Clarion Hotel Mestari

Stayed here for a few days and it was pretty flawless. I'm a light sleeper - I need darkness and quiet. My room was lovely and quiet, and dark until mid-morning, so I was happy. Bed was comfy. Room was well-designed for up to 2 people to stay without being too squishy. Location is good - it's a short tram ride to the train station, and about a 15 minute walk to the harbour. Shopping centres are abundant within a 5-10 minute walk. Service was typically Finnish; pleasant but austere. Breakfast was delightful - huge range of options. The gym was wel-equipped but can probably only accommodate a dozen people at peak times. Honestly, I'd happily stay here again. And I'm normally pretty fussy.

Nice hotel but design is a bit cold… and no free sauna access.

Well-located. Breakfasts are inclusive and there's a lot of choice, from fresh made smoothies to full cooked. Bed was comfortable and room very clean. Helpful staff. My only gripe is with the management as regards sauna hours: men get to go early and late (pre and post work), women can only go in work hours. And considering most people staying there seemed to be on business, as I was, and there were plenty of women there besides me, I found this pretty offensive. So I never got to use the sauna. I discussed this with reception who said 'you're not the first woman who's made this complaint'. So why don't management change it?!

It was fine. However the strict sauna and bar times don’t add up to a good experience. There should be more flexible and reasonable times for sauna.

Fint hotell med god standard. Synd sauna har begrenset åpningstid og under renevasjon en av dagene under mitt opphold. Hyggelig betjening og praktisk fint bad.

I was in Helsinki with my partner over Christmas '23 visiting family and looking forward to a cosy retreat. Looking at the Mestari description online I thought I found a nice new boutique hotel in central Helsinki with a sauna. I was mistaken. What I found was a poorly designed and executed conference hotel with some extremely questionable theming and almost comically disengaged staff. The restaurant is a Finnish / Latin concept ... no one has ever asked for this and they shouldn't because its clearly a very bad idea in this case executed very badly. Lingonberry BBQ sauce ???. Also deeply expensive even for Helsinki. The theme of the hotel is "master builders" so they use the 1932 picture of workmen sitting on a steel girder in New York repeatedly ad nassuem everywhere. Its stupid irrelevant childish and overused. Industrial chic is hard to pull off, Mestari didnt. There were categorically no master builders used in the building of this interior. The hotel is clearly run on a budget, everything is cheap and there are very few amenities, when I tried to get the TV in our room fixed twice I was met with incredulity and absolutely no apology or attempt to fix it. The worst though, the motivation for my rant and the thing that I couldn't get over was the sauna. Sauna is of course a cultural necessity in Finland and very welcome in -17. The sauna at Mestari costs SEVENTY FIVE EUROS. Utter madness. This place is a crap rip off, go anywhere else

Meu único ponto de não satisfação foi em relação ao serviço de housekeeping, pois só retiravam o lixo do banheiro. Nenhum dia foi feita a cama, nem reposto toalhas e papel higiênico.

The hotel is in a good location and is modern with good facilities, including a gym and sauna. The breakfast is also very good too. The only downside was that my room wasn't as clean as I expected when I checked in (crumbs on sofa and toilet not very clean).

Hotel was in an excellent location, close to public transport. Yet it was surprisingly quiet. Rooms were clean and of well design. The morning breakfast was excellent with lots of options some Finnish breakfast staples. Very pleased with our stay here!

作りが独特で部屋があるフロアの廊下に階段があったためスーツケースや荷物が多いと少し運びにくかった 部屋は思っていたより広くてきれいでしたが前の方のごみが残っていたり、朝起きたらエアコンから水が出てきたのか床がかなり濡れていた 朝食は豪華でした

バルコニー付きの部屋を手配していたのですが、なんの説明もなく違う部屋で、眺望のない部屋を用意されました。 この滞在は日本に帰国する前の最後のホテルでした。窓からの景色を楽しみにしていたので残念でした。 予約は入っていたようですが、チェックインに時間がかかっていたので何か不備があったと思われます。 用意された部屋は予備ルームのようで清掃が少し行き届いていませんでした。 広くてベッドも快適でしたので今回は我慢しましたが、帰国後いろいろな方に話したら、フロントと交渉した方が良かったと言われました。 これからはどこのホテルを利用する時も、予約した内容と用意された部屋があっているのか確認し、違う場合はホテルにお伝えします。 すべてのスタッフとホテルの対応は、チェックインの時以外は良かったです。 朝食は美味しくメニューも豊富でした。 カンピエリアの観光には便利な立地です。 ヘルシンキ中央駅からは少し歩きます。 石畳や段差が多いので、20kgのスーツケースをお持ちの方は気をつけてください。

We had a room that overlooked the inside of the hotel (the dining area, which was unique, but you definitely need to remember to close those curtains otherwise everyone can see into your room. The curtains were blackout so no issue with light or noise. The decor was very industrial, which we loved and the room very comfortable. The room was compact, but suited us for what we needed. There is no desk if that is important to you. The bathroom was great! Huge shower and no mould, etc. The breakfast was fantastic - tacos and churros were unique options as well as the usual hot and cold breakfast options you'd expect. We also had an evening meal and cake from the cafe and these were delicious too. Our only complaints were around the servicing of the room. They did not replace tea and milk in the room each day so we had to take them from breakfast. They also didn't replace our cups - they took them away, but didn't leave replacements, so again, a trip to reception to ask for more. They also didn't wipe the surfaces in the room as there were still ring marks from drinks. If not for this, we'd have happily given 5 stars.

