitos. The bathroom was worse: black mould in the shower, a glass shelf that made every bottle placed on it slide off, and water pressure so weak it barely qualified as a shower. To top it off, music from the deserted outdoor area blared into the night. Reception had already shut by 9pm, so I had to call the restaurant to have it turned down. Duck Bay may look the part, but for the price of a supposedly three-star hotel, it’s all plastic feathers and no real duck. I won’t be paddling back.

Well maintained hotel in an amazing location literally on the edge of the loch. We stayed in a ground floor suite with a shared terrace overlooking the water. The room was very spacious and immaculate. There were a few niggles, the room was for 2 people, but although there was more than enough room, there was only one comfy armchair. The bedside lamp switches could only be reached by climbing out of bed! There was a small dressing area with a dressing table the mirror of which was set at such a high level that when sat at the table, the view was from the eyes up. Strangely this area had no lighting and at night was useless as a dressing area. On a positive note, every member of staff we encountered was charming and helpful.

Restaurant was excellent, breakfast was ok. Room was lovely but the noise levels from outside and corridor were terrible.

Room was nice but very small and only a small double bed. Location is lovely and we had a decked area to sit outside. Bathroom small but had everything in. Stayed on business and did not like having to provide £100 room deposit. Restaurant food was lovely for both evening meal and breakfast. Probably would not book again because of deposit and we did not sleep very well as used to a kingsize bed

I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels in the last few years and this one has the best view of them all. Absolutely fantastic location with a veranda right on the loch shore. Good restaurant and bar Missing a mini bar in the room though and lots of noise from room above

The hotel is in a great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are beautiful. The attached restaurant has good quality, beautifully presented food. The onsite breakfast is of high quality too. However, the room is very small and lacks natural light and is poorly ventilated. The room we had was pricey for what it was, but was probably based on the beautiful location.

The plus side was the rooms were well decorated and very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Nice clean bedding and fluffy white towels. Tea and coffee with kettle in the room. Good size tv and comfortable chair for sitting on. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. Down side was the bed really needs a mattress topper as the springs are horrid, not a comfortable sleep. Also the beds are only standard double size.

The hotel is average for an overnight stay! The bed was very uncomfortable and rooms very small. The rooms were also very hot with no air conditioning and a warning sign not to open the windows due to midges. The one positive was the breakfast.

Beautiful view of the loch from the room. The rooms, hotel & restaurant were all decorated well & in good condition. The staff were always helpful, cheerful & efficient. We enjoyed our stay. There were a few negatives though. The soundproofing between the rooms was terrible. We were unfortunate to have someone pacing their room above ours most of the night. We also were woken by the snoring of a guest in another room. This would put us off booking again despite all the positives. The room was a bit chilly we asked for a blanket but they don’t have any so we were given a second duvet. The 3pm checkin is strict - usually if you arrive early & your room is ready you’re checked in. Here it is a definite 3pm onwards. After a long journey it would be nice to be given the room if available. The reception stops at 8pm and the doors are locked. When I stay in a hotel I do expect there to be a receptionist. A hotel can feel anonymous with no staff around & potentially unsafe for vulnerable guests. We also had difficulty getting back in as our key wasn’t working. Luckily the restaurant staff were kind enough to let us back in to the hotel.

We had a fabulous stay at Duck Bay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, delivered excellent service at all times. We loved our room. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable with fantastic views down the length of Loch Lomond towards Ben Lomond. The food was tremendous and good value. A fantastic experience all round.

Really poor customer service. On checking in after 10pm on a Friday night, was told by a night porter they had no record of my booking so would need to charge me again. Told them this is very strange as it is not my problem if they don’t allow there staff to access the booking system. Was assured that the charge would be returned to my card first thing in the morning. Begrudgingly agreed on that condition. On checking out in the morning was told that they couldn’t issue the refund until later that day. Asked for a receipt and was told they would need to speak to a manager to do that. Promised a phone call later that day to confirm the refund. That phone call never was received and a week later while checking expenses saw that the charge had not been refunded. On calling I was told they had called and left a message. I never received that call. Refunded over the phone with no apology. Staff should have a level of autonomy to do there job. If everything has to be approved things like this happen. Also it’s advertised as a hotel. Checking in after 10pm is not late and shouldn’t be treated as such. Really poor experience.

