Hotel Genevieve, part of JdV by Hyatt

The valet parking is NOT SECURE. Seven cars were vandalized overnight in the hotel's valet parking area. The passenger side window was smashed on my car, as were the other cars. The hotel/valet staff was very slow to alert me (I didn't find out until I went to check out) and they offered no assistance whatsoever. Their only suggestion was to file a police report. And their only compensation for this serious problem (I had a 10 hour drive to make that day) was to deduct the one night's valet parking fee! I will never stay there again, nor recommend it.

Overall nice spaces to look at, but not really designed with user (hotel guest) in mind. For example, no shear curtains, so option was only to have heavy window coverings wide open (leaving zero privacy or a totally dark room. This combined with entirely low lighting, was pretty challenging. Feels like the hotel is in the middle of a transition (bought by bigger chain) because the amenities all had reduced hours.

The hotel is adorable, however all of the restaurants were closed and they had no options for food. The 20 dollar credit was wasted as to nothing being opened. I understand the weather played a big roll in this but I feel they should have let me know this while checking in as I would have gone somewhere else

Although the property offers valet parking, it is pricey. The self-parking options nearby were not much cheaper. The entrance was tucked around the side of the hotel, and the reception desk was tucked away even further. The room was comfortable enough. We were disappointed to see so much promotion regarding the rooftop bar, but when we tried to visit, most of the space was closed for a private event. Only a very small corner was available to guests, and there were no seats available. We ended up leaving without ever getting a drink.

Liked the decor and the rooftop was very cool. Could use. A gym and did not feel it was worth the price. Lighting in bathrooms is absolutely terrible…many of our guests were without hot water. Room never got cleaned in 3 day stay.

Nice boutique hotel with a good restaurant/ bar on the top floor

Nice, quirky, great staff. They don't offer enough services, though. Its6the first hotel I've every been to that didn't have a gym.

Amazing location. Very cute and staff were very friendly. So cool that they have a rooftop bar and speakeasy!

It’s a cool modern vibe! It’s within walking distance from a lot. And the restaurants are wonderful. Overall, I’m glad we stayed. My only complaints are the valet parking is slow, the rooms don’t have good lighting (which I’m surprised impacts me), they don’t have a gym at the hotel, and they don’t have a coffee machine in the room (BUT the market on the first floor give you free coffee).

This is a beautiful property with lovely decor, reminiscent of the 1930's and 40's, with some contemporary elements thrown in. I was shocked to learn that it was a new build, as the building appears to have been there a long time. There is a rooftop bar, a restaurant and a minimart/cafe in the hotel. The only drawback was the valet parking overnight in a secure lot came with a $60 price tag. The hotel is on a major street in Louisville where parking is limited, so be sure to keep that in mind. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Hotel Genevieve and I will be staying there again!

Every member of the staff we worked with was exceptionally friendly - from check-in to the restaurant to the valet. Very clean room in a seemingly up-and-coming part of the city - walking distance to a number of restaurants, etc. We loved being able to bring the dog. On the downside, as others have mentioned the room itself is extremely dark. I thought it was a silly thing for so many people to mention in the reviews but we had every lamp in the room turned on and we had to literally use our phone's flashlights to find a few things. The lamps/lampshades are stylish in fitting with the theme (no overhead lighting) but a bit ridiculous that it doesn't even provide enough light for you to find something in your suitcase. Also as a few have mentioned, the beds are extremely soft - you will just sink right in. Some people may like that but neither of us slept particularly well

Our room wasn’t the cleanest. There were stains on the industrial style carpet. The shower tile and grout was dirty we wore flip flops to shower. There were no blow dryer or iron and ironing board in room. We called front desk to get one brought up. The ice was in a bag in the hallway where you scooped it out. Wasn’t very hygienic we would never have used it. The beds were comfortable but the noise from the alley at night was loud from the patrons coming out of the bar or getting Valet. The blackout shades were awesome. Probably the best thing in the room. The WiFi at this hotel was also non existent. Our expectations were very high for this hotel. We wouldn’t recommend there is a ton of choices in downtown around this hotel that are much more valuable for your dollar spent.

Those hotel is quaint. Our room was a little dirty crumbs on the floor dust on lamps. Staff was a little too relaxed, but I would recommend this place to family and friends. I would encourage management to talk with its employees about being a little more professional and focusing on details of cleanliness

Hotel is clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The entire hotel has a unique vibe that is just so cool. The food at the restaurant/roof top bar was amazing. Within walking distance to many restaurants and bars as well.

