Loch Shiel Hotel

Check in was great, felt very welcome. It’s an old house, quirky. On way up to room could definitely feel the odd sunken floorboard Brushed against the wooden radiator cover on the landing and it promptly came away from the wall with us scrabbling to catch it. The room wasn’t huge, but had 2 chairs so that was a bonus. The floor slopes from the door to the window, quit a bit. Enough for a 4x4 wooden plank to be put under one side of the bed to make it level. The bed, although only a double, was actually wry comfortable. The shower room was pretty small, that’s ok but the actual shower was tiny. My hubby could hardly get in the doors, once he was in, he filled the space, could hardly turn round and had no chance of retrieving the soap when he dropped it LOL The bar area was good and a great view of the garden. Breakfast. Well, the tea and toast was good. I don’t recommend getting the scrambled egg and salmon, think the whole lot was microwaved together, it was still in the shape of the bowl when on th plate. My hubby had full breakfast, the bacon tasted microwaved too and the rest tasted bland. All in all its needs updating and someone who can cook breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful but we definitely don’t think it was value for money, we’ve stayed in far better places for a lot less.

In many ways more like B&B rather than hotel. Public bar downstairs. Breakfast very nice and owner friendly and helpful. Set in a small village with very nice surrounding countryside. My only criticism would be that it was quite expensive for a B&B.

Dog friendly hotel - good value, friendly staff, great breakfast and a quiet location.

I had a lovely stay in this hotel with my dog. Delicious meals were served as well. Definitely going to come back for another stay!

Deer were in back of property. Maggie and the owner were both very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and heat took a while to warm up though we slept warm. Hot chocolate was really good. Also, both the Scottish breakfast and the pancake breakfast were good.

A tight breakfast timing ! A little stressful . Lovely dinner staff though - forgiving when we were a bit late arriving after a long drive Deer in the garden !

I a lovely hotel in the emote banks of Lcoh Shiel. Lovel food and the best night's sleep I've had for ages - it's so quiet. The hotel is very dog friendly with lots of local walks. Good food in the restaurant.

Suite à un imprévu sur la route (route fermée pendant plus d’une heure), nous avons prévenu l’hôtel de notre arrivée tardive. Le personnel a été très compréhensif et nous a réservé un accueil très chaleureux. Chambre très propre et petit déjeuner copieux.

This was the best place we stayed at on our tour of the Scottish Highlands. It’s family-run, comfortable and clean. And the food was amazing! It is out of the way from the most common attractions, but it is worth the trip, because it is a wonderful little place located in a quiet part of the highlands.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room was comfortable and had everything we need for a comfortable stay. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but it was lovely. It was a very pleasant stay.

Enjoyed the feel of the place. Service was very quick and staff friendly. Food excellent. Room was very adequate and had an abundance of tea and coffee sachets especially the milk portions. Unfortunately there was no teaspoons. This is the only let down but it was no hardship.... we improvised. Would stay again.

Out in the middle of nowhere within easy walking distance of Loch Shiel. Only dining option is the hotel itself, but the cuisine was tasty. They packed a breakfast for me when I had to leave very early in the morning by bus. Check-in was rather late, so had to wait around for awhile to get my belongings in out of the rain!

The property was great and Meg was amazing and very helpful, she even packed us lunches since we were leaving before breakfast!

Only negative I had was the late check-in time, but other than that I had a great experience, and really enjoyed the wonderful staff.

Älteres Hotel. Eingang nicht leicht zu finden. Check-in erst ab 16 Uhr möglich. Einfache Unterkunft, aber ok. Sehr gutes Essen. Beste Cullen Skink, die ich je hatte.
