Private Apt with backyard

Highly recommend Such a great property! My dog enjoyed exploring the huge fenced in backyard (and also discovered the doggy door into Jerry’s home — sorry again!) Host was kind and communicative. Guesthouse has everything you would need. We had a quiet and comfortable stay with 2 adults and one very large dog!

Semi steep walkway to get into backyard but being able to park in the driveway made it nice to unload our belongings. Quiet neighborhood. Jerry was quick to respond with a check in misunderstanding we had. Would highly recommend!

I was very comfortable staying in This little cottage. It was tastefully decorated while also providing all the basic necessities. A stacking washer and dryer in the unit was a bonus . Owners were very nice and responded quickly to a few questions that I had..

The location offers safe off street parking in a residential neighborhood. The room itself is in safe fenced in quiet back yard and offers everything you need. It has a kitchen. Nice size bathroom and a large TV. This is much better than a hotel and for less money.

The cottage is tiny, but it had everything we needed--a comfortable bed and a lovely shower. Everything was spic and span; there were ample linens plus extras; the HVAC was easy to operate and kept us comfortable. Loved the addition of a magnifying mirror in the bathroom! Kitchen amenities were just perfect. Would definitely stay there again!

Jerry was a very hospitable host, guest house was just as described, and has everything needed (and then some in case you forget something)! Bedding, pillows, and blankets are very soft and comfortable! He has a nice outdoor area to enjoy with a grill, a great fenced in backyard with mature landscape, and our furbaby loved it! Mini split unit kept us very cool and comfortable and was already running when we got there (it was in the high 90s outside)! Kitchen and bathroom are updated, and it's in a very quiet location! Aside from greeting us, we couldn't even tell Jerry was there! Thanks for sharing your guest home with us! We greatly appreciated it! 😁

Very well maintained and the place had everything you may need if you happened to forget something. Would recommend to anyone to stay. Loved their dog Henry lol.

This place is a small cottage in the back yard of a suburban home. The cottage is very small with a combined bedroom/kitchen and not much room to sit, but there is a large back yard for when the weather is good. The kitchen is limited, but there is an outdoor barbecue which we made use of. Jerry was easy to communicate with, and the price for the DC area was excellent. It would be difficult to stay here without a car.

Best Vrbo we've ever stayed at. Really good location, we were no more than 20 minutes from anywhere. Lodging - Bed was firm and comfortable, very clean and bright. Only downside was no stovetop, you hhave to cook on a gas grill.

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 fur kids & it was perfect! Jerry is an amazing host, friendly, welcoming, funny & thinking all about our & our pups comfort. His backyard is huge & beautiful! Our pups LOVED it & explored every inch. The cottage/apt. is completely stocked with everything you might need & set up so well! The bed is extremely comfortable! The home is located in a very quiet, safe, lovely area & very accessible to DC & Old Alexandria. We will definitely stay again on our next road trip to this area! Highly recommend Jerry & his wonderful home!

Convenient, clean and ideal for traveling with spirited pup.

Jerry was an excellent host! Apartment was cozy, heat and air was quick to warm and cool. Bed was super comfy. Very quiet surroundings. The apartment was very clean except for bathroom which might have been to a recent flooding, not completely terrible- the soft towels and great water pressure made up for this. Recommend.

Jerry was a very gracious host and the location was extremely convenient to Old Town Alexandria. The cottage bathroom has been nicely renovated and not as pictured in the listing. The bed is very comfortable and plenty big for one person. It was great being able to park in the driveway and the walkway to the cottage is nicely lit at night with motion activated lights. I did not have a problem finding the house via GPS as others have. The important thing to note is that the house is on Gentele Court and not Lane. My only complaint is that the cottage was not as clean as I would have expected. The fridge still had food crumbs, the toilet was seat and base of toilet dirty, and the floor in the cottage was in desperate need of sweeping and a good scrub. Overall, it was a good stay and highly recommended if you are traveling with your dog.

It was nice, my only exception was the walkway up to the backyard where the guesthouse was. I’m handicapped so that’s on me. Otherwise it was a pleasant little cottage. Maybe the front house could be a little more clearly marked, we had to go by twice to find it All in all it was very comfortable and quiet. We didn’t have much interaction with Jerry, but seemed very friendly and helpful. We were only there overnight.

We had business appointments in the area and stayed here two nights. Jerry, our landlord, could not possibly have been more kind, responsive, or charming. He and his equally kind wife, Susan, helped to make our stay perfect. The guest house is small. It would accommodate one person quite readily. We were fine with two adults and two dogs :), but we don't mind living in close quarters. There's a lovely bathroom, a little kitchenette, and a living/sleeping room with a very comfortable murphy bed and a very nice TV. Our dogs were happy (as were we) that the property has a large, fenced yard. We enjoyed our stay!

Check in was easy and got settled and then went to our event. It was very comfortable and warm. The shower pressure was amazing and hairdryer was great. Would stay there again.

Everything was wonderful. Owners were great. They communicated and answered any questions we had. We enjoyed our stay. If we ever get back to DC, we will try to use this VRBO again.

Our stay was fabulous. We meet the owners of the property and they were extremely nice, there 2 dogs are very good with people. We would definitely come again.

My wife and I booked the room for 8 nights paying hoping that it'd be like a motel property. But we're shocked and very upset when we found out that it's a separate room but part of the house sitting in the backyard. We also noticed the owner has dogs which would make it more noisy during our stay. We didn't stay there for even 10 minutes and requested the host for a cancellation. The host denied our request and suggested to contact the cancellation thru Expedia. In exchange, we even offered to pay for a half-day rent but still denied. Later, we contacted the Expedia/Vrbo and had a customer rep verbal chatting on the phone (using the speaker phone) with the host. Still no good. Neither the host nor the Expedia obliged our request. We had a long trip overseas before coming to this place so we're quite exhausted and frustrated. Also, somehow we also missed to add the cancellation warranty as part of the stay. We ended up forfeiting the entire 8 nights rent as we did not want to stay there at all. We decided never to use the host for any future stay! The moral of the story: Never make a reservation for such private location no matter how good it sounds Online comments until you have physically visited the site. Start the reservation with a day, if you like then, you can always extend it later but make sure to add the cancellation warranty. This way, you will only lose the 1 day rent at the worst and won't have to go through all the pain and hassle!!!

Everything was as described. We’re overslept a little bit so check out was at 10; I messaged Jerry and he told us all was good and to take our time. He was very nice and we really appreciated him letting us stay 30 minutes after check out. I recommend staying here!

our only issue came when there were two streets with similar names and we went to the wrong one....

only trouble we had was with GPS. It took us to a different place, and at 1am in the morning. Found out that there were two similar addresses and we were at the wrong one. Wished it were made known beforehand

Was a lovely place to stay with fenced yard for my dog to explore. Great, safe neighborhood with easy access to DC.

Good location to downtown Alexandria and for all our stops. Easy access to the freeway, making drive to Washington D.C. and Baltimore MD area convenient.
