Unfortunately my bathroom wasn’t very clean, some remnants from the previous guest on the basin. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. I only noticed it while having a bath. I will try this one again as I believe that they deserve a second chance.

Hunters Hall accommodation is satisfactory. The bathroom was rather tired but clean enough. The same was true of the room which was ok . For example, when we arrived one of the curtains was hanging down with a number of hooks missing or damaged. However, the staff did come and fix it temporarily. It was useful having the restaurant on site and reasonably priced. Food was quite good with ample portions. Overall, it was fine for a few nights but is in need of a makeover.

The price they charge for the standard of room is ridiculous. The rooms are very dated, smell of damp and generally pretty poor. The bathrooms are pretty horrible, albeit clean, they need some attention and a refurbishment. Rooms are dark, and windows are poorly sealed, leading to loud road noise and birds waking you up at 5am when they start right outside the window. I imagine the only reason they can charge the price they do is because of guests for the wedding for Mantara opposite. I regularly pay less for a much nicer room at Hilton’s, in London, on a Saturday night.

I booked our stay here for 25/6 when I brought Tickets for a concert at Westonbirt for my husbands birthday, trusting it to be similar to our previous excellent experiences at another Greene King hotel near Dartmouth,The Dartbridge Inn .On arrival the lady we met on reception was very welcoming and helpful ,no issues there .Whilst not expecting 5* accommodation ,we were shocked to see how much the room was in desperate need of modernisation, decorating &general much needed attention .We convinced ourselves that it was just a place to stay after the concert ,on closer inspection however it was very obvious the bathroom toilet was not clean ,dirt evident on skirting boards, cobwebs in the bathroom it’s paint peeling off the walls and in a pretty poor state ,the floors didn’t look hoovered or as othe hoover hadn’t worked well .The towels and bedding was fresh however . After walking bare foot in the room ,I was aware of a sharp stone and my feet began to feel grubby .I cleaned them with a wipe and was horrified to see brown grime that had come off of the soles of my feet.(I had showered before leaving home !) I raised it with the lady who was very apologetic ,saying it had been cleaned by house keeping she apologised more and that it was usually done to a very high standard.I asked if something could be done, she said she would do it herself and has in our return ,which was appreciated . I have no issue with the polite staff ,but I’m afraid it spoilt our experience completely .
