Great location to walk out the door and go explore. Restaurant attached had great food and drinks and don’t forget to go to the rooftop or to the sauna downstairs! Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend this hotel!!

Hotel was amazing. Top notch. Customer service was great, room was large and clean. We also used the wellness spa (sauna and steam room). Bohemia is the restaurant next door where breakfast was included. Typical European breakfast but good quality. You also get passes to use the transit system around town for free.

A stunning hotel, and extremely comfortable, within walking distance of everything. Service was excellent, so helpful and welcoming and we ate in Bohemia which was delicious, and again great staff! Beware of the parking restrictions…there is one car park across the road at 50CHF a night and it is busy, but we persevered and found a space within a 10min wait. Again hotel was great in supplying parking options when I contacted them in advance of stay. Also Basel is a car-free zone and serviced by trams; I’d request a room away from the main road if you are a light sleeper as they seem to run all night. If staying in Basel again, this would be my first choice.

A stylish hotel with great views from the terrace. Fitness centre was clean and had good equipment and a proper sauna (even for a Finn) and a steam room, too. Ate once at the Bohemia - lovely food and decor.

Ein Stadthotel, das zentral gelegen ist. Gute Einrichtung, sauber, schoenes Restaurant direkt anbei, vieles zu Fuss erreichbar. Nachteil ist, es gibt nur eine Parkmoeglichkeit in einer oeffentlichen Parkgarage, die aber direkt um die Ecke ist.

This was an amazing hotel. Although an old building, it has been thoroughly modernized. The room was very spacious, the king bed was super comfortable and even the pillows were good. A nice perk is the sauna and steam room available at no extra cost. The attached hotel restaurant was good - we had a nice lunch there. Be forewarned that Switzerland is expensive and restaurant dining and taxis may be way more than expected. Luckily, the hotel is situated in a shopping district where a supermarket, open markets, takeaway and bakeries are readily available for more cost-effective dining options. Highly recommeneded

Loved everything about this hotel. The hotel was convenient to shopping, restaurants, transportation and groceries. Rooms had a nice lay out and were a good size. Every hotel staff member we encountered were helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend this hotel without any reservations.

This hotel is exceptional! I really loved my stay here. Our room was really clean and big. The location is conveniently located in the heart of the city. We were able to just walk to to the Christmas market locations in Münsterplatz and Barfusserplatz. The hotel staffs were really nice and very helpful. There is also a very good restaurant on the first level called Bohemia. I would definitely recommend this place.

Not only was our room super clean and comfortable, but the staff truly is the shining star. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and will assist you with any help you need - from finding where your riverboat is docked to helping you with finding but eventually replacing your lost phone. Will be highly recommending Hotel Marthof to friends and will return. Cannot thank them enough!

We stayed for 5 nights and it was fantastic. Big thanks to Samuel at the front desk for making it extra special. Room was extremely comfortable - shower and bathroom super clean. Spa was nice during the cold of the winter. Included breakfast was very good but could have used a little bit more variety. Service was solid - whenever we ordered anything, it arrived minutes later. And location is unbeatable - walking distance to everything and trains readily available a block away.

The Hotel Marthof is lovely, clean and very well located. The breakfast is very nice. It is right over a tramline so it is not quiet. Our Signature room on the 5th floor was very warm but once we opened the window it was noisy. Loved the candy bar at checkout.

Great location, very clean, great internet access, very friendly and accommodating staff. A little noisy due to the tram and although they state it has air conditioning, it's in the pipes in the walls, so the room does not get cool if it's hot.

Very nice and comfortable hotel right in the heart of old Basel. The staff was awsome, super friendly, fluent in english. Breakfast was perfect, lots of options. Our junior suite was great. The bed, pillows and comforter were super confi. Overall a great stay worthy of a return trip in the future.

Not only was our room super clean and comfortable, but the staff truly is the shining star. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and will assist you with any help you need - from finding where your riverboat is docked to helping you with finding but eventually replacing your lost phone. Massimo at the front desk, was excellent and extremely helpful at check-in and throughout the day. The room we booked, a corner room within one of the turrets, was fabulous. The service in the restaurant, as well as the food, was excellent.

Very close to Marks Plaza, the bridge, tram/transit pass included [good idea], short trip to train station Basel SSB, 4 or 14. Free borrowing of umbrellas, very close to farmers market [mornings]. All of Swiss-land is expensive

This was an amazing hotel. From the time we were greeted to the time we left. They helped us with renting E-Bikes and gave us a map. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The restaurant and breakfast in the morning was wonderful. I would highly recommend staying there.

Loved this stay. The breakfast buffet is amazing and the staff was very informative about restaurant and helpful in making reservations. Bonus, the tram runs right by the hotel and in addition to flavored water in the lobby there was a small selection of Haribo gummies, so yummy!

Lovely hotel in the heart of town. Great service all around and front desk staff extremely helpful. Room and bathroom clean. Room well equipped to charge all electronics. Only used restaurant for breakfast; both buffet and a la carte choices were good. Nice bar area. Would definitely stay again for all these reasons.

The hotel is in a central location, just a short walk from the Rhein and lots of shops and dining. Our room is immaculate, attractive, and well-outfitted with eco-friendly features, an excellent shower, and comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel restaurant served a delicious buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, cheeses, freshly-baked breads and croissants, etc. Our stay has been delightful!

If you are visiting Basel the Marthof is the perfect choice. Charm, location, clean, spacious rooms. Close to everything and most tours start from here in the area for convenience or a short 10 min walk. Restaurants galore from all varieties and cultures. The staff is excellent. The breakfast is buffet wonderful. I promise you will love it!

The staff was wonderful. They gave us directions, explanations of how the hotel and rooms features woked, greeted us with smiles and held on to items left in our room. Ivan in the restaurant fixed us sazerac!
