Very unique property, clean, quiet, great for relaxing and watching northern lights if they are visible. Relaxing in the geothermal feed spa is a must do if you are visiting the Ion.

Virkelig god service, flinkt personale - ringede til os, da man kunne se nordlys. Daglig rengøring. Udmærket morgenmad. Kan anbefale at spise på restauranten om aftenen - hyggelig atmosfære & lækker mad. Dejlig pool man kan slappe af i.

The restaurant was wonderful for both dinner and breakfast, as were views from the bar and the heated dipping pool. Room was modern and clean. Our expectations were low as we drove in past the neighboring power plant (geothermal) and the construction equipment spread out across the parking lot and near the main entrance, but we had a nice stay.

L’hôtel est globalement correct. Les chambres standards sont un peu petites par rapport au standard de l’hôtel. La piscine est un plus même si elle reste petite… Bémols de cet hôtel: la minuscule salle de sport avec seulement 2 vélos elliptiques et quelques poids, et les tarifs horriblement élevés du restaurant. Nous avons sauté le petit déjeuner à 27€.

Sehr schönes Hotel. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir waren im Januar und wollten gerne Polarlichter sehen. Im Hotel gab es ein Angebot, per Anruf geweckt zu werden, wenn Polarlichter sichtbar sind. Das war super und hat den Aufenthalt außergewöhnlich gemacht. Was mir nicht so gefallen hat, war die Sauna und der Ruhebereich. Die Sauna war zu klein. Und im ruhebereich hatte man nicht wirklich seine Ruhe. Trotzdem würde ich es wieder buchen.

Room was excellent, staff was great! We loved the location, geothermal pool and sauna, etc. couldn’t have been happier to spend 2 nights here at the End of our Iceland adventure!

Beautiful location and comfortable hotel — great “lounging” outdoor hot tub, cocktail bar, and views from the room. The meals in the restaurant were fab.

Great property. Unigue architecture. Nice thermal pool to soak. Breakfast not included is a downside when other hotels in the area offer, especially with no food options available. It is a remote location. Beautiful.

I really wanted to love this hotel, but I feel like a pictures don't represent what I experienced in person. The hotel is really remote, but is right next to a power station that keeps its lights on all night. I originally thought this was the issue of the light streaming into our room at night, but turned out to be the hotel lobby light. When I mentioned this to the staff, their answer was that’s what the black out curtains were for. I was under the impression they were for Iceland's long summer days? Overall it gave me the impression they don’t really take into consideration people’s experience there. I wish instead of spending the money to expand they would update what already exists. We didn't know renovations were taking place and did not have a great first impression upon arriving. Overall half of the hotel feels dark and outdated including our room. Our bedroom and bathroom were not represented in the ones pictured. And on top of that bathroom shower just felt like it never got hot enough. I’m glad we made reservations for dinner because the restaurant was at capacity and I could see people waiting in the lobby for tables to open. Despite my feelings about the hotel itself, our dinner was delicious. If you do stay here request a room on the other side of the hotel away from the plant and as far away from the restaurant as possible to ensure the least light pollution and the most privacy. Make dinner reservations and plan to use the spa at sunrise when it’s quiet.

One star for restaurant staff, which did good job during breakfast and dinner. The hotel is outdated and pictures are a frame for a scam. The hotel reminds you of an old nature center / research facility, it is not a 4-Star Hotel and should not be marketed as one.

A nice place in the middle of the national park. A couple of hiking trails around and helpful stuff. I’m general, being in Iceland for the second time and having a chance to compare good hotels and small wooden houses, I would say that the hotel is very much overpriced. - it is located right next to the power station (so you can expect typical Icelandic smell all the time) - the only change to have a meal is at the overpriced restaurant (the breakfast is average too) - spa includes only a relatively small hot tub (which is usually super full of tourists), a room where you can chill and read a book and a sauna - you can literally hear everything what is happening outside the room (whether it is someone going to the hot tub or running for the northern lights or just taking shower in the next room) I have visited better places in Iceland with a more fair pricing, service and comfort. Nevertheless this is an understandable marketing concept from the location.

All of it was pretty great, just not sure it’s worth the high price. Definitely avoid the restaurant, very expensive and not worth it. Spa was awesome, northern lights bar was a great venue. The property is under construction but we hardly noticed. Half the rooms have a great view on one side of the building, the other half have a good view but that includes a power station which kinda spoiled it. The staff here are beyond excellent.

The hotel is very isolated and travel on the roads around the hotel was difficult in the weather conditions. The room was fantastic but the curtains didn't cover the windows, with people out walking was a bit of a privacy concern. The geothermal pool and sauna were really good and great to relax in after a day of sightseeing. Food offering was limited which with no real option to eat away from the hotel was frustrating but the food we had was high standard.

