This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel, always been very satisfied, unfortunately not so this time , The room was absolutely fine , no problems there , one of the lifts didn't work , a little concerned, although there was another lift , my husband is disabled and cannot do stairs , and if the only other lift had failed , there could have been a problem .we decided to have a quite drink in the bar last night ( Sunday)there were a number of very loud guests, which became slightly annoying after a while .the breakfast was most disappointing, having paid £10.00 each , the choice wasn't good and when we went this morning , there's was almost nothing left (8.45am). We were asked if we would like scrambled egg and hash browns cooked to order. Wasn't offered fried or poached . When it came to toast , 5 pieces in a tray. I didn't think the breakfast was worth the cost . Should have been checked and filled more regularly.

Brilliant service but let down by lift buttons on 3rd floor not working and a very poor breakfast. Plenty of parking but car charging points not working. Ideal location for M4, rooms are spacious and well insulated from noise. Very quiet and peaceful nights sleep.

Comfortable stay and easy quiet arrival late night checkin. The staff were very professional and accommodate complimentary checkout until 12 midday to cover my private teams video call. Breakfast was lovely and good range with decent gym and equipment. Quiet room with sofa.

Great room with all the amenities, good free WiFi and free parking …I really enjoy staying at this hotel.

Was looking forward to staying here after a recommendation from a colleague. The EV charger was out of action, which was another reason why I chose this hotel. The bathroom door got stuck and it took some time to manage to get out of there! Breakfast was good but they keep hashbrowns in a steam bath which makes them very soggy.

Stayed here on a Sunday night. Room was great. But the restaurant was closed on the Sunday evening, with only a limited bar menu - pizza, chilli con carne, etc. The cooked breakfast on the Monday morning looked like it had been sitting there a long time - scrambled egg was inedible.

What a find I loved my stay here it was very easy to find plenty of parking and even charging points which I didn’t realise until I left. On arrival at reception where I received a lovely friendly professional check in. My room (201) was a good size a lovely bathroom which was very clean the room was very quiet I didn’t experience any noise interference and check out was very good to the price was amazing and if I have any events in Cardiff I will definitely book here again.

Clean room, modern amenities and high end toiletries. I loved everything about it - in fact, the room was worth more than I paid so was very glad. I removed one point because I felt itchy but that maybe me as I’m allergic to some laundry detergent but the beddings were very clean - I have no complaints at all on the surface, which is very unusual of me & we enjoyed the breakfast.

Ok Value, reception and breakfast area good, room run down, bathroom dirty, mould, missing/broken towel hangers in shower area, bed sheets seemed changed and fresh but had other persons hair on them.

The room was spotless, staff were accommodating, friendly and polite.

The hotel was lovely and spotless, breakfast was beautiful, not much around the area, services are under a mile away, very comfortable room

Not clean

The bedroom was lovely and very clean but, very disappointed with the big stain on the botton bed sheet. It was to later to ask for a clean sheet, but we did mention it to the desk staff in the morning, the reaction was - I'm sorry and goodbye. Not impressed!!!

We booked this room for a night away and to enjoy some food from the nearby restaurant Sawyers. After we had checked in and settled in to our room I contacted reception to ask about Sawyers and was told that it was closed that night. The alternative we were offered was the Light Menu from the bar in the hotel. As there were no other restaurants nearby and delivery from restaurants in Newport was going to be over an hour we decided to order from the bar. When I went to place my order I was told that they were having technical issues with the microwave and the only food available was pizza or pizza! We chose the pizza which tasted very bland. The final issue we had was when I was making a cup of tea and removed the pack of biscuits that was sitting in the cup, only to find the remains of someone else’s coffee in the bottom of the cup! I took the cup to reception and on showing the receptionist he said “Lovely”. I replied “ I don’t think it’s lovely!” He apologised and washed the cup and gave me an extra packet of biscuits! Overall we were very disappointed in our stay. We feel we should have been advised on booking that the Sawyers restaurant was closed that night not after we had checked in. The technical issues may not have been anybody's fault but to only have one microwave in the hotel seems to have been an oversight! The final straw was the dirty cup-when you see that you do start to worry about the standard of cleaning in the room and the hotel. A disappointing stay!