Very quiet and well designed

Hotel is newish and had an unusual smell - from the hallway carpet maybe? No closet or drawers for clothes in basic hotel room- it had some hangers. Room was not cleaned the first day- perhaps due to a miscommunication with the staff, but still. Breakfast was pretty good, but I had better elsewhere in Helsinki. Good central location but a bit far too walk with luggage from the central bus station.

Part of the standart rooms doesn’t have a windows outside but facing the inside/lobby/restaurant of the hotel. Im not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, at least I missed it. I didn't mind it that much but I needed to keep my curtains closed all the time. Staff were bit stiff but friendly.

Stylish hotel within 10 minute or so walk from Helsinki Central station. Check in was a breeze - very quick and friendly and helpful staff - we were given a room upgrade when checking in. Spacious and comfortable room with good bed and nice bathroom. Very good breakfast with plenty of coffee dispensers which is always a bonus in a busy breakfast room. Only slight downside was lack of storage space in the room. Also no bedside table - always handy when one wears glasses. Otherwise an excellent hotel and would definitely stay again if I was back in Helsinki.

Basic hotel with good location. We stayed at loft room couple of nights. Loft "living room" was the reason for our booking. Our room was tight and there were no closet. Bathroom was spacious and had a tub.

Breakfast was great. However, the staff were not very friendly and their service could be improved.

The hotel needs to accommodate flexibility in their operations and the staff must learn how to communicate in general, not necessarily with customers, but with people in general. The hotel has nice facilities and good breakfast. But these are not that important to compare operational flexibility and basic communication capabilities. There was no desk space in the room, and I asked (1) either to change to a room with a desk (2) or to bring in what something to be used as a simple desk. They said that I have to pay 20 Euro to change to a room with a (small, tiny) desk. I refuse to pay any extra as I paid already for more than 150 euro. I asked to bring something I can use as a desk to use my laptop. They say they can not do those kinds of operations at all!! (They do not know that a virtue of service is the flexibility and the customization mindset). All these communications were done in a very unpleasant manner. Then a different service provider joined in and she used the same very unpleasant tone of saying that they will offer a room with a desk free of extra charge. Very, very unpleasant tone was still firmly kept. In the room I moved to, there was a tiny desk with a stool, that may weight about 10 kg. I do not understand why they could not move in this tiny desk to my original room. What if I demanded that they must provide a basic amenity of a desk for a guest for business purpose? What if I paid 20 euro extra as the receptionist asked?

I really like the hotel but the one in the desk 14/12 make me know for sure I will never come back. Good luck with staff like that. So disappointed, I thought I found a hotel for me being in Helsinki like every two weeks

Pessima accoglienza all'arrivo. La camera executive che avevo prenotato non aveva finestra nella camera da letta: SENZA FINESTRA, una cella praticamente. Ho dovuto fare il downgrade ad una camera di livello inferiore, perdendo 60€ in 2 notti e il ragazzo alla reception era anche scocciato. Poca gentilezza di tutto il personale in generale. Aria condizionata che non funzionava. Dopo segnalazione, hanno provato a sistemare, ma cmq non rinfrescava e sistema a/c vecchio senza possibilità di vedere temperatura effettiva della camera. Gli ascensori che non avevano la chiamata simultanea ma si doveva spingere tutti i pulsanti di chiamata...un sistema così vecchio non l'avevo mai visto. Colazione insufficiente. Non vale assolutamente i soldi che costa. Ci sono molti altri hotel, in zone migliori, che costano meno. (Vedi Scandic Hub)

Great location, nice and clean friendly staff.

We stayed 8 nights at the hotel and found definite pros and definite cons. Our room--one of the Engineer Loft rooms--was perfect: modern, stylish, comfortable and clean. The bed was super comfy & blackout curtains helped insure a good night's sleep. The breakfast buffet offered each morning was truly outstanding--a full array of Finnish delicacies (both savory and sweet). A great beginning to each day. The hotel is conveniently, centrally located (though I'd say almost anywhere in Helsinki is since it's so thoroughly walkable). Our complaints were almost exclusively due to the often absurdly unhelpful staff at reception. Example: We arrived on Sunday early evening and asked if they could provide a recco for dinner. They told us in that no restaurants were open on Sunday evenings--that our only option was to go to the nearby Kamppi mall for food court/fast food fare. We went there (ugh), sat outside for a beer and I looked online for "nearby restaurants." What do you know? There were TONS of great restaurants open. We called and reserved a table for 8 PM at Kultá Kitchen and bar--a lovely and delicious fine-dining venue for traditional Finnish food. Over the next days, we made a point of looking at the dinner hours posted on restaurants all over town. SO many open on Sundays. Same level of non-assistance with renting bicycles and other minor requests. Net: if you need concierge/travel assistance, this is not your hotel.

Great location for a visit to Helsinki. 15 minute walk to major shopping and the waterfront. Many dining options close by. Hotel breakfast was plentiful with numerous options. Stayed five nights in July. Would stay again.

Great time had. The breakfast was great, room was lovely and clean and amazing facilities.

The hotel is located in the center of Helsinki and you can reach all Highlights of Helsinki by feet. It has a great interior Design and the breakfast offer was large and tasty, only egg dishes were cold at the Buffet. when we checked in, there was a long que at the reception and we had to wait 30 minutes and we think it could be done faster from the staff, but these are only two small critical points.

Very good location and beautiful clean hotel. Breakfast was disappointing for us, because of the lack of gluten free options. No fresh bread or pastries. Excellent Saturday breakfast, if you are not coeliac. Otherwise we can recommend this hotel.

Brand new hotel with elegant design. They serve a Spanish style buffet breakfast/brunch from 7:30 to 1pm (!). Try also their Master Sandwich for 8 euros in the lobby café - delicious and huge!
