It is a nice hotel, with a good restaurant/bar. There was a key card issue so staff had to walk each guest to their room. If you left, then you needed to be let back in. It was probably only about 6 hours of inconvenience but still annoying. Not being local, I asked several members of the staff where the shopping area was, and gave them a clue that it was an area called the “villages”. Nobody ever heard of that area. Funny thing is that the area I was looking for, (mountain brook, crestline and English village) was approximately 1.5 miles away. Yet, nobody at the front desk was knowledgeable enough to know that? The hotel should get better people to work the front desk.

Bag of food left in hallway overnight till next afternoon. Flooding on first floor closed coffee bar & restaurant. Just inconvenient. Staff was very friendly & nice. When it cost as much as it does to stay here we expect better.

I love the hotel. When I booked it showed a rooftop bar. That is closed. I think it is available for private bookings. It is surprising there is no pool. The great things. I was greeted by a valet who unloaded my baggage and took to my room. Parked my car. It was late and he suggested if I had not eaten that the restaurant was still open. I ate at the hotel restaurant 4 times. It was delicious and convenient just stay in. Even though I mentioned some negatives I still give the hotel 5 stars. I would come back. BTW: I think my granddaughter and new husband are staying there on their wedding night right before flying out for their honeymoon. That happened because they visited me at the hotel while I was in for her Bridal Shower at the Country Club. Sorry I write a book!! LOL

We were sad that the second floor space with TVs was closed on Thursday evening. We were hoping to watch Thursday night football and had to go to a bar down the street. Other than that, great experience.

Great location and overall nice property. Our room was average. Slightly dirty bathroom upon checking. No remote control and room phone to contact front desk was broken. After 30 min no one had addressed the issue and we had to go back to lobby and ask again. They finally gave us a remote from another room. The TV kept cutting in and out and freezing from satellite connection. Affected ability to watch college football games. Asked for manager to review our complaints and still haven’t heard from them.

Floors were filthy and room was dirty. On our second day, we requested that floors be cleaned and soap to be refilled- both requests were ignored. Very poor service for a”4” star hotel!

The bathroom had mold and mildew in grout and floor. There was a thick coat of dust on the back top of the counter top. There was mud on the bathroom floor from the time I arrived until I left along with a dirty mirror in the entry. The duvet had stains on it. My service plate in the onsite restaurant was dirty. It only held my napkin luckily. The decor and amenities were all beautiful, however the room was filthy.

Overall it was a very good stay. The only things that did not wow me were 1. The bathroom door is half glass--muted, but still a no for me. 2. There is no fan in the bathroom. 3. I could hear the room next door when someone was in the bathroom. 4. The TV had some screen issues. The staff was very friendly. We loved the fire pit outside the 2nd floor bar. I also liked that the front desk checked in with me once we checked in and then the next day to see how things were going for us I would stay here again.

We had a two night stay at the property. We had a room issue as soon as we walked in with the ac. It sounded like a jackhammer. They gave us a new room immediately but same issue. They accommodated our mask request with maintenance and they fixed the issue when we went to dinner. Friendly staff great location. A little pricey, but overall great

This is our fifth stay at the Valley Hotel- beautiful property in the heart of Homewood. Ashley always checks us in and is friendly and so welcoming and does a super job. We will return again soon!!

This hotel was fine. It all looked very nice upon first glance, but kind of felt like lipstick on a pig. Which seems harsh, and it was not terrible, but not great. It felt less clean than it should have, the service was fine, the bed was comfortable but the sheets were a little itchy, there was a stain on our carpet - not huge crazy things, but, the first glance appearance of it makes it seem like it should be 5 stars. The biggest problem I had was that the room service breakfast was the worst food I have ever had. It was inedible. And I don’t generally not eat my food, but I truly could not - plus there was a hair in my avocado toast. I got the avocado toast, a croissant and breakfast potatoes and I couldn’t eat more than one bite of anything, it was terrible. The croissant wasn’t even edible! Even the English muffin had some sort of horrible butter-like spread that tasted like chemicals. And the coffee was worse than old office coffee pot coffee. We would have had much better food if we had gone down the road to Waffle House. We even changed our dinner reservation from the hotel restaurant because I was worried it would be similarly bad. So I can’t speak to any other meals or the restaurant but I cannot stress enough how terrible the room service breakfast was - and of course that’s never a small price. I’m not sure I would recommend this hotel, and definitely would not for the price we paid, which was quite high.