The room is too dark for the lighting design.

A lovely hotel in wild, tranquil surroundings. Food was excellent, albeit a limited choice. For a holiday hotel, breakfast finishing at 10.00. was annoying, especially on weekends. Bed and room were small but comfortable and had most everything you needed, except tissues. On the downside, the lighting throughout the hotel is dreadful, especially the restaurant, but there is absolutely nowhere where you can sit and read, even in the bedrooms.. Similarly, for a hotel like this not to have a fireplace of any sort to sit by was also a great shame.

The guest service is off the charts here. Swift was amazing at the desk in helping us reareange our trip due to a storm coming in (cancelling hotels, getting a room back in the city, etc.) The entire team is so friendly and we felt right at home. We will have fond memories of Ion Adventure. 🙏

The staff was exceptional. The location amazing the views. The aura wake up called. The dinning options were good.

The service in the restaurant was really bad and not what one expect from a hotel such as ION. We told the hotel manager and they sharpen the service the following evening.

Had an awesome stay. Staff was great and took great care of us! Totally recommend!

The perk is the staff. I do not recollect her name ( shame on me ) but the kind lady at the front desk called each one of us when the northern lights appeared .

Check in catastrophisue aucune indication sur le bar les horaires le petit déjeuner rien . Elle m’a juste donné ma carte j’ai du courrir après les infos . L’impression de déranger. J’ai appelé une fois pour m’assurer avoir la chambre que j’ai réservé puis j’ai voulu rappeler afin d’annuler ma réservation au restau plus de réponse . J’ai eu une chambre face à l’usine en face , alors que j’ai payé le prix fort 400€ la nuit ( le jour même ils étaient moins cher !) totalement idiot de mettre ceux qui payent le plus cher dans les moins bonnes chambres . Je ne recommande pas il y a des guesthouse et petit hôtel vraiment en pleine nature et bien plus accueillant et avec une meilleure vue

A unique hotel situated in a remote location, only 40 minutes drive from Reykjavik, and on the golden circle route. The welcome drink was appreciated. Worth mentioning are the wonderful staff, always welcoming, professional, kind and service with a smile. The Swedish male waiter at dinner was super! The rooms were nicely decorated, clean, and quiet. It got a bit hot during the night but opening the window cooled it quickly. The bar at the front of the hotel was great for enjoying a pre-dinner drink, and the barman kindly concocted a mocktail for our children. Breakfast was thumbs up from the whole family. Worth staying for an authentic Iceland experience.

Very helpful be in a hotel where you can have wake up calla for the aurora. The entire personal was great and very helpful with advices

The hotel is fine, rooms are on a smaller side, there is some construction going on the property so it can be loud at times. However, the issue is hotel is NOT in Selfoss. It's not even close to Selfoss, around 45 min out of town of Selfoss, in the middle of nowhere. Not sure why it shows up in Selfoss.

Special atmosphere in the heart of Iceland National Park. Wonderful experiene to rum away from civilization.

Quite remote from everything else. Difficult drive up the mountain. No hot water on the last morning when we needed to check out :-(

Great location for the Golden Circle.

Beautiful location; spa and geothermal pool a bonus. The staff are amazing! Loved the “check in beverage” very modern and clean. NOTE: closest gas is 32 km away. Make sure you have enough gas to get there and back as the road from Selfoss to the hotel is very very empty of other cars and houses so if you get stuck it’s a long long walk!

Amazing location for northern lights. Very strong sulfur smell due to steam plant but totally expected. Wake up calls for the northern lights. Modern hotel with great amenities. Breakfast was amazing.

Love the location, but overall it doesn’t live up to the price. We ordered two lunchboxes to go for 9,000 ISK and got pre-cut cheese sandwiches and four huge apples for two people. It felt like a rip-off. Fish at dinner was great, but housebred was very dry. Also breakfast is not worth it.

Good place, prices a little to high regards to the quality - but in total, a good experience. The dinner was good, and it became an experience when the staff stopped the dinner and said to the guest.. you should all go outside, the northern light is gloving. By god it was. 2 km of pure green shine dancing on the sky. Amazing, but the price tag a little to high.

All in all a great stay. Surroundings are amazing, staff wonderful and the heated pool brilliant. A couple of things that wasn’t so great: pool was closed for cleaning one of the days we were at the hotel which was a bit annoying as we only spent one night. Also the hotel restaurant is ridiculously expensive - as in crazy expensive😳😂

They gave us a quite early check in. Much appreciated after over night flight. Also room upgrade. Breakfast expensive.

We really liked Ion Adventure. The only thing less than perfect was the Silfra restaurant - our wait staff was excellent, but the food was not. I tried the "beet burger", and someone else had the falafel, and they were not good. Otherwise we really liked the hotel.
