Faenol Fawr Country Hotel

Lovely room in beautiful setting. Bed was comfy, bathroom was spacious. Free continental breakfast offered. No evening meals provided but you could get drinks at the bar (take away recommendations and you could eat in the restaurant) Great swimming pool which my grandsons loved

It was an excellent 2 night stay, breakfast was plentiful and delicious with lots of choice, bed was very comfortable providing a good night's sleep and being able to use the swimming pool was an added plus, would definitely reccomend.

Stayed 1 night as a stop off. Staff friendly and professional. The pool had been in use when we arrived and we were told we would only be able to use after 7:30pm and pool closed at 8:00pm, which was disappointing as it was one of the reasons for booking this hotel. The staff however told us we could have longer time which was lovely of them. The pool is not massive but enough to have a good swim. Continental breakfast was included in our booking and there was plenty of choice. We will return in the future.

Great pool and staff were excellent. The food was perfect and reasonable prices. Perfect location with lovely grounds. Unfortunately our shower had no hot water though.

The building and setting is beautiful. The room itself was nice. However, the whole place needs a facelift and a tidy up. It's a bit tired and in need of TLC. The breakfast was ok. The food wasn't great quality, but it was ok. It's very much a sleep over venue for the wedding venue ( The Barn) next door.

Beautiful place ..great selections of alcohol and beers ... foods amazing ..... lovely clean room's ... staff are all awesome nothings to much trouble ..we loved it xx

The hotel was very quiet and in a quiet area. Nice sized rooms. The pool was nice, hot tub has gone if people have seen pics on some sites. Breakfast was very well catered for.

My grandsons loved the pool. Continental breakfast was very good, receptionist was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful historic building in lovely grounds

Room was not cleaned/checked prior to check in. Strong smell of sewerage. Upon check in we were told that there would be no evening food available due to a wedding. (Not advised in advance). Used insulin needle found by the steps of the pool. Continental breakfast consisted of cereal, and toast. No fresh pastries, meat etc. very poor choice.

Close to hospital as needed to be near to very sick relative to reduce travel time from home. Beautiful building and garden area. Didn’t use all facilities as was only there in an emergency situation not a holiday! The cleanliness could be improved. Cups in room unwashed/ mould in bathroom walls. Security could be an issue as fire door found to be wedged open by a brick last night on our return late at night?

I’ve stayed here a few times over the years for convenience for work but I’m afraid the rooms are still very outdated , the cleaners do their best but the bath had scummy sealant, the toilet roll holder was rusted , the bathroom floor was looking a bit of a state , the classic doubles are very very basic and need updating and it’s such a shame as the building itself is beautiful, the grounds could also do with some TLC . The plus side is the staff are lovely and the food and restaurant is nice

The main thing to note is that, eventhough on Hotels.com it says that there is a restaurant, the restaurant is not open in the week. If you go to their own website it clearly states this and on check in they do give you a list of takeaways that deliver to the hotel and let you use a meeting room to eat it in. Maybe it was just me but the hotel felt confused, was it a hotel, a B&B or self catering?The room I was in, the door lock didn't work correctly and the room neaded a good clean. There was dust, debris and hairs in a lot of the drawers and the carpet,eventhough obviously new, was dirty in places. The shower rail was also loose at the bottom where it wasnt fixed properly. The hotel reception is in an odd place, what looks like it would be the main reception is actually the entrance to the bar / breakfast room, there is a signpost for the reception which takes you down a gravel path and through a gate way, so not easy for wheeling your suitcase especially if you have mobility problems. When it comes to breakfast, the quality of food was good enough but it was just the attention to detail, the coffee machine needs a good clean and a lot of the glasses were streaky or dirty as were the tea and coffee cups, not to mention the large piece of eggshell in my egg! You can tell that money has been spent on the reception area, bar and rooms but it is the attantion to detail when it comes to cleanliness and maintainance that lets it down. For the money I was expecting more.

Frustrating as I called the day before to enquire about EV charging and told it was available, then on the day of arrival called to see if it was free so I could arrive with low charge to be told it’s “only for the owners”. On arrival confusing signage, and overall a fairly grubby room with dust, cobwebs and more in the corners and behind doors. I don’t usually notice this stuff, so for me to notice it was noticeable. The furniture needs a bit of an update, and the bathroom seems to be nothing like the pictures! Maybe they refurbished one room for the photoshoot? It’s a lovely building for sure, with an update it could be great. Also - fire alarm at 2am! This is where a fully manned front desk might come in handy.

PROS:The hotel was nice and clean. Location was very good to explore Conwy , Llandudno and Rhyl. Staff was very helpful and friendly. My room was spacious, Bedding was ok ,beds were a bit small despite the space they had. They had a facility to use microwave , fridge and toaster in the conference room. The breakfast was sufficient , may be should cater for kids a bit more. CONS: The shower in our room (412) had no pressure. I was unable to wash my hair and feel relaxed after a long day. The pool was closed at 8pm. They have 2 beautiful peacocks which sat near our window all night and made alot of noise. Overall a lovely hotel, def recommend the hotel, may be just a different room.

Location of the hotel was great for our needs as we were visiting Llandudno. On arrival area was lovely and building was beautiful. There was nobody on reception when we arrived but a staff member did go and get someone- the check in process was clear and everything was explained well. The room itself was clean and well renovated with a good amount of space- the lock in the bathroom was a bit temperamental and stiff and the tap in our room came off. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was very noisy and you could hear people talking in the room above and to the sides causing not a great amount of sleep - the floor boards were also loud but given the age of the building this wasn’t too much of a negative. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would more than likely return just a shame about the noise and sleep.

Great old house ….but we were in the smallest of beds & rooms, in a newer extension of it. I felt like I was in a caravan when in the bathroom. No food available in the evening, disappointed with it.

Clean good size room, decent breakfast, friendly staff

The staff were every helpful and cheerful. The hotel was just great for a short get away with a young family

What a delightful venue staff were fabulous and the setting was amazing. Breakfast great. Service was great at the bar. Couldnt fault anythint about this visit well done

The receptionist with the dark hair wasn’t very polite. Also the fire alarm went off but know one came and alerted us.

No meals served, only saw 2 members of staff over the 2 night stay. Fire alarm went off @ 1.46am, no explanation at any time, no apology. Heard a child crying non stop at 5am the first night, then heard the person next door snoring the second night. The place was empty, dark, uninviting, old fashioned. I certainly won`t be rushing back

Lovley place with exceptional staff. Only thing is there wasnt enough of them, was left waiting around at reception or at Breakfast time for staff to surface. However i suppose in these current climates and staff shortages it can't always be helped. I wouldn't hesistate to ever stop here again regardless - Great location too.

It’s next to the hospital so convenient for those travelling on work related to the hospital. The hotel has very good parking facilities. Unfortunately the kitchen seems to close early so late arrivals have to get something from the local Spar or take away deliveries

This is not a hotel as it does not provide meals. The setting is outstanding for Weddings; clearly the top priority.

Breakfast was very underwhelming. Self service is not good, scrambled eggs in water looked horrible, mushrooms were also in water. It was not appetising at all. No one around at first to advise us were everything was, eg., toast, coffee, juice. Such a beautiful hotel to stay in as long as you don't mind the underwhelming breakfast.
