The room hadn't been cleaned very well as my 3 yr old kept on finding red feathers from a previous guest's feather boa under the beds. The gym was getting refurbished when we stayed at the hotel. Unfortunately we were only informed of this 24 hours before. As active people we were disappointed as the alternative equipment was sparse and in a very hot room overlooked by the reception area - not a great experience. We did complain about this and received a small discount on a breakfast one morning. The breakfast was pretty good with lots of choice. The pool area was good although we hadn't seen that under 5's couldn't swim until 9am so we had a very disappointed toddler at 7am. Thankfully we could entertain him with the discounted breakfast. Service was good at the reception and at beeakfast. We only used the evening bar to get some milk for the toddler, which the staff happily provided which was very appreciated. The location is good, right near the motorway and just outside of Preston along a leafy road. Parking was easy but understandably busy on the weekend.

I can confidently say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Their exceptional service was truly the highlight of my stay. The amenities are fantastic! The pool was pristine and perfect for a relaxing dip, while the hot tub was an absolute treat after a long day of exploring. In summary,this hotel exceeded all my expectations with its outstanding staff, luxurious pool and hot tub, and top-notch spa services. I can't wait to return!

This is a good hotel that was let down by poor service . It was unfortunate that the pool had to be closed during our stay and the main restaurant wasn’t open . Couple this with room service and housekeeping issues , this hotel was resting on its laurels and failing to fire on all cylinders.

Great hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Small things make all the difference and the experience was consistent all through the hotel. From a personable arrival at reception, giving me all the relevant info (last orders, gym opening times etc), friendly gym staff and great customer service and meal in the restaurant. I forgot my tooth paste and the lovely lady at the desk (apologies didn’t get name) gave me a toothbrush and toothpaste. I also didn’t know how to find the gym and she walked me there. Really made me feel valued as a guest. So much so, I enquired about the cost of the conference room for the day as hold quarterly business meetings with a small uk team who stay over the night before and have a full day meeting. I’ll be putting this hotel forwards as a suggestion for a future meeting. I work in sales and so stay in a lot of hotels weekly, all over the Uk. This is the first time staying here and is already in my top 5 hotels. Particularly love the gym and pool facilities which is what often draws me to picking hotels. Thanks Marriot Preston team! Great job :)

lady at check-in not welcoming / friendly Reeled off load of information very quickly nothing registered with me at all I asked about leisure centre she just pointed to corridor She was uninterested, made us feel overlooked Later on went to reception asked same lady for tea bags she literally threw/ slide them on the reception counter Definately underling unjust behaviour towards us not acceptable at all. Leisure facility very dirty Food in bar desert served but missing an element of the desert When I asked was told we ran out of that item This should have been mentioned when I ordered so then I could choose to order or not instead of serving desert and hoping it won’t be noticed Didn’t feel relaxed we experienced unjust behaviour, every individual should be treated as an equal and with respect but unfortunately we were not.

60% of the staff were very friendly and helpful but some seemed like you were bothering them and getting information out of them was a challenge as if it's unreasonable that I wouldn't know as much about the place as they did. The room had rust and mould in the bathroom 232. And where the sealant was applied it was applied poorly. The air con unit needs a service or something because it wasn't cold enough. I thought the Marriott is supposed to be premium I certainly paid £150 more for two nights than a local competitor and I'm not sure how it's justified. The decor in general needs a refresh. It was mostly fine but I thought I was paying for more than fine. The pool sauna steam room is good and the gym. The information on the room qr code could be a lot more informative about the facilities. Each item you click in to shows no more info than what's on the front page item. Why not tell us what size pool what type of gym equipment things that people might want to know.

Hotel was clean and bed was comfortable, although the breakfast wasn’t great. We may have been unlucky with our pancakes, but two were rock hard and one fell to mush when we cut into it as I think it had sat in water? There was also no chocolate powder in the hot chocolate machine. We did have a lovely stay, regardless, and may go back if we were in the area again. The coffee in the bar was delicious!!

The first room we had, there were sweets under the bed and people's belongings still in the room like toys, ect. We got moved to another room in the night after having a night from hell in Blackpool getting stuck in a multistory car park for 2 hours. The new room was good but when we woke up in the morning, to get a bath after a long stressful day from the day before, the bath plug didn't work so I could relax in the bath, had to settle for a shower. I thought the Marriot was meant to rival the Hilton's hotels but I would much rather stay in the Barton Manor down the road. My trust was broken after the first mishap with the room. It would take a lot for me to stay at the hotel again.

We had a lovely time . Hotel is mid refurb - most of the public areas now complete and bedrooms being done a corridor at a time to minimise disruption Spotlessly clean . Toilets meticulously so which is great . Staff warm and friendly Food excellent - both quality and portion wise . Breakfast buffet the best ever experienced away . Bathrooms in the bedrooms a little dated but didn’t affect comfort . We even got towel art . Gardens are stunning and the hotel is very pleasing to look at . Leisure centre lovely too.

