Very cozy, clean and comfortable place. The breakfast was like heaven on earth. I'm still dreaming of that tuna salad with pepper. They have boardgames which was a nice surprise. Highly recommend.

I just checked out of Bru Country Estate and I’m sad to be leaving after just one night. This place is wonderful. The property is tucked away on a nice piece of land with beautiful views. When I approached the building to check in, I was greeted by three friendly and adorable dogs— just what I needed to bring a smile to my face after a day of driving. Upon entering the main house, I immediately felt at home. Ro checked me in and was very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance in here is so warm and cozy. The decor is eclectic, the candlelight soothing, the temperature warm (lovely coming in from the Icelandic wind), and the music relaxing. I enjoyed reading and journaling in the main common spaces with a glass of wine, occasionally tossing a toy duck for one of these cute dogs. I also took advantage of the homemade dinner buffet, which was the best meal I’d had in a long time—absolutely delicious. The mushroom soup and cod casserole were my favorites— credits to the chef! My cabin for the evening was a basic one and a bit chilly for my tastes (to be fair, I get cold easily so it was probably fine for normal people). I slept so great, though, that I slept straight through breakfast! I was still able to get coffee though, and that’s the most important part:) Staying here has been my favorite part of my trip and I’ll be staying here again if I return to Iceland. Thank you, Bru Country Estate, for such a peaceful and relaxing stay!

Staff was friendly and attentive, lounge was inviting and comfortable, breakfast was varied and delicious. Room was comfortable. We were closest to the lounge (room 1) and we did hear some of the music (on a Saturday night, after an event) until nearly 11, but it was super quiet from that point on, and we had no problem getting to sleep. Would stay here again!

Lovely tranquil and quaint place to stay. Adored sitting in the outdoor hot tub watching the stars. Our host was very friendly and enjoyed his company at breakfast.

The property is a typical, warm and friendly country inn, nestled on the outskirts of Thingvellir National Park. It is an easy drive to many amazing natural landmarks including Thingvellir, Silfra Fissure, Geysir, Gullfoss waterfall, Secret Lagoon thermal springs, and much more. The included breakfast was excellent, as was the buffet dinner they offered in their restaurant. We stayed two nights and saw the aurora from the parking lot both nights. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This property was clean and quaint, with its own quirky touch. The room was clean and quiet, and the beds were very comfortable! The breakfast that is included was homemade and had quite the spread of different options! We got the buffet dinner for an extra charge, and it was worth it! The chef really did a great job with everything she prepared. I would definitely stay here again!

A wonderful spot. We saw the Northern Lights from the driveway- perfect viewing! The rooms were basic and clean. The reception area was lovely and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. A lovely place to stop over.

Room was very small. I personally don’t like wet bathrooms where the shower soaks the entire bathroom.

Nous avons séjourné deux nuits. Nous avions volontairement pris une chambre plus grande pour 3 personnes afin d’avoir une grande chambre mais on nous a mis dans une petite chambre de 2 avec lits séparés. Lnequipe de l’hôtel a été très bien et nous a mis dans une autre chambre plus grande cette fois pour 5 personnes. Mais la chambre sentait fort l’humidité? La lumière extérieure reste allumée toute la nuit et comme les rideaux ne ferment pas bien cela a été gênant. Petit conseil il faudrait réparer la voiturée car quand il pleut c’est très bruyant. Sinon le lieu est sympa au calme et les épicées communes décorée avec goût. Je vous conseil de demander les chambres extérieures mais à l’étage au sous sol c’est moyen.

Was offered room 20 which smelt of raw sewage, was a dark grim concrete room with a poor view. This was supposedly sold as a quadruple room. Given the time of day we chose to accept a smaller double room rather than move to an alternative hotel however I am surprised at the level of such positive reviews. I would not recommend

I was looking forward to our stay at the Bru Country Estate with great anticipation based on reviews of the hotel. Unfortunately, during our stay, it did not live up to its reviews. The facility was not full when we stayed and yet they gave us a room at the far end of the hall by the noise-making water heater for the hot tub. This heater, apparently, did not provide hot water to our room as our water was ice cold in the shower. After running it for quite a while, we inquired at the desk. They did some adjustment, but the shower was only tepid, which was definitely cold for me. We were told bluntly that “it is what it is,” which is terrible customer service. Strangely the sink had hot water, following the adjustment. Also, at the end of the hall, the Wifi was useless, going in and out constantly. The room was basic at best with a very small bathroom. A new mattress and basic renovation would be beneficial. There was a handicapped shower bench sticking out from under the sink, which was annoying but handy, because the glass shelf at the bottom of our mirror hung at a 30 degree angle, rendering it useless. Our view out the large windows of our room was onto two ugly, large trash heaps. I understand that the heaps may belong to another property, but really, Bru? On a positive note, the included breakfast and the optional dinner buffet were nice. The front of the facility looks nice and the public area in the lobby and dining room are nicely furnished with bric-a-br

My fiancé and I stayed at this charming hotel during our trip to Iceland, and it truly felt like a home away from home. The location was perfect—close enough to the Golden Circle and southern Iceland's top attractions, making it easy to explore. The breakfast was delicious, and the chef was exceptionally kind, always making us feel welcome. The atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. Every night, we felt like we were returning to a peaceful retreat. One of the highlights was definitely seeing the Northern Lights from the backyard—such an unforgettable experience! And the pets! The hotel had both dogs and cats, but surprisingly, there was no pet smell at all. There was also adorable Icelandic horses that love pets in a short walking distance. It was incredibly clean, so you'd never know there were animals around, except for the adorable Mia, the best cat receptionist, who always greeted us with a warm and welcoming presence. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to experience Iceland in comfort and warmth!

