We really enjoyed the stay at Hotel Hartness. Arrived in evening after hike at Caesar’s Head. Very refreshing shower and pool after hike. 20 minute drive to downtown Greenville to walk around! Breakfast included was delicious! Tea Forte teas were a special treat. Morning bike ride on complimentary bikes and wake up swim!! Very refreshing!

The hotel is clean, comfortable and relaxing. The pool bar staff person was wonderful as were the folks at check-in and the Patterson. The staff at the hotel bar were very nice but the service was extremely slow. We waited forever for minor things and had piles of empty dishes for 20 minutes after dinner, then waited 40 minutes for the home baked cookies. We were in town for a sporting event and needed ice on several occasions and were surprised that there was no ice machine. The breakfast staff was kind and fetched it each morning but were clearly overwhelmed and not happy to have to stop their breakfast work to go get ice. An ice machine available to guests would be good. Overall, we truly loved our stay and would start there again when in the area.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is very professional and friendly. They really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast is good with the essentials to start up your day. We love the decoration throughout the hotel and the attention to details. We will definitely be coming back here.

Loved the hotel. Rooms were spotless. Quiet. Heat and air work amazing. Shower was incredible. Hot water and amazing water pressure. Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars was the parking lot was dark at night and I expected a little better breakfast than powdered eggs and cookie cutter sausage. Will definitely keep this hidden jem of a retreat on the radar for the future.

Front desk staff upon arrival was wonderful and welcoming. Gorgeous hotel, fantastic decor, and WILL be gorgeous grounds. Lots of construction and land development. Loved our dinner at Patterson, despite the fact that our reservation was for a low top on the restaurant, and we were sat in a very busy and uncomfortable high top table in the bar. Fine for a drink or two but not so for a nice meal. Several areas of the hotel needed cleaning, specifically the fitness center bathrooms and the tables and floor in front of one of the fireplaces. I was having my coffee there at 6:30 and it was clear they had not been cleaned up from the night before. The breakfast was very nice and lovely that it was included, but there was a large team of workmen who were at the hotel and they took up all the seating area in the eating area, right in front of the fire. When they were finished eating (loudly), after many rounds of food, they remained at the tables looking at social media. Guests of the hotel were forced to take their breakfast elsewhere.

not to par of lasts stay. no complimentary proessco or macarons offered this time like i was 2 years ago.. no pre-arrival email that they said i would get 72 hrs before arrival. no idea why my roll was ridiculously far away. last time i came i didn’t have to surrender my ID and sign a contract before biking around the property. breakfast was fanatic however. stain on the carpet upon entering room. i also swore they used to offer robes but my memory could be wrong. still great, but questioning some interactions with staff and not quite as amazing as it was in Aug 2023

We sadly only stayed one night and got in late, but loved all the amenities offered. We wish we could stay longer to enjoy the spa, but loved how peaceful and relaxing the overall atmosphere of the hotel was. Will stay again if we are in the area! The espresso in the room was a nice touch. Loved the amazing features in the shower.

Great place to stay. Very nice property. The staf was super professional and the complementary breakfast was great. The only 2 issues i woild say is the key cards were tont working so every time we had to get in to our room the staff had to let us in. Also the bathroom is not privat, it has a sliding door that dosnt lock and dosnt fully close. Other than that it is a great place to stay. I would return for another stay.

Property is lovely. Close enough to Greenville to feel close but far enough to feel away. Walking trails are great. Rooms are small but adequate. The highlight of this property for me is Patterson Kitchen. Only restaurant I have ever been to where our entire party said “That meal was the best I have ever had”. Great flavors, Great Service.

By far the most relaxing trip Ive taken. The calming atmosphere, the fast check-in, friendly staff. All was on point. Not to mention the aesthetics were breathtaking. I was amazed at the friendly environment. Dont get that everywhere. Cozy rooms, comfortable beds, robes. It was definitely a 10/10

The area is new, clean and generally nice. The hotel service was horrific. They gave us a room that was already occupied. They didn't believe us so we went back and forth to the front desk out to prove our situation. This clearly creates a safety concern because what would have happen if the person was in the room when I entered. They provided no remorse or compensation for what was a clear failure of their ability to manage their inventory. From the pool, front desk and breakfest they were completely understaffed. One person in each space for a busy hotel. Clear management issues. I unfortunately would not recommend this otherwise beautiful hotel because does matter and they don't have it right.

This property has become my favorite place to stay in Greenville. You have to drive a little to get to attractions and downtown but service and comfort make up for it. Beds are very comfortable, linens are crisp. The artwork around the hotel common areas is lovely and offers another unique perk. Staff is very professional in all areas and give attention to detail. I appreciate the bar having several non alcoholic cocktails and beers as well as some delicious bites. Highly recommend this property.

Seriously under staffed. Restaurant had no help. Apparently cook quit earlier that day and the bartender was trying to handle everything. No manager on duty. We stayed here before when it first opened and the experience was totally different. Very sad, because we enjoyed it so much the first time

Everything was great. Safe, clean and luxurious. The only negative was when we first got there, there wasn’t anyone at the front desk for about 10 minutes and then when we used the luggage cart for our bags, a staff member came up to my wife and sort of “took over” the cart without asking if we needed any help and it made my wife feel a little uncomfortable because she was waiting while I was parking the car.