Staff are excellent and very friendly. Breakfast was very good. Room was immaculate but very warm at night but I requested a fan which was immediately supplied. Only moan related to the cleanliness of the stairs to the upper floors near to the reception area. There was dried mud which had not been cleaned for a couple of days.

I have stayed here a number of times since it was built and over time I have noticed that it's becoming more dated each time I've visited. The most recent visit showed the room we were given had a number of maintenance issues (bathroom door not working, mold in bathroom). In addition, we asked to change rooms as there was a buzzing noise from outside the front door. When calling reception I noticed the phone receiver was also dirty. We were given a new room by the friendly staff but the replacement bathroom also had signs of mold in the bathroom/sealant issues.

I had a room for 2 adults and 2 children. The sofa bed for my children was terrible. It was so uncomfortable, and there were gaps between the “mattress” and metal frame. It was unsafe and completely inappropriate even for kids. My child’s leg got stuck in this gap several times at night. The bedding was not even put on properly. The main adults bed was very unusually high. Furthermore, at breakfast the buffet was was missing bread, butter and eggs. We had to keep asking for them to be topped up and the waiter was taking his time to bring things out which meant we waited around 15 mins for all the things we wanted. This was extremely frustrating as we have a child with disabilities.

The hotel was a oven, I had the Aircon on full as the room was at 23 degrees on checkin. When I woke it was 27 degrees, I woke feeling ill and fragile. No one told me about check out, parking or asked about my experience. View was if a building site and the hotel was covered in scaffolding.

Spacious room and well equiped bathroom. Blackout blind on window is excellent. Bed a bit firm and noisy.

Excellent value for a great room 216 it had all you could ask for 2 seater settee footstool and a desk and chair and best of all blackout blinds

My room was spacious and clean, however was located at the end nearest the motorway, so there was traffic noise all night. I'd recommend asking for a room at the entrance end of the building if you're a light sleeper. The heat increase control on the a/c unit didn't work, so putting the fan on only made the room colder. It didn't get above 18 degrees the whole time, so was a little chilly! The bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels, although the shower tray drain was blocked/slow and almost overflowed even after a quick shower. The food at the diner adjacent to the hotel was great quality and the service was very good.

Lovely large clean rooms. Very convenient for motorway stop over. Breakfast was more than adequate with great coffee. Sawyers restaurant was lovely too.

Struggled with Air Conditioning issues so had to move rooms. Rooms smelt musty/damp. Bed comfy, shower powerful. Free parking, fast internet & good breakfast. Recommended restaurant in car park was very expensive (£5 for glass of coke) & food was average for price.

Room was fine, not a lot anywhere near other than a subway. Main problem was lack of fresh air, no windows that open even slightly and air con was really noisy. Room too hot even in cool weather

Great convenient location. Friendly staff. Nice size room. Good shower. Only negative for me was the uncomfortable bed.

Double charged me for evening meal, took 7 phone calls to sort. All put £pending on my card for breakfast, still can't get it cleared after 3 weeks.

Room was ok but I was ignored at check in for 10 mins as the staff were serving at the bar. More people came into the bar and they were served first over those who were waiting to check in.

Another great stay at TY Magor. The staff at this hotel are the best nothing is to much trouble for them .

I recently stayed at Ty Magor and overall, my experience was very good. The hotel was comfortable, and everything seemed well-maintained. However, the check-in process at reception was quite slow. I had to wait around five minutes initially, and when I was told someone would come to assist me shortly, I stepped out and returned to find myself waiting another 10 minutes. Perhaps additional staff or more efficient processes could enhance the experience. Despite this, I appreciated the hotel's amenities and would consider staying again. Overall it was very comfortable and cosy.

