Lovely cabin and facilitys only downside the room could do with air conditioning

These are lovely little rooms for a couple of nights - really nicely decorated and feel really intimate and cosy. The parking is a short walk (pebbles, so roller cases are a bit of a pain) but convenient enough. Property is a short walk from an absolutely beautiful beach.

Garden rooms were quirky but the decor is dark & drab. Concrete grey effect walls & ceilings ? Not sure about that Could be very good but needs more attention to detail. The hot tub’s water was minging !!! Reception in the car park for garden rooms is a bit odd. Staff were friendly. Breakfast at sister premises The Joiners Arms was excellent

We had a one night stay in a garden room with a hot tub. The room was very nice but did feel a little cold with just plain black walls/ceiling. The room could do with more plug sockets. The blinds in the bathroom were mouldy as they dropped in to the shower tray, there was also mould in the grout in the shower. The outside area where the hot tub is could do with some work, the garden area was untidy and it would be nice to have some more privacy with more bushes etc for using the hot tub. The hot tub was also not overly warm. Nice stay but for the price I expected more!

Pleasant pod in nice gardens but no bar or dining in site and a lot of rubbish ‘hidden’ around the property. Next to a static caravan park which you must walk through to reach the pub where you have to go for a drink or to eat. Beach is a short drive away not realistically a walk as indicated.

Room let down by various avoidable maintenance issues. Was also unable to use the hot tub in the morning as the water had drained away overnight.

Room was modern and staff were friendly. Upon checkin, previous guests linen, empty prosecco bottles and rubbish were left at the front of the property for an hour after we got the keys. Room was spacious and modern. Bed was large and comfy. There was a lot of mould and grime around the shower, black mould near the toilet and the bathroom had a musty smell which made the room feel dirty. Lots of hairs on the floor from previous guests. Robes and slippers however were a nice touch! We lost power at 9pm for almost 3 hours and therefore we couldn’t use the hot tub or do anything in the property. There was no mention of this upon checkout and we felt disappointed. We paid a lot for this room to be able to not make use of it for the majority of the night, and we felt let down by no aftercare from the hotel employees.

When we arrived the complimentary water bottles had been opened and one was 1/4 empty. The area around the hot tub had the previous guests wine cork and rubbish left on the floor . The hot tub lid was obviously broken and the hot tub was filled to the brim so it overflowed everywhere and our slippers were soaked ! But most annoying is the fact that either due to this or the kid not being closed it was not hot at all rather than just warm ! I couldn’t sit in it and this was the sole purpose of our reason to stay ! The staff were lovely though and the bed comfy, with a bit of TLC I am sure they could be lovely again but our room was just all a bit tired ! And for a much needed break very disappointing!

Met with a friendly greeting despite the bustle of a wedding event . Given directions to pod . Stayed in a family pod which wasnt really what i exoected as it wasnt detached . Hot tub was luke warm and murky , i did make the mistake of thinking it would be a jacuzzi . Door frame fell off as opened door . No fire pit. Garden not fenced in . And a walk to joiners arms for breakfast , breakfast not on site. Communication was good however feel over priced for what you get.

They’re a bit crammed in to the site, poorly maintained, and not very clean. Ours had a chipped kitchen sink, a small blood stain on the bathroom door, dust on bedroom surfaces, and dog biscuits left scattered by the coffee machine, along with many more minor marks around the place. Staff were lovely at arrival but otherwise quite difficult to get hold of when required due to a wedding taking place at Newton Hall. Breakfast (served in the room) was generous in size and perfectly acceptable in quality. Overall, this place is clearly perfect if you’re at a Newton Hall event/wedding, but otherwise doesn’t justify its very high price tag.

Clean room with good facilities

Room was really comfortable and had everything that was needed. Only downside was cleanliness - there was a dirty coffee cup, dust in corners and lots of cobwebs, hot tub had lots of bits in it and windows were really dirty. Breakfast delivered to the room was a nice touch and we also visited the joiners which was a great pub and not to far away, a sign to the gate at the back of the static site would be useful.

We stayed in one of the garden rooms as a nice break away from work. The room looked nice from the outside but wasn’t up to the same standard on the inside. There was mould on the entrance curtain and a lot of dust in the main room. The bathroom was covered in mould behind the sink, toilet, on the blind that is in the shower and on the basket where the clean towels are placed. It was very disappointing for the money spent. The room itself should be nice but hasn’t been finished to a high standard, shoddy workmanship for the finish’s like the plug in the wardrobe, handles on the cupboards loose, toilet roll holder loose, damage to the wood on the doors. The room also felt a bit cramped with not much space to navigate past the bed and too the bathroom. We actually came back to our room after a long walk when the cleaners were doing our room so instead of disturbing them we attempted to get a drink from the bar but there was a wedding on so we couldn’t (which is fair enough) and by the time we walked past our room, 5mins later the room had been ‘cleaned’. Thermostat wasn’t working so no way to cool the room down during the day and can only cool down the room with the doors wide open which in the evening is no good as the lights are generally on so attracts all the bugs. The hot tub was the only good feature of the room. We did complain to the manageress who took our feedback onboard and was going to offer us some form of discount but we are still waiting to hear back from her

Lovely surroundings, rooms look great but cleaning could be better, splash marks in kitchens and toothpaste marks on walls in bathroom. Glass not clean, bedding and room doesnt smell fresh

The garden room is super cool, felt really cosy and had a good atmosphere. The only thing for me was the dust and dirt. It hadn’t been throughly cleaned windows and dust bunnies, opened the cupboard for the kettle and everything was dusty. Sand and mud still on the floor. Great location for beach walks!

