Was a great hotel. Pretty close to everything. Staff has helpful maps for street parking if you have a car. Breakfast was very good, and probably saves you a lot of $$ eating at the hotel. Elevator was broken on our way out, but we were able to carry our bags down the stairs.

Clean room, great location but no parking which wasn’t ideal since we had a car - had to find street parking which wasn’t easy. For walking it was great, right in the middle of everything. Best breakfast had in Iceland.

We really loved our stay at the Sand Hotel. The room was quiet and perfect for the two of us. The breakfast was sublime. We even tried their next door bakery outside of breakfast hours. Definitely give that a try too. The only downside to the Sand Hotel was parking. We were tired after our flight and did not prepare for parking. That added a little stress to our visit. So, plan ahead, understand the parking options, and you’ll be in good shape.

The Sand hotel was great - SO centrally located, we could walk everywhere from our hotel, and the hotel bar was cute and convenient on a cold night. Breakfast was GREAT and the staff were very professional and extremely nice. Our room even had a little balcony - so cute! Spacious and extremely clean and convenient. We would stay there again for sure.

Located right in the main shopping district, the Sand Hotel has a great location. Their service is also wonderful as they let us check in super early. They went above and beyond. Their gym is also decent.

Wonderful stay. Quiet hotel despite being on the main street. Small but comfortable room. Very clean. Close to shopping and dining, not far from bus stops for tours and the public bus. Lovely Icelandic breakfast included. Would definitely stay again!

The location of the hotel is very lovely, as it is central to many activities in Reykjavik. The breakfast is lovely. Upon arrival we were surprised to learn that there was no parking at the hotel and felt that this is vital information that should be conveyed to guests before arrival. We received no information about how to park near the hotel prior to arriving. We noted 2 things we wish to share: 1. There was no place in the bathroom to hang towels once they had been used. Clean towels were on a small bar to the side of the toilet, but once used, there was no place to put the towel to dry. This seems counterintuitive to efforts to encourage guests to re-use towels. 2. We noted an odor in our room every day, a smell consistent with off-gassing from sewer pipes. When we brought this to the attention of front desk staff by inquiring if the hotel was having a problem with the drainage system, we were told that this would be looked into. Upon revisiting this with the front desk, we were told "this was investigated and there was nothing wrong". However we noted that in all the hallways on our wing there were diffusers on display to create a flowery smell. Following our inquiry, a diffuser was place outside of our room to further mask the unpleasant odor. At a 4 star hotel, it is disappointing to be told that "nothing is wrong" when a valid question is posed. Initially we were told we could move rooms, but this was not offered following their "investigation".

Clean and comfortable and the staff was wonderful. Great location made walking to shops and restaurants easy. Excellent breakfast buffet made us look forward to breakfast! Inviting lobby and an overall terrific choice for our group of friends in multiple rooms.

Everything abou this hotel was great! Room was small, but expect that in Europe, but we were surprised at the lack of storage. Pretty much just a small area to hang clothes and a shelf underneath you can put your suitcase and just take your cothes from there. The breakfast was very good...no hot options, but we knew that. The location is amazing, right in the middle of the pedestrian street.

This was our second stay at this property. The location is perfect! Situated right on the main walking street- step out of the hotel and you are right there!! Can be noisy at night if your room faces the street. Rooms are on the smaller side, but very comfortable and clean, only slight signs of wear and tear, but nothing that would keep me from staying there again. Staff is friendly. Breakfast buffet is good, limited options, but just enough. The seating is a bit tight, and my only complaint is the staff starts to take food away before the buffet ends- so you do feel a bit rushed to eat, they do not mess around to get you out, so keep this in mind if you are the type that shows up late to breakfast! There is a great bakery/cafe right next to the hotel "Sandholt", so this is also an option, and I do highly recommend this place. Parking is a challenge if you have a rental car. There is a parking garage about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is not super convenient, and not cheap, but it serves its purpose. The hotel allowed us to park our car behind the hotel for a few minutes the day we checked out so we did not have to drag our bags to the parking garage, so this was very nice! If it is your first time in Reykjavik and you will have a rental car, I highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the city parking situation- there are a few apps you can download, we used "Parka". Overall, I highly recommend Sand Hotel- I will for sure stay there again next year.

Nice amenities in the hotel. Great continental breakfast with breads from bakery next door. The hotel does not have air conditioning and it was warm in the room and only one tiny window opens slightly so not enough air but plenty of noise from the street. Bathroom is also very small.

The staff go above and beyond to help. Breakfast was fantastic. I could eat the smoked salmon, mountain berries, and croissants everyday. We were also able to walk to all of the restaurants we ate at. Hotel is on a pedestrian street, but we did not rent a car, we took taxies where we wanted to go, as well as booked sightseeing day trips on busses. Do not miss the black beach.