Another great stay the staff at this hotel are so nice

The hotel itself was fine i was just disappointed that because of a change of plan due to a Bereavement i would have had to pay more than i paid to stay there to change the date. No compassion by the hotel but hotels.com did their best for me but ty Magor wouldnt budge. Probably wouldnt book again for this reason

Overall a gd nite just a few things like the lights above sink weren’t working but nice clean place comfy bed staff at check in seemed to prefer to do other stuff rather thank check u in we were waiting bout 15 min

We had some issues with our original room, but after talking to the staff we we dealt with excellently, couldn't fault the customer service we received from all the staff we ran into.

Great stay. Had problem with door opening but staff delt with it immediately and looked after us the whole time. Look forward to staying again.

Very handy location and easy parking

The hotel itself is lovely. Room was fantastic with a walk-in shower nice corner sofa to relax on. The only let down was located as the area is still being renovated roads leading in had huge pot holes and not much around facilities wise

Booked the hotel to be able to get into Cardiff for a concert. Good access and parking. Relatively easy to get to Cardiff via Uber to Newport station and then train. Unfortunately had to leave early next morning so didn't get to sample breakfast though it looked very nice. Would stay again.

Good accessible location close to the M4. Friendly staff and good service, rooms were clean and tidy. Extremely good value for the money.

Bargain price, close to Cardiff. Clean and modern. Bit of a building site on the land around the hotel which is probably why it's currently so cheap. Perfect for me visiting Cardiff the following day.

Comfortable room with good breakfast. 24h reception / check in is very handy, great location for travelling

There are many good things about this hotel but sadly breakfast was not one of them. There was very little hot food left when we went down and it took too long to be replenished. The quality of food options available left us thinking that with more effort the standard could match what the rest of the place has to offer. Unfortunately this sticks as the last memory of the stay.

The hotel was nice and very comfortable. However, we paid extra for breakfast and went down at 9:40am, 50 minutes before it was supposed to end, only to find there was nothing left. When they finally refilled the food, they only put out six hashbrowns and nothing else. We were very disappointed, especially considering the additional cost.

We stayed after a concert in Cardiff. It was relatively convenient for a late night check-in and leaving the next morning. Not a place to visit... a place for those in transit. From that point of view it worked ok for us. Breakfast was basic - as you would expect given the room rate.

I imagine the hotel is not always so busy, but definitely has to step up in terms of service on a Sunday morning

Lovely hotel and great position for our needs will definately stay again. However, very disappointed with sawyers the associated restaurant. The menu was very limited but we can live with that but a large glass of wine £10.45 is ridiculous the cheapest prosseco £37 a bottle. I'm afraid we left and found a restaurant 0.5 of a mile away with much better menu and £15 for a house bottle of very nice white wine. This stupid pricing is aimed at workers putting on a expense account and not caring how much. There is no consideration for couples and families staying here with those prices.

Breakfast was superb

The overall cleanliness was spot on. Bedroom was well designed but the beds felt cheap , every time your turned over the made a clunky spring noise. The bathroom door was a slide across design made of glass so when in the bathroom there was not a complete seal to block off smell or steam. It also meant if you wanted to use the facilities in the night you couldn't turn on the light without disturbing your room mate. Breakfast was a shambles. Two young girls on to serve a busy restaurant. One cooking the other waiting. The hot food was coming out at a snails pace and you couldn't have a full English with all the items together. The pastries were limited coming out slowly and toasting bread disappeared quickly as that was all that was available on demand. It took us an hour to get a full plate of cooked food. The girls were not at fault they managed the situation perfectly or as best they could. Poor management! We had to walk to the restaurant in the evening which served good food but on our return to the hotel we struggled to find a path that wasn't submerged in water. After a torrential downpour the badly laid driveway pavements disappeared. Not the stay we had expected!!!
