Had a fab time staff are all lovely. Room was clean with a comfy bed loads of tea and coffee in rooms and nice biscuits.Fire alarm went off a few times after coming out the shower but staff were at door within seconds to make sure we were ok must be very sensative alarm. The breakfast was amazing with great choice hot and fresh plenty selection hot or continental. Dinner was amazing and liked you could get half portions of some of the main meals. The bar staff were lovely and friendly. The pool area with hot tub sauna and steam room was fab and again all staff were friendly and helpful even got to join the aqua gym class which was great and all free when staying at hotel as guest. Me and my husband will defo be back to stay in the near future.

There were no elevators which wouldn’t have been a problem, except we had to go through lots of hallways and down several flights of stairs with our luggage. One of our rooms had lots of spiders in it. Breakfast was served a little late so we weren’t able to eat anything before we needed to get back on the road; there wasn’t even any fruit or coffee/tea set out so people could grab stuff on the go.

The overall stay was good the staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was nice however ever so slightly dated and the room was boiling and no way we could find to turn it down. The breakfast was a standard buffet breakfast and was decent quality. The pool area seemed clean and well maintained but the steam room was out of service. My only criticism of the pool area and the hotel as a whole is the changing area for the pool as there are no individual changing areas in the mens changing room and there were two young girls in there which i felt to be quite inappropriate as i had to leave and wait for them to finish up before changing. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will likely be back.

Have stayed here a few times before. We came for our anniversary but unfortunately wasn’t impressed this time. Our room was nice enough and comfy bed. There was 2 coffee cups with coffee & tea but no teaspoons to stir it. There also was no hand soap, shower gel etc or anything at all to wash your hands with in the bathroom which I found pretty poor. The spa is ok, pool is nice but it’s very tired looking and needs a good upgrade tbh. Steamroom was like sitting in a cupboard.

Staff and check in were good. The room was adequate and clean, although it is a bit worn and could do with modernization. The mattress and bedding were good. The nearest electrical outlet was across the room from the bed – you will not be able to sleep with your phone on the bedside table if you want it charged by the morning. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were good. Breakfast was British breakfast buffet with everything of a decent standard. The parking was easy, but the lot was very full. The hotel is in a pretty little village a few minutes drive from Loch Lomond. Note: The path from reception to the room involved multiple halls, doors, small steps down and back up – this would be difficult for a person with disabilities – if you have difficulty getting around, be sure to request a room that is easy to access.

Looked like room hadn’t been used for a while as dead spider in bath. Also there were only 2 coffee sachets there which turned out to be decaf so had not been topped up since previous guests had stayed. Bedding and towels were clean and fine but carpet was filthy, so bad that I had to wear shoes as I’d forgotten to take slippers. Stayed 2 nights and when we came back into the room after being out during the day housekeeping had topped up coffee, hot chocolate sachets etc and had just pulled the duvet up towards pillows but not sorted it properly nor was the room hoovered. Very disappointing.

Our rooms were not ready when we arrived so we had a beer in the bar. We were tired from hiking and there was no where to stretch out and relax. Room was pretty clean, but it looked like the carpet wasn't vacuumed too well, but was okay.

Had two night stay and slept really well, so no complaints about the beds. Staff friendly. Decor generally very poor (carpets and walls in particular need attention) and no need for radiators to be on during the summer - some of the corridors were uncomfortably hot. Carpets smelly.

Evening meals in restaurant were tasty and a good selection of options. Bonus for me was that they did small portions of many of the meals. Service for Evening meals and breakfast was excellent with staff friendly. Bedrooms were large and clean but very warm! It made it difficult to sleep because of it despite keeping bedroom window wide open all the time. Main area and pool were well kept . Stairs and corridors carpets were tired and stained looking but overall was very pleasantly surprised and would happily stay there again :)

Have stayed in the hotel on 2 separate occasions, once with husband in March and this weekend with husband and daughter. The room in our first stay was fine, a standard double room. The only issue was the mold in the bathroom was quite off putting. The hotel staff did acknowledge that the hotel was scheduled for redecorating. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night, the food was nice but the service was very slow. The swimming pool was of a good temperature as was the jacuzzi. On our recent stay we stayed in a family room. The room was fine but we have stayed in far nicer, more spacious family rooms. The bed my daughter slept on was an old metal framed, single pop up bed. The bathroom seemed to be mold free but was quite small. The toilet seat was a different shape to the actual toilet which made things quite uncomfortable. We ate in the restaurant one night and again although did was fine, the service is very slow. We ate on the 2nd night in a different local restaurant where the food was lovely and service great. Do to the hotel having a swimming pool we would perhaps stay here again but would eat meals elsewhere.

The hotel buildings and furnishings are very tired. Window catches on bathroom and bedroom windows had fallen off. Bedroom lock only worked intermittently. The bathroom was last updated many years ago and the radiator was rusty and had black growth behind both it and the bath. There was no Wi-Fi to the room. There was no way you could have the side light on and charge your phone at the same time. Central heating was on on July - I was told by hotel staff that if it wasn't on there would be no hot water. Food was good, service not so good.