The real issue was the smell particularly in the bathroom, strong cats urine smell, not sure where it was coming from, maybe the mouldy blinds. The room was very dark but that was just the style, not our taste but some people will love it. Robes and slippers provided, coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided with a couple of biscuits and bottled water, all nice touches. Room had a hot-tub out the back but we didn’t use it. It was surprisingly quiet during the night, one room was playing music earlier in the evening but this ceased around 10pm. Breakfast is available at The Joiners Arms which is about 200 yards away, no problem for us but weather was fine, some people may have issue with this particularly if it’s raining. Breakfast had a decent selection of pastries, yoghurts, granola etc with serve yourself tea, coffee and juice. We opted for full English, one with scrambled egg without beans and black pudding, the other with poached eggs and well done sausages. Both came with everything, scrambled eggs were runny, sausages not well done and poached eggs also very undercooked, not very impressed. All in all, I would say this it definitely not luxury or 5 star and would not stay here again, very expensive for 1 night in a ‘Deluxe’ detached garden room. We did mention the room smell when checking out and the receptionist said we should have let them know.

Absolutely delightful little getaway in Northumberland! Rooms are a delight. Very hispec. Only slight negative was wifi didnt work at all, and zero phone reception.

Lovely little escape to Northumbria. Modern, private and spacious rooms which was perfect for our night away as a family with our dog. Rooms had a few minor problems (I.e. loose floorboard) but that’s to be expected as a new build and it’s nothing that would put me off booking again. Thanks for a lovely stay!

The joiners Arms pub was lovely, the food was delicious. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable.

Close proximity of neighbours is not apparent on website. We had very rowdy neighbours on our last night. They were shouting, moving furniture and slamming doors between 12.30 and 2.30 at night

Me and my friend stayed for a wedding and we both had an awful night sleep due to the ?pipes in the bathroom, constant tapping noise all night

Our stay exceeded all expectations and we absolutely loved it! Our room was modern, clean and well equipped with more amenities than we were expecting which is always lovely including little touches like extra refreshments on top of the expected tea and coffee and a smart tv with access to all usual steaming services. We loved the hot tub (which is serviced by staff daily) and the chiminea with firewood which made for the perfect evenings in such a quiet and tranquil setting. We ate breakfast both mornings in the main hall which was exceptional, such large portions and high quality ingredients. All the staff were so lovely and attentive we could not recommend more! We staying a detached double garden room which felt so private and special and we wouldn't hesitate to book again!

The overall experience at the Garden Rooms was good. We would return, though there were a few things which disappointed us. The large sliding doors to the outside were very difficult to open. We are not feeble but it was almost impossible to slide due to being very heavy and stiff. The room itself smelt very strong of wood smoke from the chimnea, we did not use it during our stay. Also, the couch was extremely stained, i assume from people sitting on it when wet after using the hottub. It looked really uninviting and therefore we did not use it. Breakfast in the main hall was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. Especially the Americam lady on reception who had recently started working there.

It was amazing, the garden rooms are a hidden gem! The design of the room and bathroom were beautiful huge room. The hot tub was a great added touch! I was very thankful for the soya / oat milk in the fridge for us too. The little path to the joiners arms could have been lite a little better from the road to the static caravans but the pub was great also, food was delicious and breakfast was fantastic, great options. The village and walk to Beach especially with the added sunshine and heat on the Sunday

Overall my partner and I had a lovely stay! My only issue was checking in and out. Upon checking in the garden rooms check in was closed, it stated on the door to go to main reception to check in - which was no issue. The only hitch was there was a wedding party getting photos at reception so we couldn’t check in as we didn’t want to be in the way. We then phoned reception and they stated that they would send someone down to the garden room’s reception…we waited for 30 mins and no one showed. So we waited until the wedding party had finished then made our way to reception. Upon checking out we waited in reception for 10 mins for someone to check us out. Staff were lovely but we think checking in and out was due to minimal staffing.

We booked 2 nights in a ‘cosy’ garden room and were a little worried given quite a few recent reviews and pictures about damp, mould and wet wood in bathrooms. Fortunately our room was absolutely perfect (12) and we found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. A boiler breakdown left us with no warm water after our 1st night. Staff response was super fast, full breakfast was delivered to our room (as we couldn’t get a shower before walking down to the pub for breakfast) and immediate plans for a room switch put into place. We were moved into a beautiful deluxe suite in the main Hall and following an afternoon walk returned to find an ice bucket and prosecco, kindly left by the lovely lady on reception. Breakfasts are superb, beds and bedding some of the comfiest we’ve ever slept in and every member of staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the new room after the unfortunate boiler breakdown. Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location…huge thank you from us both for the attentive and exemplary levels of customer service we received.