Front desk service is very good, giving guide to sightseeing, responding to requests and questions efficiently. Good breakfast, clean room and environment. My husband needs to take medicines with warm water, I asked for a water container for hot water, the front desk girl offered us a bottle, very caring to help out, thank you. I also asked for wake up call for our early flight, the gentleman called at 6:00am. Everything was well done!

First of all, the staff is very helpful and friendly...a big shout out to Liam at the front desk. He was excellent. Nice breakfast... healthy with a good variety of options. Parking is not easy but there is a place behind where you can unload your luggage. Then the tricky part is finding parking around. Download the Parka app... very helpful.

Excellent staff, service and location. Leka was extremely helpful, very kind and friendly. He was very patient answering all of our many questions and made excellent suggestions about tours and nearby restaurants. He even stayed late, after his shift was over to help with booking a tour. He went above and beyond in customer service and always greeted us with a smile. Made our stay exceptional. Would highly recommend this hotel
Excellent staff, service and location. Leka was extremely helpful, very kind and friendly. He was very patient answering all of our many questions and made excellent suggestions about tours and nearby restaurants. He even stayed late, after his shift was over to help with booking a tour. He went above and beyond in customer service and always greeted us with a smile. Made our stay exceptional. Would highly recommend this hotel

Perfect location for exploring downtown Reykjavik. Very stylish hotel with nicely appointed rooms and comfortable beds. Hotel is located on a pedestrian street so you need to walk a block or so for parking/taxi and a few blocks for the bust stops (but it's very easy walking). Staff are exceptionally helpful and knowledgable. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay her and would stay again. It is in the heart of downtown on a non-drivable section of the downtown. This makes it a little difficult re luggage loading/unloading but the hotel is well worth any minor inconvenience. Being downtown, especially weekends, it can be a little noisy if you retire early. But again, such a great hotel and so accessible to everything in Reykjavik city.

The location is terrific for exploring the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming and ready to help with any questions. We found the breakfast to be just what we needed and appreciated the ginger shot and smoothies. There’s a bit of street noise at night so if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs or they have some at the front desk. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

Great location. Centre of all the tourist stuff and in line with all the shops. The hotel was comfortable, clean, warm and helpful with suggestions. Breakfast was healthy and available if leaving early in the morning. It was peaceful and a very enjoyable stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful during our stay. The breakfast buffet offered a large variety of foods and everything was fresh. The hotel's location was ideal for walking around Reykjavik. It is close to everything. The rooms we had were small but had lovely amenities. We would recommend the Sand Hotel and we would stay here again.

Fantastic location as it was central and within easy walking distance to the bus stop and station. Room was quiet, clean and bed was comfortable. Facilities for making a morning coffee available in the room which is always an added bonus first thing on waking. Breakfast was varied but missed having something hot! Staff were welcoming and friendly. Reception staff were really helpful too.

This was our second stay at this property. The location is perfect! Situated right on the main walking street- step out of the hotel and you are right there!! Can be noisy at night if your room faces the street. Rooms are on the smaller side, but very comfortable and clean, only slight signs of wear and tear, but nothing that would keep me from staying there again. Staff is friendly. Breakfast buffet is good, limited options, but just enough. The seating is a bit tight, and my only complaint is the staff starts to take food away before the buffet ends- so you do feel a bit rushed to eat, they do not mess around to get you out, so keep this in mind if you are the type that shows up late to breakfast! There is a great bakery/cafe right next to the hotel "Sandholt", so this is also an option, and I do highly recommend this place. Parking is a challenge if you have a rental car. There is a parking garage about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is not super convenient, and not cheap, but it serves its purpose. The hotel allowed us to park our car behind the hotel for a few minutes the day we checked out so we did not have to drag our bags to the parking garage, so this was very nice! If it is your first time in Reykjavik and you will have a rental car, I highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the city parking situation- there are a few apps you can download, we used "Parka". Overall, I highly recommend Sand Hotel- I will for sure stay there again next year.

The property is ideally located to many restaurants and attractions. There was a minor amount of street noise from pedestrians late at night which we could hear with the windows open, but it was a sunny weekend so I don’t begrudge them enjoying themselves!

Great location surrounded by restaurants and shops. An easy walk to the church. Room was comfortable and quiet. Staff was helpful. Drapery blocked the sun, which rose around 4:00am. One of the best bakeries is next door. In the pedestrian zone so no car noise.

The location of the hotel is excellent - center of the city and close to all. It is clean and comfortable, but the bathroom is not a user-friendly. The sink is tiny with a tall faucet that is in the middle, it's hard to use the sink because you can not fit your face on either side of faucet. On top of this, there is no shelf to even put a toothbrush on.