The property is old and rather run down, and we had substantial mould in one of the bathrooms. Paint is peeling in many places and left flaking on the carpets in corridors and rooms. It's a great property that needs to be looked after better.

Bed comfort was good ,we jad no internet access in 1st room upon complaint we were upgrade to another room,food options erre good although service in the restaurant was pretty poor ,heating was ridiculous wae too warm every heater in building was on 24/7 considering it was the end of july (height of summer ) it wasnt pleasant at all

This hotel was a convenient stop along the West Highland Way hiking trail. The staff was friendly, but not all that helpful. The check in staff should have told us upon checking in that there was going to be live music until 11:00 just below our room. We were jet lagged and wanted to sleep early, and the music went for 3 hours. The toilet and sink were not working properly, even with someone coming to service them. The carpet in the room was not clean, most likely mud from someone’s hiking boots. The manager, upon our request, did take care of our breakfast for our trouble, which was nice.

Good hotel though could do with some updating, showers not great as there was no water pressure. Some staff were great, mainly serving staff and bar staff, some couldn’t be bothered, they were very helpful with dinner for our group of 9 making sure we got sorted. Would go back if we where in that area again

We stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting family in the area. We felt that the hotel was comfortable, but in need of significant modernising. Our room was feeling very tired , with dated and scuffed furnishings . The walls were also very thin leading to disturbed sleep thanks to some amerous neighbours! The leisure facilities are a real bonus, with a good pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The staff both in the hotel and at the pool were profesional and friendly throughout our stay

Stayed here for an overnight stop whilt travelling from the South East to Inverness. Hotel was very comfortable. Very large room - spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed for an overnight stop. Our first room had an issue with the toilet flush. Reported to reception and we were moved straight away to the room next door.

Room (52) was in poor condition. Shower was sporadic and unusable. This was due to leisure facilities according to staff. Room was fairly clean but in dire need of basic refurbishment. Bed was comfortable enough. Tv was not working originally and no coffee available which I had to go to reception to remedy both issues Food at restaurant was decent and I’d say decent value. Staff were friendly however durning dinner period all the waitress were just stood around chatting amongst themselves and we had to go up and prompt them to offer us a drink. Then after that we had to go up and prompt them again to take our food order.. breakfast was a decent standard with no complaints. Swimming pool and gym facilities were decent and a good effort was made with the hallowe’en decorations. Location is good. Staff and check in were good. The room was adequate and clean, although it is a bit worn and could do with modernization. The mattress and bedding were good. The nearest electrical outlet was across the room from the bed – you will not be able to sleep with your phone on the bedside table if you want it charged by the morning. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were good. Breakfast was British breakfast buffet with everything of a decent standard. The parking was easy, but the lot was very full. The hotel is in a pretty little village a few minutes drive from Loch Lomond. Note: The path from reception to the room involved multiple halls, doors, small steps down and back up – this would be difficult for a person with disabilities – if you have difficulty getting around, be sure to request a room that is easy to access.

Had a fab time staff are all lovely. Room was clean with a comfy bed loads of tea and coffee in rooms and nice biscuits.Fire alarm went off a few times after coming out the shower but staff were at door within seconds to make sure we were ok must be very sensative alarm. The breakfast was amazing with great choice hot and fresh plenty selection hot or continental. Dinner was amazing and liked you could get half portions of some of the main meals. The bar staff were lovely and friendly. The pool area with hot tub sauna and steam room was fab and again all staff were friendly and helpful even got to join the aqua gym class which was great and all free when staying at hotel as guest. Me and my husband will defo be back to stay in the near future.

Hotel in transitional period having been taken over. Outside needs a bit of freshening up but our bedroom (grandparents and child) was clean and beds very comfortable. Like many old Scottish hotels rooms are on varying corridor levels and not suitable for disabled although they may be able to accommodate somewhere. Breakfast was extra although some sites say pay £10, but I was advised by hotel that price was for room only, meals in addition. Breakfast was adequate , evening meal fine and staff very pleasant. Couple of minor problems were fixed very quickly with apologies . Enjoyed our stay.

Room (52) was in poor condition. Shower was sporadic and unusable. This was due to leisure facilities according to staff. Room was fairly clean but in dire need of basic refurbishment. Bed was comfortable enough. Tv was not working originally and no coffee available which I had to go to reception to remedy both issues Food at restaurant was decent and I’d say decent value. Staff were friendly however durning dinner period all the waitress were just stood around chatting amongst themselves and we had to go up and prompt them to offer us a drink. Then after that we had to go up and prompt them again to take our food order.. breakfast was a decent standard with no complaints. Swimming pool and gym facilities were decent and a good effort was made with the hallowe’en decorations. Location is good. Unfortunately I would not wish to stay here again due to the basic needs of a hotel room not being met.

