We just returned from a wedding on Nantucket, staying at the Faraway property. We loved the "downtown Nantucket" location, helpful and responsive staff, clean and updated rooms, sizable and comfortable courtyard sitting area, and access to bikes, beach towels and chairs, etc. We'd definitely return. Our only complaint would be that we had a loud AC wall unit, and there were sitting chairs right outside our ground floor room window where the same couple would sit or take work calls in the morning, so we'd avoid that room next time.

This property has no lobby. The check in is a hallway in the front of the hotel. The employees are not very friendly and should be, because you’re paying a premium price. The common areas and courtyards are beautiful and well appointed, and the location is very good. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the Faraway Nantucket.

The employees at this property went above and beyond to make our stay absolutely perfect. Our room was on the third floor, no elevator, stairs only. In Nantucket we expected to walk a lot so this was not an issue for us. Our room was beautiful, clean and well maintained. It was my 63rd birthday and a complimentary bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket, a box of Artisan chocolate and a birthday card were waiting for me in my room. It was so thoughtful of staff to do that. The staff were always corteous and very helpful with our questions. So happy we stayed here. I hoghly recommend this nostalgic hotel to anyone looking to be completely satisfied with their stay!! Well done Faraway staff!

Front desk area was so small and crowded.There’s no lobby, no gym, or any other amenities. Room was small and the wall was paper thin. Room cleaning only came one day for the entire 3 night stay. The worst part was the alarm in the hallway went off in the middle of the night (3am) and we called the front desk immediately, but nobody came to fix it until the morning. It went on for hours and kept us up! All we got was an apology note with chocolate. It’s not worth the price and I won’t be returning.

Hotel is the best deal in town! Be prepared for a small room with big furniture. It’s all very nice but definitely tiny. Bathroom is not very well maintained or cleaned but again it’s so tiny it would be a challenge to clean quickly. Bar and restaurant is very nice but doesn’t open until 5 so if you want to spend time enjoying the space during the day BYOB.

Loved how central this hotel is. The bikes were an added perk to get around the island. However, we asked for someone to fill up the tires since they were low and we had to wait almost 30 minutes for someone to come outside. The staff was not very friendly or helpful during our stay. My friend was inquiring about the free coffee and instead of the front desk woman helping, she was incredibly sassy and rude saying “I told you it’s over there!” in a mean tone. Overall pretty disappointed with our stay given the good reviews and high hopes we had.

I would like a full refund for my stay at the Faraway this past weekend. The room I was put in was littered with bed bugs and other assorted bugs in the sheets and throughout the room. I was then moved to a nicer room on the house and again, bugs were found.

Had a great stay at The Faraway! Property and room are very clean, well appointed, generally comfortable, although extremely tight (as is almost everything in town on ACK). Appreciated the friendly, helpful service and convenient location.

Very subpar room for the price. Bathroom had mold in the tile caulking. Sloped ceiling. Hubby kept bumping his head on it.. found some random hairs in the room. But, bed is very comfortable, so there’s that.

Upon arrival the front desk host was very frazzled and checkin was not seamless. Room cleanliness was not good - dirty floors and bathroom was not cleaned properly. Cable tv was not working. No phone in room to reach front desk.

Love this hotel so much, but the noise is really terrible. Between the walls and floors being thin, be ready to not sleep. Oh and the trash trucks every morning at 6:30am is also a joy. Beautiful place but not quiet at all.

I liked the location of the property in proximity to the town, food, shopping and distance. Staff were friendly. We were very disappointed in the room. We were on the 3rd floor with a slanted ceiling which was okay but not desirable. The worst part was the air conditioning. It was HOT in our room at night making it an awful night's sleep. Thankfully we were only there one night. There is no fan in the room and no one to call in the evening to fix the AC. If we were staying another night we would have complained about the room. Very disappointed considering it was an expensive nightly cost for the room.

Fantastic location, very comfortable bed. Rooms are tiny, if we were staying longer than 48 hours it would be pretty hard to unpack suitcases at all. Bathrooms and showers not located in room which would have been ok, but all the doors on our floor creaked, not something I would normally mention but the sound was so loud it was comical. Staff was asked to wd40 the hinges to no avail. Others on our floor complained as well. When folks have to use the WC in the middle of the night everyone was woken up. At least it provided plenty of laughter.

