The Swan, Streatley, Berkshire

Excellent stay - comfortable room, nice river view, quiet night. Afternoon Tea enjoyable, as was dinner and breakfast. Service friendly and generally efficient. Boating hire well run too.

Great location, lovely hotel. Parking is good, there is a large free car park. The restaurant is good serving great meals. Only bugbear is that the service at breakfast is ok if you've got all day but not great if you want to get a move on. Why aren't you like other hotels where I can help myself to juice and cereal and that will shave 10 - 15 minutes off the time?

Second time here in 6 months; modern, good amenities (gym, sauna/steam room, river walks, lots more in the summer), onsite restaurant/bar (high quality, almost like a private members club!) and wonderful customer service. Only challenging thing was parking due to popularity of the venue.

Cute little village, hotel is right on the Thames which is cool. The hotel is pretty much like the description and photos just without the gloss. Overall it was a comfortable stay. One point is it has a very well set up & equipment gym, not the biggest free space but ideal for a hotel. The only thing is it’s also a commercial gym and when they hold a group class they nominate the space and to hell with the hotel guests.

Room was spotless and well appointed. The staff to the person were gracious and helpful. The gym was very clean and well appointed Ample parking Hotel is beautifully situated along a bulge in the river.

Super location, room overlooking the Thames. Great riverside bar and restaurant, quick service for food - just need to bring cutlery out first! Would definitely stay again

Very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Facilities are great and reception staff are very helpful. We asked for an extra duvet as we can’t get used to double duvets, and they brought it immediately. Complimentary water and bisquits in the room and facilities to make tea and coffee. Beds are large and comfortable. Breakfast is exceptional and very good value. Gym was well equipped and not too busy while we were there. The location is beautiful and within easy walking distance of the train station.

We recently returned and stayed in a comfy double room last weekend. Very well maintained hotel, room and facilities. The room was spotless. Great choice of indoor and outdoor seating and restaurant and bar services. We were satisfied with the gym. We didn’t use the sauna and steam rooms this time. Not the quietest of venues during event nights.

Parking was super easy, rooms are stunning and spacious - cannot wait to return.

Lovely hotel - beautiful surroundings and lots of amenities!

We were disappointed with cleanliness of Coppa club prior to signing in. We then moved the sofa in front of the bay window so we could both enjoy the view. Unfortunately there was a lot of debris under the sofa.

Room was spotless and well appointed. The staff to the person were gracious and helpful. The gym was very clean and well appointed Ample parking Hotel is beautifully situated along a bulge in the river.

It was a hot room and the fans had more dust in them than I’ve ever seen!

Average for the money. Room was insanely hot despite 2 floor fans going non stop. Restaurant food average although priced highly. TV sound would not work and on pulling the stand out from the wall there was dust everywhere.

Lovely large spacious clean rooms with good amenities and helpful staff.

Well appointed hotel by the river. Lovely, clean room but, unfortunately, a blocked and leaking sink in the bathroom that was not attended to detracted from our enjoyment of our stay. Trying to find anyone on reception to report it to was also challenging!

Lovely room with a small balcony overlooking the Thames . Clean warm and well equipped . Bath and walk in shower. Lots of cozy seating areas downstairs. Will stay again .

The hotel was fabulous, very clean and modern in design with beautiful fixtures and fittings. The bedroom was very large with a king size bed but did not overlook the river as was specified on the website, but was to the side of the river overlooking a seated garden with river in the distance. On entering the bedroom the throw on the bed was found to be covered in stains which we were extremely disappointed with and this was removed by a member of staff immediately. The bathroom was fabulous. Overall our stay at the hotel was very pleasant and breakfast was very good and service excellent. The area the hotel is located is very pretty with restaurants close-by should you wish to eat out. An excellent location to stay for a few days.

The room was excellent - we got a free upgrade to a larger room than we expected. It was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the facilities were all very nice.