Terrible smell from heating and from bathroom, either mold or sewer gas. No Aurora wake up service. Concrete floors, walls, like a remodeled prison. No thermostat yet no screens on windows if you want any ventilation. Nice people though with great food places to visit recommendations

Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit toller Einrichtung, wie bei Omi zu Hause :-) So schön das Haupthaus auch ist, so spartanisch sind dann leider die Zimmer. Kalte Betonwände und Böde, sehr industrial, wenig gemütlich leider Die Umgebung ist toll, wenn man Glück hat kann man Nordlichter sehen. Frühstück war sehr lecker und ausreichend vorhanden

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Brú Country Estate. The suite was comfortable, and we especially loved the cozy lobby, where we spent much time reading our books. The breakfast service was good as well. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Iceland.

Nice hotel, my room was spacious with nice comfortable furnishings and a nice patio overlooking the lake. Didn’t get a chance to try the food there but there are dining options weighing driving distance. Hot tubs were a bit tricky to get to and I got strange and somewhat unfriendly vibes from the staff that checked me in that I found concerning as a solo female traveler, therefore would avoid returning here.

Eclectic style common areas with curiosities and a wide range of artworks; a bohemian vibe in the lounge and common dining areas whereas the bedrooms themselves were stylish modern and sleek. The contrast made it quirky and fun place to stay, great location for exploring the national park and visiting Gullfoss and Gysir

Noisy. Did not sleep at all!! Banging on the wall… I think they are fixing the room next to us!!! Very loud!

The main building is brilliantly decorated, I love the vibe of the place. The staff is similarly very kind. I arrived on the wrong day, and they were able to fit me in, which I was incredibly grateful for. One negative however is the room I received, being on a lower level I heard stomping from above often (until the evening), and the walls were relatively thin (I could hear a coughing neighbour quite a bit). Despite that, I still slept well and enjoyed my stay. Would go again (if I could avoid rooms on that level).

The hotel have an unique decorations however was lack of service. If you don't buy the dinner you can't use the room because is for the guest who buy the dinner. We already dinner before check in and ask for coffee and hot chocolate and the staff tell us they can't sale us coffee or hot chocolate. The room need an renovation also the hall floor cracking like crazy and you feel like was inside your room. The breakfast offer is really limited. I think they can do it better.

The view is spectacular, the staff is non existent, no one at the desk ever. The dinner and breakfast were odd. Decor was very eclectic, the Icelandic sheep dogs Notta and Crema were the highlight. The owner has a nice idea, but get involved, meet the guests if you serve homestyle meals, and please put out Caution Signs for the Ice, parking lot was a sheet of ice. Missed our snowmobile tour due to massive spill in the ice. Yikes!

My electric adapter stopped working, but the staff was incredibly kind to lend me his own adapter. He also brought me a slice of pie while I was charging my computer. Very kind and accommodating. The homemade pie was excellent!

Overall was a pleasant stay. Receptionist was kind to give us a room at the main building as it was snowing outside & we had many luggages - thank you! The hotel has a homely feel. Improvements to breakfast will be helpful i.e. having bowls (for granola/yogurt), bacons or maybe improving display/presentation overall (more tables vs 1 main dining table), muesli/granola may add some add-ons like cashew nuts/dried apricots/raisins/etc. min 2 fruits variety, etc. Room’s socket to place above table will be great so we don’t have to bend down be ideal. Thank u once again & love the dogs at the hotel. They were well trained & friendly. Think that was the best part of the stay to have one greeting us when we arrived!

The host who greeted us and cooked dinner was so lovely and hospitable. We only took dinner the one night (but wish we had done both) because it was incredible and delicious! The rooms were also very comfortable and the lounge area and restaurant were spacious and charming. What a gem! We'd love to stay again one day

Quiet sorroundings, charming and rustique Hotel, beautiful and inviting Lobby with a lovely Hotel-Cat! They provide a breakfast buffet and an evening buffet

Splendidly remote yet perfectly placed for all the glories of the Golden Circle. The rooms were clean and tidy and big enough (some more plug sockets or an extension cable would be great!). The public areas are delightfully furnished and dressed with an eclectic collection of furniture pictures and ornaments. The dining room is an especially pleasure with vintage un-matching china and cutlery, a lovely selection of chairs and tables. Dinner is a great buffet of hot dishes and salads, a soup to start and a dessert, all home made from scratch and all the better for that. Breakfast is similarly varied and comprehensive. It all suited us very well indeed and its is easy to recommend

Spent a couple nights here. Rooms were simple, private and included everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was great to kicking of our day. Location was perfect for experiencing the Golden Circle. And although we did not see any, this seemed like a fantastic place to catch the northern lights. Away from any downtown area, the sky was clear and stars were bright.

Great location for our planned itinerary. The warm and vibe of the place really set the tone for our trip to Iceland. We stayed three nights and ate at the hotel twice. Compared to the other local offering the food was excellent value for money. The hot dish of soup after a cold day on the mountains was just heaven washed down with glasses of draft Gull. Because of the remote location Bru was perfect to see the Nothern Lights from lower down the drive. The bed was extremely comfortable and the free breakfast Continental buffet was plentiful to pack you up for a busy day out. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well for three nights we were there. We are hoping that this is not an only chance to at Bru. Wonderful find.

This property is set back off the main road a bit but the scenery is breathtaking. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The food was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay very much.