Great hotel, great location, awesome staff. Our “Petite King” room was clean and nice but absolutely tiny and in the 3rd floor eaves so you couldn’t stand up. Next time I’d upgrade to another type of room but I would definitely stay there again!

The room was incredibly small for the price and what was represented on the website. No chair for the table, only 2 hangars and almost nonexistent space to hang clothes. I had to store my suitcase on the floor in front of the door at night and on the bed during the day. The bathroom was fine.

The check in was problematic. The front desk was not gracious and bumbled through the process. Our room was considered a petite king. It was extremely small. There was little room to move freely about. With maybe 16-20 inches wide between the wall and the bed. It is not safe for the disabled or anyone who might be a fall risk. Please make sure to get a suite if you need space to move. There is virtually no closet space as the closet is full with a refrigerator and safe and there is less than maybe 8 inches of space to hang on the enclosed bar. There is no room for dresses, pants, suits or longer coats. It is a beautiful property but comes with disappointment in your room options.

Location is great. Property is very nice, some staff are very helpful and very polite, others are rude and pretty useless. The rooms are really hit or miss. I’ve stayed many times in most categories of room, some again are good, some are tiny and many are noisy, partly due to the building layout and partly due to adjoining doors and very thin walls. I would stay again but it’s not one of the best hotels here, the bike use is a nice perk, but offered by many.

Our stay at Faraway in Nantucket was unacceptable. I informed the property that my 78-year-old mother has COPD and cannot climb stairs. Despite this, we were placed on the 4th floor with no elevator. When we requested a room change—offering to take any downgrade—they refused and dismissed our concerns completely. This is not only a failure in hospitality, but also a disregard for basic accessibility standards and ADA compliance. Guests with health conditions deserve safe accommodations. This experience was stressful, dangerous, and deeply disappointing. I will never return and strongly caution others, especially anyone with mobility or health concerns, to avoid this property.

We loved the hotel, the courtyard, and the proximity to all of Nantucket. It was an amazing location, with great rooms, great service, and a wonderful bar, restaurant, and lounge. All of the employees were wonderful as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We were not able to access our room till 2 hours after check in. 6pm. I understand they offered an upgrade but it was minor considering I had already paid for a nice room and the upgrade was not substantial enough to warrant waiting for 2 hours while only being on the island one evening. We weren’t even able to use much of the amenities at this beautiful property because we had so much to do and reserved. Our dinner reservations were pushed a few hours which made us miss the sunset! It also seemed that the hotel was overwhelmed with guests checking in that the WiFi or property software program had significant issues loading which created an even longer wait and cluster of guests who seemed a little bit short tempered.it is a very beautiful hotel and we had a friend who helped launch life house who recommended this property specifically to us. Sad that it wasn’t the best of experiences.

Faraway Nantucket is a fantastic hotel. Located in the heart of the historic district, it is easy walking distance to both ferry terminals, close to all the best restaurants and shopping, plus right around the corner from the NHA Whaling Museum. The staff was friendly and helpful. Large enough to have the amenities you want, but no so large that it feels impersonal. With rooms split between several adjacent buildings, we felt like we were in a small B&DB/Inn. Rooms are all recently updated so it felt like new construction yet had a historic feel. We will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel centrally located in town. Walking distance to everything. Great clean rooms and bigger than most hotels in the area. Staff was helpful. The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast just donuts and coffee on Wednesdays to Sundays. Yet restaurants close by where you can buy breakfast and bring back to enjoy at the hotel.

Just stayed at the Faraway with friends for a long weekend and we had the absolute best time! The hotel has such a cool, boutique vibe and the staff was lovely and very accommodating. We loved the on-site restaurant Sister Ship - the cocktails were fabulous. Also took advantage of the complimentary hotel bike rentals to explore the island. The central location is so convenient - you're steps away from all the best shops and restaurants and a short trip away from beaches and other parts of the island. Would definitely recommend!