We have visited The Swan at Streatley 5+ times in total over the past few years. For us, as we live relatively locally, it's a nice place to get away and enjoy a night away from home. Cleanliness is superb, as you should expect, as is comfort. All rooms, whichever size, are brilliant. However, the ones near the stairs, such as 21 I believe, have some noise if people are heavy on the stairs. However not a reason not to say and I believe they're one of the cheapest rooms. The restaurant, run by Coppa Club, is brilliant. You can eat on the enclosed terrace all year round and the price isn't too extreme given the location. Don't love the 12% service charge to be honest but you have to pay this in lots of places these days, it is dicretionary. Lots of places to go and sit around the hotel to enjoy a drink or their new lounge menu. Ample parking too, never an issue and lots of nice walks nearby too. Hotel is also dog friendly. May start to sound like an advert but just a good review! Not being paid at all to write all this.

Checked in to room 42, after just 10 mins of being in the room, the humming noise amd vibration from the extraction fan of the kitchen situated directly below was unbearable. I have stayed at the hotel previously on the other side of the hotel facing the river but the opposite side of the hotel was the polar opposite with a tiny box room and the constant drumming of the extraction hood. The hotel was full so there was no change of being moved despite asking twice. I was however given a 50% refund but would've preffered to have not stayed in the same room. Beware when checking in and request a room over looking the car park or river areas.

Really nice location, shame I stayed during a heatwave as there isn’t any aircon in the room and the room was facing west (it had the sun on the room, which added to an already warm room).

I love this hotel, this is my third stay, first time with the family. The hotel overall is gorgeous in beautiful surroundings. The restaurant was lovely as was the food and the cocktails and the service was impeccable. The room was a family room and was huge! No falling over each other loads of space, plus an added touch the fan was already running when we got there as it was a warm day, thank you. Tiny issue with team doors banging in the morning (not unreasonable time but nonetheless) but this will not stop booking another visit at all.

Beautiful modern hotel with amazing views, great facilities and spacious rooms. The only issue we had was the noise from the corridor but we would definitely stay again in the summer when we could really appreciate the setting.

Fabulous location. Great food. Outside terrace was a pleasure to sit on. Bedrooms was unbearably hot and parking was a challenge.

Room over looking restaurant entrance. As such very noisy, waiting taxis and people chatting late at night. No air con just a fan which made for an uncomfortable night as room was very warm, fan struggled to cool.

This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in here in the UK - big room, river view and balcony - huge bed and large bathroom. On a sunny day the deck chairs by the Thames were a beautiful location for a morning coffee. Good value for a mid week stay.

Booked 3 rooms of same style for 1 night for offsite wedding. Location is idyllic. 2 other rooms were modern and spacious, our room was cosey (double sloping roof eves). Our only issue was tiny wardrobe with room safe and ironing board which would not take our wedding outfits. Light switches took a while to work out, suggest you label. Had to ask for milk but staff very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was to a high standard but pricy as you have to pay for each item. Didn’t use restaurant but Coffee shop was good. Hotel entrance is by rear car park. Had enjoyable stay and would recommend Hotel.

Originally booked a cozy top floor room. On check-in, was told I had a room upgrade. Turned out my new room was noisy, near the front door and car park, on ground floor with corridor leading through to restaurant.

All the staff were brilliant. Room was lovely had everything you would want including a mini fridge and toiletries. Bed was amazing so big and comfortable Dining options fab and coffee from the cafe absolutely stunning

I love this hotel. It is beautiful and has so many amenities! First class. This is my second stay here and I can’t wait till the next one. The staff is awesome! I came in on an early flight and Tonya was able to get me into my room by 10 o’clock because it was empty that night before. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that after spending 12 hours flying. Hotel is beautiful, the Thames Riveris beautiful, the staff is amazing. I have to say is the finest hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe. The view is breathtaking. This Swan is perfect!💕

Hotel was great, lovely location and had a large room. Staff did not know how to add to room bill for the family room as it did not have a number and question me on why I did not give a number. This was across three places within the hotel. Lobster bar really busy but wonderful placement. No table service must order at bar. Table was in line of the queue for the bar, very tight. Food came incorrect and missing items, staff did not fix issue due to how busy it was and then tried billing for missing items. Seemed too busy for the volume of staff on duty and a small bar compared to the people on site. Breakfast was lovely although a little small for the price. Breakfast staff were very good and the view was excellent. If it was not for the inadequate staff at the lobster bar I would have rated the venue 5*.