Room was nice enough but floor was creaky, mattress a bit uncomfortable and the water flow from the shower was poor - possibly one of the worst hotel showers I have experienced. Warm water came out of the cold tap unless run for at least a minute Checkin staff were nice and friendly. There was a good water bottle refill station

Stayed here for one night for the Lytham Festival, hotel is a lovely old manor building with a big extension behind. Staff are super-friendly and the breakfast is excellent. Only gripe was that half of the hotel has been renovated in stylish decor and subtle greys, while half remains untouched since the 90’s (it appears), with old carpets and mismatched taps on the sink- older soft bed was uncomfortable- ask for a newer room and avoid rooms numbered 300+

Great hotel. Room smelt funky though. Towell rail was broken on full blast so room was nuclear. But the gym/spa facilities ate great. As was the breakfast and bed comfortable. Best place to stay in the area just find the rooms theres always something stopping it being a GREAT place to stay.

Hotel is really nice, found the room a little dated and the pillows not very comfy, i like firm pillows and these were v soft. I'm really disappointed to report our exceptionally bad check in experience. An experience that had such an impact on the rest of our 2 night stay and a reason not to visit again. After 6 hours of travelling we arrived at the hotel at 3.15pm ready to check in. It was obvious from the silence that there was an issue. It transpired that our room wasnt ready. We were offered another family room ( one less comfortable than we booked - double.bed and sofa.bed ) which we declined. I asked Elle how long the wait would.be, however she said she didnt know as the cleaning staff had many rooms to clean and would be hard to say ? Again more silence...and confusion on my part....especially as we had arrived AFTER check in opens. I then requested if our room could be prioritised over the others being cleaned, given me, my husband and 2 children were standing in the lobby ! Elle said she would check...but no one picked up the phone. Again more.silence. I then asked if she could call me when she managed.to reach someone with a response....as waiting an indefinite amount of time wasnt what i had hoped ( and paid for !) . At this point, the offer to wait in the bar/with a drink or suggestion of a swim...or anything demonstrating good customer service would have been welcomed. Instead more silence...... It was at that point i voiced my upset....only to be met with the response from Elle that check in was FROM 3pm !!! Suggesting it was unreasonable to expect my room ready. Disappointing

We were really impressed with this hotel. The room and general amenities were to a good standard. The staff were excellent. We had a minor issue with our room which was fixed immediately, and the staff were clearly very anxious to sort this without delay - very impressive. Breakfast buffet was good. Overall well worth staying here if you need a bed in the area

Great hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Small things make all the difference and the experience was consistent all through the hotel. From a personable arrival at reception, giving me all the relevant info (last orders, gym opening times etc), friendly gym staff and great customer service and meal in the restaurant. I forgot my tooth paste and the lovely lady at the desk (apologies didn’t get name) gave me a toothbrush and toothpaste. I also didn’t know how to find the gym and she walked me there. Really made me feel valued as a guest. So much so, I enquired about the cost of the conference room for the day as hold quarterly business meetings with a small uk team who stay over the night before and have a full day meeting. I’ll be putting this hotel forwards as a suggestion for a future meeting. I work in sales and so stay in a lot of hotels weekly, all over the Uk. This is the first time staying here and is already in my top 5 hotels. Particularly love the gym and pool facilities which is what often draws me to picking hotels. Thanks Marriot Preston team! Great job :)

A strange sort of place. It is a beautiful old manor with great history. The room was spacious and welcoming. We stayed there for 4 nights and generally enjoyed it. It’s strange in that it has many many rooms in several wings, but it has no restaurant. It has a bar area with a bar menu that is very sparse and limited. Thank goodness for the Broughton inn, a 10 minute flat walk away. We ate there 2 of the 4 nights and it was amazing. A real country pub with top food and drinks. Fabulous atmosphere and staff. Speaking of which. The staff at the Marriott seemed untrained and totally without any guidance. Is there a manager there? Who knows.An exception to this was a guy named Paul. He was very helpful and seemed to be enjoying the job. Other staff members seemed to be afraid of something and one, had only been there for a few weeks, said they had nightmares most nights 😳 . The housekeeping was mediocre at best and didn’t seem too happy either. It’s a shame really as a good manager encouraging staff and taking an interest could really make a difference. We are currently staying at the Marriott in Durham and experiencing the same issues, with no restaurant and the same menu as Preston Marriott. It sure sounds like it’s a head office issue throughout the whole Marriott chain. Would we stay with Marriott again? Possibly, but only to see if it has changed. If no.

When ordering food and drink at bar they added servic charge without telling me and i paid for it at time of order. Every room seem to have multiple air conditioners that are loud and not always in working order. When I called the reception and and suggested that the AC was not working, response was "Yes we are aware!". They've not sent anyone to help me change the room, carry the luggage etc. Poor overall awareness from the hotel.
