Having had quite a difficult journey, the staff at Loch Shiel hotel were utterly superb and went above and beyond for us. Not only were they kind, friendly and so patient but the amenities and room were fantastic. You have not experienced Scottish hospitality until you’ve been to this hotel! Food was delightful and only beaten by their wonderful service. There was a great lively pub down the stairs and the rooms were cosy, clean and so comfy! Couldn’t recommend the Loch Shiel Hotel enough!

The only things the Loch Shiel had going for it was that it was clean and on the way to where we were going. The view out the back of the hotel was a very nice bonus. The staff aside from the bartender was grouchy, cold and unfriendly. Absolutely zero Highland hospitality. The menu you see online IS NOT the menu available at the restaurant. The actual menu is very limited and the food was not very good. We were the first group seated at dinner at 7 and the last group served at 8:30 pm. There were 5 other groups who came in after us and were served and finished their meals before we were even served. We cannot recommend Loch Shiel hotel. If you need a hotel in the area our friends had a much better experience in the town of Strantion.