From check in to check out this hotel & its staff were faultless. So organised , staff were knowledgeable & professional & the restaurant offered a wide variety of tasty & affordable food all through the day. The hotel itself was spotless & the views from the restaurant are fabulous as is the pretty riverside & nearby village. Our Room was clean & modern with all the amenities you would require when travelling We usually stay in a London hotel as a stop over but from now on will definitely use this little treasure.

Loved everything about our stay - hotel was lovely and in a beautiful setting next to the river, food in the restaurant was superb. The only downside was the hotel’s response to there being no water in our room in the morning. I tried several times to contact reception on the phone, but it was engaged every time. When we went down for breakfast and I spoke to the receptionist, she was sat playing on her mobile phone and her response was very dismissive - “oh yeah, a few rooms have reported the water is out and the gym too”. I’m surprised that in this situation there wasn’t more effort to proactively contact guests and apologise, perhaps make alternative arrangements to allow people to shower etc. Unfortunately the issue wasn’t fixed before we checked out and so we had to leave without being able to shower. There was no attempt to apologise, let alone offer any kind of reimbursement for the poor experience. A disappointing end to an otherwise lovely stay.

Great overall stay at this beyond hotel on the river. We had forgotten to mention that we were bringing our golden retriever, that was no problem and we were given a wonderful and big room overlooking the river. Zaza was treated as a very special guest for our stay as were we. All of the staff were brilliant, we will be back for another stay soon! Thank you for a really great experience.

The Swan is in a lovely position overlooking the Thames. We had a nice spacious room overlooking the gardens and river. The main critacisim is that the weather was cold and we would have liked some central heating in the hotel.

We had a lovely overnight stay for a birthday. The staff were so welcoming and very helpful. Views from the dining terrace are magnificent! We will be back again in the summer when we will bw able to enjoy them for longer.

Ideal for our Thames Path walk. Beautiful setting, well appointed comfortable rooms, with outside terrace and view of the church, nice bar / restaurant with a lively vibe and good snacks in the evening. I'd asked for a quiet room but unfortunately my room was over some kind of generator and there was a loud hum all night. Breakfast was underwhelming, two tiny poached eggs on dry toast (we had to ask for butter), served rather cold, as was the coffee.

The attached Coppa Club restaurant is wonderfully located but as far as breakfast is concerned it doesn't fulfil its promise. No fruit available for breakfast for the second Xmas running (no fruit option on the menu).

Had a lovely night here . The toon we had was extremely spacious but next time I will ask for another river view suite that’s more in the sunshine . The restaurant doesn’t serve anything amazing but the quality is very good . The flat iron steak was very tasty and tender . Service was friendly and with a smile . Good for burgers etc . Will return definitely

It was New Years Eve and understandably busy however we were left with empty drinks for thirty minuets and a number of other issues. I would love to stay at the hotel again because that side of it was gorgeous and well organised but I would not return to the restaurant!

Hoped it would be amazing, it was ok. We arrived 15mins early and room not quite ready so we decided to order a drink outside using the QR code on menu on table. After 20 mins and no drinks we asked inside and they said that was another team responsible for the drinks outside and it wasn't open yet. My other half had to go down to the Coppa Club to get a refund. Now our room was ready so we collected key and headed up. Key didnt work so we had to go back to reception and they fixed. Room lovely and spacious, bathroom the same and both spotless. Great products provided. Also great coffee but we had to ask for it to be replenished each day. Prosecco in the fridge which was a lovely touch only the edge was taken off as the card said happy anniversary when I'd mentioned on booking that it was our honeymoon. Some friends had tried to organise for a gift to be ready in our room too but after being passed around on the phone and leaving a voicemail that was never returned they were unable too. It was unusually hot and though there was a dyson fan I think most other hotels at this price point would have air con. I think in normal British summer temps it would be fine. Food was great at both the lobster bar and coppa club but at coppa club we had to chase our drinks as waited 20mins again and the heaters had run out of gas at the lobster bar. Best service we had was feom the young chaps at this bar. Super friendly