This is my fourth stay now, so something keeps bringing me back. However, the price is really creeping up now and I have found better value for money for a similar service at other nearby hotels/lodges. The rooms are decent, but the odd spec of mould in the bathroom and in curtains. Other than that, clean and tidy! Breakfast was nice but slow. Staff are friendly.

Attended a wedding 29th of may. The wedding event was excellent. Stayed in a garden room quirky and well maintained, a bit hot though. Now my real upsetting point. The joiners arms, my nephew who was getting married booked a table for 25 people, unfortunately 29 turned up. The host would not accomodate the 4 extra in even allowing of us to eat in the bar, her comment was to go and eat in seahouses. We were very fortunate that we had a driver who had not had a drink, at 8:00 we were extremely lucky to find another place to eat otherwise the hotel does not provide anything This spoilt our evening as an aunt and uncle could not spend time with the family delebrating on a wedding eve. Despite my complaint to the hotel receptionist who said i would receive a response i have heard nothing to date

We had a fantastic stay in a Garden Room at Newton Hall, all the staff we met were so helpful and friendly. The facilities were well appointed and clean. Breakfast delivered to the room and in the dining room at the hall were delicious. The room was warm, cosy and the balcony with hot tub was very private. We had a s’mores kit and cocktail kit from the Hall which kept adults and kids very happy!

We have just returned from our first stay at the garden rooms and overall feel a little underwhelmed. Check-in - we arrived just at check in time and headed to the main building to find a reception. We couldn't find a single member of staff anywhere and stood at reception for a good 20 mins, headed round the back and a cleaner confirmed we were at the right place. Proceeded back to the desk and a queue had built up still no staff to be found. A further 10 minutes passed and someone appeared on reception and we finally got given our keys. Room - overall first impressions were good. Small details let it down and just didn't have a luxury feel and more of a glamping feeling in my opinion. Curtains were hanging off so they didn't cover the full glass front, easily rectified by standing on a chair and clipping them back on. Bedding was worn and clicked in places. Extra cushions on the bed were stained and dirty. Teabags and the tea tray were all soggy and looked like they had been there for years, I headed round to reception for new teabags. Bathroom felt grubby. I know these are garden rooms but the ceiling and blinds were thick of cobwebs and bugs which I hated. Outside furniture covered in bird poo and again cobwebs all over. Hot tub was lovely and hot which we enjoyed. We returned from our dog walk to find someone had taken the chimnea from our patio which was really disappointing and we tried to contact reception by the room phone but couldn't get through to anyone.

No directions were given and it took us ages to find our lodge, so long we nearly missed our reservation in the joiners arms. The joiners arms is advertised as been at the bottom of the garden. Again no directions so we had to find it by sat nav which took us via the main road. This isnt ideal if you are staying in the caravans with children. There may be an alternative route but the place is badly sign posted. When we arrived we couldn't find our way into the main hall to check in and again had to go via the main road, we did find the side entrance back after we checked in. Upon check in we were asked if we wanted to book for breakfast. I explained we already had a table in the joiners arms. I asked if there were other options and was told no. When we eventually got to our lodge the information booklet did say we had the option of having breakfast delivered to our room. We decided to change and it was lovely to eat our breakfast outside the lodge. I booked the turn down service for our return from the joiners arms and this was amazing. The chocolate dipped Strawberries were beautiful. We also struggled to find the beach which this venue advertises beach wedding, again using good old google maps we found our way to the beach at the ship inn.

Brilliant holiday venue, location superb. Would highly recommend!

Lodge was smaller than expected, and didn’t have a kitchen area as shown in the picture. Air conditioner would also make a massive difference. The location was fantastic, and the people were very friendly. The food and drink at the pub were excellent.

It’s a lovely room in a very quiet place. We had a gentle walk to the beach and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub.

I would absolutely come back to Newton Hall and stay in the Deluxe Garden Room with hot tub/soaking tub in the garden. It was nice and quiet and really private. There aren't enough breakfast slots for the number of rooms to have a full breakfast at the Joiners Arms which is a little disappointing, we arrived the same time as two other couples and when it was our turn to book the only slot left was 8am and we wanted a lie in so had to get the one delivered to the room. However, we were more than happy with the hot sausage and bacon roll, we also received juice, yoghurt, nakd bars, and 2 pastries per person - a significant amount of food! The fish and chips are good from the Joiners arms but £20 for fish and chips is outrageous, the smallest pot of curry sauce was an additional £3. There is no other choice in the area. A lovely spot to explore the beaches, the two pubs in Newton are very sweet and a great place for a drink after a big walk. Will be back!
