Hotel Esplanade

I had an excellent stay at Hôtel Esplanade the first week of December for the Christmas Markets. The hotel was very conveniently located near a tram stop so that it was fast and easy to get down to the city center. More than that, it was a warm and quiet refuge to recover for the evening and at the end of the night. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There were two bars, two coffee shops, and a convenience store all within short walking distance. Would highly recommend!

The hotel was conveniently located to the university, just a minute or two from the Observatoire tram stop (direct connection C tram from the Gare Centrale train station). While no hot food, the breakfast buffet was full and fresh and good value, the room with panoramic windows had good light and outside air control, and tram sound was minimal with the windows closed. Bed comfort was average, just one chair to sit on with the desk. Everything was clean and all the personnel were exceptionally attentive, friendly and obliging. Luggage was readily stored before check-in time and after check-out. We were pleasantly surprised for the reasonable rate that there was nothing to complain about, so would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for visitors to Strasbourg. Although you do need tram or bus transportation to get to the center, major tourist attractions are not too far away,

All you could want from a hotel, BUT it's situated on a very busy and noisy crossroads. Ear plugs definitely needed as there's no soundproofing.