We booked this property for a big birthday milestone a month in advance and drove more than 3 hours with my two daughters to experience this particular niche hotel and spa. Then they didn’t give us a room. They did find us a basic room in a chain hotel 25 minutes away with no spa. There were plenty of people in line behind us, somehow they got a room. The manager wouldn’t come and talk to us, just made the assistant manager do the work. I’d recommend a back up plan.

From the moment I stepped in the door, their customer service was top notch. I appreciated the enthusiasm, professionalism and respect that the front desk attendant showed me. But it didn’t stop there, every single person I passed in the hall said hello and made eye contact. Everything was immaculately clean, the restaurant was delicious and our server attentive. The room was prepared with all of the towels & toiletries needed; I didn’t have to request anything like so many other hotels. The breakfast was simple but everything was top quality. I appreciated that the mixed fruit bowl included strawberries and blueberries, not just cantaloupe and honeydew. My small group was able to have our business meeting right in the lobby and no one bothered us. I would have liked to stay here for a week. It was lovely; I hope they don’t change a thing.

We really enjoyed the stay at Hotel Hartness. Arrived in evening after hike at Caesar’s Head. Very refreshing shower and pool after hike. 20 minute drive to downtown Greenville to walk around! Breakfast included was delicious! Tea Forte teas were a special treat. Morning bike ride on complimentary bikes and wake up swim!! Very refreshing!

What a gem!! Definitely the place to stay when in Greenville, or even to visit specifically as a vacation. It’s not in the city (about 15min drive) and that’s the beauty of this place: it’s away from touristy stuff, and in the middle of nature, but close enough to the city that you can always go and visit. The service was 6 star! All the staff were super friendly, and while a part of it is “southern hospitality “, there for sure is an added factor of the culture of the hotel. Great dining options in the hotel, spa, surrounded by nature make this a must see.

My stay was 1/31 thru 2/2. The HOTEL is great, the staff is very nice. My problem was, it’s nearly impossible to FIND the place! GPS sends me to roads that are closed for construction. As an alternative, GPS suggests the OTHER end of the same road - also closed. I got there after dark, and my only option was to drive around blindly for an hour until I randomly hit the right path. This turned out to be an unlit, unlikely looking narrow avenue into the woods that looked like I might be trespassing in somebody’s driveway. They could have solved all this with clear signage, but there was none!

Also, while I informed staff in advance of medical dietary restrictions, nothing was done in preparation for our reservations--including marking which items were safe for me to eat or could be made safe with slight adjustments. For both dinners, at the Captain's Bar and the Patterson, it took nearly 45 minutes each night to discover what if anything was safe for a Celiac with soy and dairy allergies to eat. When the food was served, it was lukewarm.

Positive experience at Hartness. Clean, comfortable. Feels quite private, nice fitness center and pool, relaxing outdoor spaces, decent breakfast, excellent service. Surprisingly good food at the bar. Would like to specially recognize the breakfast staff, they are very attentive and seem to enjoy what they do.

Loved the spa treatments and pool area for relaxing. Pattersons restaurant was a disappointment this time. Last summer the dinner choices were more to my liking. This time my group of 8 diners had a hard time choosing something they wanted and not one of the 4 of us that choose the shrimp entree liked it. Our reservation was at 7:30 and our main course arrived at 9:15. The waitress seemed put off when I asked at 8:50 to check on our food. We ordered $48 worth of bread because our main course took so long and the waitress tried to up sell my granddaughter on a non alcoholic cocktail that was more expensive that the soft drink she had ordered. We also brought our own surprise birthday cake which the restaurant said was fine but the waitress tried to talk some at the table into ordering a dessert before she brought out the birthday cake. She should have offered the desserts after bringing out the cake. On a positive note the service was attentive and the waitress cut and served the cake for us.

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Hartness! The room was clean and well-appointed, and the staff was helpful and very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the interaction with the bartender who made a great Hemingway dacquiri. The Patterson dining room was stylish yet casual, with delicious offerings. Our server was delightful! Breakfast is relatively simple but just right (in our opinion). The grounds on this property are beautiful, inviting wandering and relaxation. Our time there was a welcome respite, and we'll definitely return.

Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars was the parking lot was dark at night and I expected a little better breakfast than powdered eggs and cookie cutter sausage. Will definitely keep this hidden jem of a retreat on the radar for the future.

Great place. Staff was very friendly. Only minor criticisms - could use a little more varied menu at Patterson and Captain and maybe a little more variety in the breakfast from day to day. We highly recommend Hotel Hartness. The setting is beautiful- miles of trails around the gorgeous wooded acres. Hotel is modern and beautifully appointed. The rooms are clean and nicely sized. Food at the Patterson restaurant and the Captain bar is delicious, with great service. The bartender makes great drinks!

I thought this was going to be a great place for me to stay when I come to Greenville every month for business. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The room had loud noises that caused a banging and whistling sound every 25-30 minutes throughout the entire night. I only slept a couple of hours because of this. I went to the front desk at midnight and 1am and no one was there. I called the front desk at 3:30am and was told management wouldn’t be there until the morning. I spoke with the front desk in the morning but they told management wouldn’t be in until later in the day. The maintenance man was there and acknowledged the loud noises were something they were aware of and that a manager would contact me to make it right. I never heard from anyone! I called back the next day and the manager was rude and couldn’t have cared less. I see why there are other complaints about the staff’s customer service. They were not helpful at all. I wouldn’t take the chance of not being able to sleep at this hotel. The staff will not help you.