Great hotel. Staff was absolutely amazing. It was an unexpected trip and we had to take our dogs. They treated us and our fur babies with great respect and friendliness. Absolutely will stay again. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Perfect location. Safe neighborhood. Amazing boutique hotel. Michelin Key distinguished property. Street parking nearby if you don't wish to valet. During my stay was the last weekend for onsite The Lucky Penny speakeasy bar. It permanently closed the Sunday I checked out. Sad. Cool bar. I was informed that it will be renovated as another concept. Nice little market in the hotel for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, basic snacks, drinks. You receive a $20 market credit to use with each night's stay. Nice restaurant on property, also. Clean hotel. Comfortable bed. Close to many wonderful restaurants, cocktail bars and a couple of boutique distilleries. Short walks to restaurants like The Last Refuge, LuLu on Market, La Bodeguita De Mima is right across the street. Bob Dylan's Heaven's Gate Distillery is two blocks away, Whiskey Thief Distillery...this is a great place to stay if wanting to explore the treasures in NuLu.

The vibe is fantastic and the entire staff were lovely. Incredibly clean room.

I received an email at 11:30 AM stating my room was ready and I could check in. I called to confirm, and the staff member I spoke with said early check-in was fine—no mention of a fee. We rearranged our plans and headed to the hotel, only to be told at the front desk that early check-in would cost $50. This fee was never mentioned in the email or during the call. When I asked for it to be waived, the front desk refused, so we left and returned later. The lack of communication and indifference from staff was disappointing. Parking was another issue. The website listed valet at $40/night, but we were told it was $53 plus tip. I had to spend 15 minutes circling the area before finding street parking a few blocks away. On top of that, the street in front of the hotel was under construction. Once in our room, there was a constant scraping noise from above—like furniture being dragged—which continued late into the night. At 9:30 PM, when we tried to sleep, the street noise was unbearable: car alarms, shouting, and the same dragging sound overhead. I barely slept. As part of my booking, I should have received VIP perks such as an upgrade and/or food and beverage credit. They had no clue what I was referring to and made me feel uncomfortable for asking about it, and said they have free coffee in the morning, but that was all. Overall, poor communication, noisy environment, and misleading information made this a frustrating stay. I would not recommend or return to this hotel.

Redo your lighting. The rooms are basically dark; you can't read a book. The Retro look doesn't compensate for the blackout.

Very chic room and upscale feel in perfect location for nightlife and good restaurants. Our room was right next to some sort of club so we could hear loud music until 2am every night on the weekends. When I travel I sleep with a sound machine so it didn’t bother me but it would have had I wanted to sleep in silence.

I have stayed here multiple occasions, and it is a neat swanky spot. Decor and rooms are pretty nice. The TVs are behind the times though without a reliable way to cast from your phone. Love the showers and the facilities on the property though.

Perfect location whether you are looking for good food, bourbon, baseball or brewery, they are all within a couple of blocks. The Hotel Genevieve was beautiful and had a 1960s old school feel, of course that did make for low lighting in the rooms, but the vibe made up for it along with the extremely comfortable beds.

Loved our stay at Hotel Genevieve — cool boutique hotel with an artsy vibe, comfortable accommodations, an excellent rooftop bar with great cocktails and a view of the city, and super friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. My one complaint was that the lighting in the rooms was so dark— dim lamps (including in the bathroom!) So it made it difficult after the sun went down if you were spending any time in your hotel room. But, the hotel is in a great location, near many bars, restaurants, shops, and other attractions, and it is a short short, Uber ride away from other vibrant neighborhoods, so the location is excellent. I would recommend.

Great location in Nulu with lots to walk to. Rooms were small but sufficient. The two major things that will keep us from coming back unless addressed are the extremely dim lighting in the rooms and bathrooms. Really difficult to see, shave, put on makeup, etc. and it also makes me not so sure about cleanliness. I also found the rooms to be loud - we could hear the people next door and all the street noise. There’s no room fan to drown it out. I downloaded a white noise app and by the second night I finally slept a little.

Stopped here for a night while we were on a roadtrip. Front desk staff seemed a little frazzled because there was an event happening the next day but the design of the hotel and the rooms were amazing.