We are currently staying at duck bay and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Our first issue was we had travelled 4 hours to stay here, when we got in to our room we rang reception and asked for a table at the restaurant. They booked us in for 5 so we had 20 mins to get ready. Rushing about to be told there’s no room for us in there. The gentleman said we could order off the menu for room service. The dishes were then left outside our room and not removed until we took them down stairs ourselves the next day. Our next issue was we had left our key in our room I told her our room number which she told me we weren’t in that room but the one next door. Whilst down there I spoke to the receptionist to make her aware of the noise levels from the people in the room next door (the walls are paper thin) and that we hadn’t got any sleep at all as we had been kept awake by them until. I asked if they were staying the second night to be told they were (they weren’t she was talking about us which I now realise due to the key issue) she then done my key for another room even after me telling her I was in the room I was in. I came upstairs tried the key for it to not work to have to go back down for her to redo it to the number I said. The second night the hotel was a lot quieter so I had hopes of sleeping, the hotel had deliveries from 6 which woke up the hotel up. The break fast in the morning was cold and wasn’t the nicest. I wouldn’t stay here again although decorated lovely the hotel is not

They ban you from the property if your raise a complaint for housekeeping coming in your room when your asleep. Refund you and ban you. Great business practices!

Where to start? What's not to like here. A stunning loch-side location; beautiful and well-appointed room overlooking the loch, Nespresso facilities, great shower-room. The breakfasts were excellent. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and could not fault a thing. The choice, presentation and taste of the food were all superb. We had a minor issue in our room but the staff were onto it and it was fixed in no time. I couldn't recommend this place more.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful but the restaurant staff weren’t very attentive - our table was late and we weren’t asked if we wanted anymore drinks or condiments with our meal. Our room had a dirty teacup in it when we arrived and the pillows on the bed were very hard. We thought the hotel was overpriced.

Great location on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. The executive room is excellent and provides a fantastic view and a private outside seating area. The restaurant is excellent and the staff, throughout the hotel are fantastic.

Beautiful location. 1 mile and a half walk via Loch edge from Balloch. Shop centre and sealife.. Duck bay beautiful..... Been a few times... Will return

The amount of rubbish left from BBQ’s and families eating was terrible. Felt a little unsafe with groups of males hanging around in groups.

I thought the cost for drinks were a little on the steep side. Lager choice.. £5.50 Amstel or £6.50 Moretti 🤔 but wine 😳 Sauv £28.00 SA or £40 NZ or £12.00 or £14.00 for 250ml glass!! Staff were superb no faults there. Meals were lovely but "add on\'s" being offered.... £3.00 for two slice of bread!! Stayed here 3 times before but felt as if it may be our last time. 😔

Lovely water view and great breakfast!

Hotel was gorgeous, we stayed in the Robert Burns suite for one night as part of a nine day tour of Scotland. The suite was extremely spacious with fantastic views over Loch Lomond. The balcony area is, however, not off the room and you have to leave the suite to enter a communal balcony area. Good service in the bar area which was very comfortable, the restaurant area is very pleasant too, both with fabulous views. The food on the evening was amazing served by very friendly attentive staff. Downside breakfast disappointing, we both said the worst of our nine day trip. I paid a surcharge of £5 for Eggs Royale, the muffin came out burnt, so much so I could not eat it.

Lovely modern hotel with fabulous views over Loch Lomond. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant on Sunday evening and was offered the option of Sunday Roast Dinner. Would have loved a vegetarian roast option.