This was my 4th time here and this time I took my girlfriends parents and we went as a party of 4 with 2 rooms. The menu for dinner is so bad its a shame the used to do the best fish and chips. Any time I had a pint it tasted really funny so I had to drink out of a bottle. I was also assured I could stay in the lobby drinking to whatever time we wished only for the bar to be locked at 11:30 with no last call. We loved the pool and the steam room and about half of the staff were nice. Manager tried his best but his reception staff, a few waiters and the night porter let him down big time. The staff down at the leisure centre were lovely but a big mention to Leo the waiter/barman. Saved the stay for this place and if it wasn't for him we probably would never go back. Crazy as he has only been there a few months!

Have stayed in the hotel on 2 separate occasions, once with husband in March and this weekend with husband and daughter. The room in our first stay was fine, a standard double room. The only issue was the mold in the bathroom was quite off putting. The hotel staff did acknowledge that the hotel was scheduled for redecorating. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night, the food was nice but the service was very slow. The swimming pool was of a good temperature as was the jacuzzi. On our recent stay we stayed in a family room. The room was fine but we have stayed in far nicer, more spacious family rooms. The bed my daughter slept on was an old metal framed, single pop up bed. The bathroom seemed to be mold free but was quite small. The toilet seat was a different shape to the actual toilet which made things quite uncomfortable. We ate in the restaurant one night and again although did was fine, the service is very slow. We ate on the 2nd night in a different local restaurant where the food was lovely and service great. Do to the hotel having a swimming pool we would perhaps stay here again but would eat meals elsewhere.

My husband and I have stayed at Buchanan arms a number of times as a couple, we booked a return stay with our baby and the entire stay was a massive let down . Check in was fine and the girl was lovely and welcoming, our room was clean and spacious and nice and warm. Unfortunately that’s where the positives ended. Our room was right after the lounge area, so we not only heard every single time anyone used the public toilet/hand dryers, but the live singer who was on until after 11pm in the lounge was so loud it made it impossible for us to get our baby to settle for bed. I specifically phoned ahead of our visit to say we were bringing her with us so I thought this would have been taken into consideration when dealing with room allocations and expected a quieter more peaceful area of the hotel. Our awful nights sleep was further interrupted when the fire alarm went off twice at 7am in the morning waking our already grumpy and overtired baby. Not exactly the relaxing stay we had hoped for!! We hadn’t made a reservation for dinner but went down on the off chance that there would be space for us. The attitude from the man in the restaurant was disgusting. He was very dismissive and basically told us to go away when we said that we hadn’t made a reservation. I understand we should have booked a table in advance but his attitude and the way he spoke to us was horrible and extremely uncalled for.

Staff missing for 5 minutes at check in. Booked twin room, given a double, beds split on request but sheets too small for bed so didn’t reach under pillows, but comfortable mattresses. Waited an hour and a quarter from ordering for dinner to be served, although waitress mistakenly tried to serve cheese and biscuits before dinner. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The dinner was delicious but was really disappointed with the breakfast. Everything brought through to the restaurant and put in pots without hot plates to keep food warm, and food didn't stay warm. Two toasters which took 10/15 mins and toast still not properly toasted. The hotel itself was lovely. The bar was very reasonable.

non accommodating in finding a table for two for dinner at 1800. and was told to come back at 2000. At the time of the enquiry the dining room was completely empty.. No attempt apologise or come up with an option and 2000 for a meal was too late for us

Hotel website Description and pictures does not match up with the experience. We booked a Superior room and ended up in a shabby quiet dirty room with cracked wallpaper stained walls and furnitures clearly visible dust on panels and bedside tables. No interior decoration besides an outdated bed panel Poorly painted walls and ceiling mould in the bathroom dirty carpet and so on. Only good thing about the room was the bed. It looked quite new and was comfortable to sleep in.

No lift. Staff were excellent. Restaurant/Pub are great. This is an older hotel, but that is part of the experience. We had a large room. Everything worked (hot water, outlets, etc.) Plenty of parking. We didn't use the spa/pool, but it looked nice.

Clean comfortable rooms and bed. Large bathroom with nice shower. Plenty of space for luggage which was very nice. Property within a 2 minute walk of good restaurants. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We had a lovely stay overall. The location is perfect, with plenty of parking available, making it very convenient. Our room was spacious, the mattress was extremely comfortable, and the shower had fantastic water pressure. The leisure facilities were excellent too. The swimming pool and gym are included with your stay and were both well maintained and a great bonus. The only downside to the room was that it was unbearably hot. The heating kept coming on even though it was switched off, which made the room very uncomfortable and made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The dinner was outstanding, with excellent quality food, although the prices are definitely on the expensive side. Breakfast, however, didn't feel worth the price. Unfortunately, as it's the only nearby option, there isn't much choice if you want breakfast without travelling elsewhere. Overall, despite a few negatives, we had a great stay and would happily return.