No water in the rooms, uncomfortable bed, sticky floor, outdated, valet didn't open until 7 am. Unhelpful front desk staff

The overall experience past the front desk clerk was great. The bar staff especially Devon were great! Our room was beautiful and so many of the details that went into the property definitely make us want to go back. Just have to get over how bothered the front desk clerk seemed to be by having to do her job. We are not high maintenance, we like to chat a bit to find local things to do when we travel but she was not having any of it. Took forever to get us our key, seemed like we were a bothering to ask directions for a good steakhouse. Fortunately the bar staff was amazing, unwound with a few house cocktails that were fantastic. Devon gave great recommendations. Maybe we’ll opt for online check in next time and skip the front desk

Loved the design and vibe, lots of attention to detail. Service was terrific at the front desk and in the restaurants. Great mini market for coffee and snacks. Other great restaurants and shops nearby.

All around fun and neat place however I was double charged and double charged for incidentals and was not refunded immediately and still am awaiting $300 in charges

Everything was perfect. The staff was excellent from beginning to end. From the friendly efficient valet to the pleasant accommodating check in. The upper deck bartenders personal local recommendations to his fantastic cocktail concoctions. Managers were understanding when we moved rooms on a surprise upgrade for my husband. Local liquor store right next door was convenient and a place to get cash back when we needed. The restaurant chef was absolute spot on when we offered a decadent pork chop dinner. Best meal we’ve had a month of traveling. We savored every single bite. There wasn’t an ort left. We came to stay one day and stayed for three days!! We will definitely be back on a regular basis. Staff was fantastic. Management was very accommodating with us changing rooms and it made a world of difference for our experience. They have our future business and our most sincere recommendations. Thank you for a great experience!

I was disappointed at check in to be told I could not use my Discover card at check in, the young lady at the desk said “yeah that one never seems to work” and did not take the card from my hand and asked for a visa or mc. However later as we enjoyed Bar Genevieve my Discover card was accepted. Our double queen room was lovely. As a “glam” type female I would have enjoyed having a large mirror in the actual room for natural light while doing makeup and hair. If you’re the all natural type the dimly light bathroom and hallway mirror is fine but not for applying a full face of makeup! Overall we truly enjoyed our quick visit.

The hotel rooms are very nice. The rooftop bar is great. The front desk staff and mini mart staff were cold uncaring never smiled and treated you like they were doing you a favour.

Wonderful trendy Hotel in the NULU section of Louisville KY. Close to a number of very popular bourbon tasting rooms. Also Wonderful restaurants nearby and on the top floor of the hotel. Would DEFINITELY stay there again!!!

Wonderful hotel in NuLu. Walkable to almost everything downtown and NuLu have to offer. Tons of restaurant options nearby.

It felt like a boutique hotel. It was clean and the staff was great. Location wasn't as convenient as I had hoped.

Beautifully decorated and great location. Many restaurants and great bars in the area. It's a walk to the area with more of the distilleries, but I preferred this area.

In a great part of town in NuLu. Coffee shops, BBQ, breweries and great unique shops all within walking distance. Easy parking on side streets or valet. Gotta try the warm olives in the rooftop bar at the hotel. Addicting….got to go to Muths to get the special candy. Hotel is uniquely decorated and has a great vibe. Staff was friendly.

The location is excellent. Plan ahead if there's a city-wide event—a downtown concert brought many tourists to the neighborhood limiting options for dinner in NuLu. Hotel Genevieve's restaurant was having issues and wasn't open.

So adorable! Rosettes is the restaurant downstairs and I had literally the best breakfast I've had all year there. So yummy! Loved staying here and hope I can come back next time.

Top notch decor and service. Enjoyed the room, rooftop, mini marche, lobby, valet and walkable neighborhood.

The NULU area was not as walkable as promoted. Hotel shows a lot of wear and tear. The woman bartender was over the top rude to pretty much everyone on a slow Monday night. We were told the hotel restaurant was closed at the time of booking but didn’t realize how needed it was. We could get coffee and some packaged snacks. The Cuban restaurant across the street is excellent! The rooms were ecclectic and fun. Comfy beds. Need much better lighting. Valet (Ash) was awesome! Very quick and friendly!

Breakfast was delicious and the staff was kind despite seeming overwhelmed. Hotel has a great vibe and in a nice location.

Extremely well appointed, with competent, welcoming staff. Byrdie’s, the restaurant for the hotel, was fabulous (long-braised short rib and beetroot en croute!!!)

The rooftop bar is lovely and the hotel decor is very cool. But I cannot figure out why this hotel got a Michelin Key. The rooms are very dimly lit (even the bathroom, so forget about putting on your makeup); there's not a lot of storage; no coffee maker or free coffee; no box of tissue in the bathroom. The food offerings at the rooftop bar are very mediocre, to say the least. How is this place considered special? It's adequate.
