Very nice B&B with restaurant and bar on site

A fantastic stay. The owners / staff are really nice friendly people. We got to park our motorbikes in the secure barn. We had a nice evening chatting in the bar with the owners and other residents. The food was good, and the rooms were perfect for us. The view from the hotel is lovely and i would definitely stay here again. Great stay 👍

Me and the wife went for 2 nights stay .great welcome from all . Handy if your a biker like myself had a garage handy for putting bike in and locked over night. Lovely little bar ,open fire and locals were all great. Food fantastic. Will be staying there again.👍👍👍

Booked as a one night stop whilst touring on a motorbike, great on site parking and also had the offer of parking the bike in a garage. It’s perfectly safe. The evening food was freshly cooked and a great choice. The breakfast sets you up for the day and again all freshly cooked.

Another comfortable night in the country, close to Aberystwyth but full of country charm. Who could ask for a better waterfall viewable from the beer garden, it could be a tourist attraction in it's own right.

The hotel was perfect, food was lovely (evening meal and breakfast) room had a lovely view and everything you required. We had motorcycles which we were able to lock them in a barn. Would definitely stay again.

Stay was part of a multi stop trip visiting Wales. Really couldn't fault any part. Service was excellent - from check-in to dinner to breakfast. We had dinner at the hotel, which was homemade + tasty. A small bar area as well as a scenic dinning area overlooking the valley. Good WiFi and plenty of parking. Room clean and good condition.

Karen, one of the owner, could not have been more helpful. We were there for one night to go to my dad’s funeral. I had to ring the hotel twice for advice about something and Karen went out of her way to help. Breakfast was lovely a good selection and set us up for the day. Although the building is old it was spotless. A beautiful waterfall at the bottom of the garden. Lots of bird life flying around. Perfect. Thank you Karen and family

I recently stayed at this property in room 7, and I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience. Firstly, I’d like to commend the hotel’s excellent location and the warmth of the staff, who made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. However, I must express my concern about the state of the accommodations, as they are in dire need of refurbishment. Unfortunately, the room was cold and damp, with visible signs of mould that appeared to be painted over. The towels felt damp to the touch, and we found an old blood stain on the valance, dirt under the taps, and peeling flooring in the bathroom. Additionally, the wallpaper in the bedroom was bubbling, and there was a crack in the door concealed by a fire alarm sign. The furniture looked poorly assembled, the bed was quite hard, and the small, high window provided little view and was largely obscured by condensation. While we understand that the building is old and appreciate some creaking floorboards, the overall lack of maintenance was disheartening. I experienced mild allergic reactions, including a chesty cough, which contributed to a restless night. I intended to discuss these issues at checkout, but unfortunately, due to the very early time we chose to vacate, the reception was unattended. While we chose not to voice our concerns during our stay, we felt that without significant updates to the rooms, we could not recommend the hotel to others.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. The building is older, but the rooms are spotlessly clean. The restaurant is newly refurbished - We ate here and the food was gorgeous! Our bedroom was upgraded with views as we were here for a birthday - thank you again. The bed was comfortable and it sounds silly but great windows - we are always warm sleepers so it was amazing to have such a breeze through the night with no noise really. Only minor gripe is the bathroom fan is SO loud. If that was fixed, everything would be perfect. Karen was so lovely the whole time and her partner. Bruce was great at dinner. Honestly, everyone was so kind. They even stored a bag of snacks and drinks we had brought for the long journey which was so helpful. It was a wonderful stay, would highly recommend here.

Lovely hotel with amazing scenery. Very clean and nicely decorated. Room was as expected, clean and well presented. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We had an evening meal which delicious and well portioned.

We stayed as a group. THE GOOD The evening meal was nice. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location suited our trip. THE NOT SO GOOD The building generally needs work and is very tired with cracks, worn fittings and suchlike The rooms are very dated and worn. My room was on the top and though clean, it had an odd fusty smell that lingered, despite opening the window. TO SUMMARISE I'd look elsewhere if ever in the area again, unless the rooms and general look and feel can be addressed.

This was a stopover on the way to local sights in Wales. The room was a bit disappointing. We didn’t find it super clean, the ceiling was low(top floor room), bathroom small, shower didn’t drain well… with that said it was quiet and the little restaurant was decent. We had dinner and the server was very nice and made sure we had what we needed. The meal was ok. We have stayed places much better for less.

All staff were very pleasant and helpful, room was looking a little tired and the bed was too soft for my liking. Was lovely and quiet with a beautiful view.

Staff was really friendly. Food was enjoyable. It is an older hotel and needs some updating but it was clean. We stayed on the 3rd floor and there is a lot of stairs to get there so for an older person it might be hard but it was ok for us. It was quiet and the views were very pretty.

I had a nice comfortable room although the duvet was too heavy for this time of year! As there was a group of rugby fans in the bar no room for me after a long drive to get a drink. Also had to fit in with the kitchen for times of both dinner and breakfast, so had to have mine esrlier than i perhaps would have. However the meal was freshly cooked and hot. Dont know why Hotels.com have taken £1 and the hotel doesn't take this off my bill. !!???

Looking to stay near Aberystwyth as part of a longer business trip across Wales. Service & food was good. Room tired but clean & comfortable. I had a lovely view over the mountain.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. I am looking forward to a return stay at some point in the future.

Chose this hotel from previous reviews and have been delighted. It is that rarity, a deservedly successful family-run small hotel. Excellent dinner, excellent breakfast, room with a good bed, ensuite shower and great view. Karen, Rob, Claire and Mark look after all of us with professional standards and attention to detail yet at the same time make us feel like honoured members of the family. And all for a fair price. Thank you all so much!

We stayed overnight as part of our motorcycle road trip. This was a very nice hotel with very friendly owners and staff, and suited our needs perfectly. They made us feel welcome from the start. They let us keep some of our bikes in the garage for security and parked thei car across the bsck of the bikes left outside .. We didn’t have an evening as we'd already eaten en route, but breakfast was very nice. All in all, we had a great overnight stay and were made to feel welcome from the start. We will definitely be staying here again on next years road trip..

Wonderful view to the mountains

Located in a lovely part of Wales this place has the best staff who are lovely, genuinely welcoming and helpful. The food reminded me of my mum's coming in a very good way indeed with delicious options for every taste with gluten free and veggie options. Good home style cooking. Bedrooms are neat, spotless and comfy. Location is just gorgeous, make sure to take a stroll into the low hills behind and see the waterfall and river. Did I say the people were lovely, cos they are.

Beautifully situated in the Welsh hillsides with fantastic views and at the side of a waterfall this 230 year old coaching inn is modern in all requisites and is maintained in superb condition gaining 5/5 in hygiene standards. The hosts are welcoming and friendly and go above and beyond to make their guests feel at home.

We were visiting the Uni in Aberystwyth the following morning and with a 4 hour journey needed an affordable, easy to find stop off. The staff were so friendly. Room was perfect for our quick overnight stay. Very quiet area with great views. Lovely traditional bar to have a relaxing drink and snack in. Didn’t eat at hotel but the dining space looked clean and inviting. Will definitely use this hotel again as my son will be attending the uni from Sep I will be making that journey often and there lots of attractions to visit in the area.

A very friendly welcome from the hosts, you can see that they are working very hard to keep this old property up to date without loosing the charm of a traditional road side inn. Restaurant offers large portions of well prepared food in a very matter of fact way, not at all pretentious which is how I like it. Though on a busy main road the George Borrow offers a quite stay in the countryside with easy access to Aberystwyth.
