My wife loved our stay at this clean and colourful, centrally located hotel! Staff are phenomenal. Lounge area is lovely. The room has everything you need and nothing you don't. The gym is small, but was functional and featured lux equipment. The only thing we didn't get to see was the patio (it is closed over the weekends) but we will definitely be back> Thanks again!

Friendly and helpful staff at this location. My favorite thing was the unforgettable view on the rooftop! Everything was sparkly clean, comfortable bed, refillable water station in the lobby & gym. This location is walking distance to many shopping spaces, restaurants, Lombard street, California street.

It was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and the place was clean and very cool. Chris/Riser checked us in and he made sure we had a great room asked if we’d rather be up high or on a lower floor and gave us free drink vouchers! Amazing staff amazing building very secure there’s a parking garage right next to it as well that is not very expensive but also very safe and secure. Absolutely would stay again.

Absolutely amazing location with transit everywhere, it's hard to imagine a better location to stay in. The room was small but quite private, very well ventilated (especially the small bathrooms, exceptional ventilation), comfortable, and with nice features like motorized curtains. Exceptional convenience with a BART/MUNI station right on the same block. Parking is not available, but the parking garage next door was convenient enough for it to not matter (around $45 a night with a 72 hour limit)

This one’s on me, I should have paid attention to the dimensions of the room before booking because it was way too small for 2 people. The common space on the third floor is fantastic. Staff was mostly great. Want to highlight Chris who worked the night shift. He was exceptional: professional and efficient and had a great spirit.

Safe hotel because theres a doorman at the entrance and you can only get up to the lobby with a key. Has a bar, able to order food from the kitchen I believe until 3am. Alot of lounging areas with alot of art pieces. Hotel rooms are small but I personally dont need huge spaces because I am not in the room all day. Bed was comfortable for me. Tiny fridge. Overall will be back again

There was a bit of mold/mildew at the top of the ceiling in the shower that was off-putting. The garbage wasn’t big enough (granted, I did skip room cleaning in my two-night stay). Also it would’ve been more convenient if there was a bottle of clearly marked anti-microbial hand soap next to the sink. There was only one bottle called “soap”, so I kept having to swap the bottle between the shower and the sink, and I still don’t really know if it was anti-microbial which is wild lol. Perhaps swapping the hand + body soap for anti-microbial hand soap would be useful. I liked the lobby’s decorations but it was a little confusing to understand where to go to check in. It’s good the building has security and controlled access to the floors with rooms on them because the area can be a little rough at times. The room was really cozy though and the view facing John’s Steakhouse was cool

1st ADA room. Toilet tissue holder falling wall, toilet seat broken or loose, sliding glass door to bathroom would not stay closed. When taking shower, entire bathroom floor was wet. Notified front counter before leaving for a few hours. When we came back, nothing was fixed. Moved to another ADA room. Better, bathroom had about an inch of water around toilet after 2 showers. Very poor drainage design

Young modern auto-checkin tiny room hotel. The rooms although small, are comfortable - very much for one person and quite for two people. The comfortable large bed is cornered flush at end of room which turns out to be very practical.

My husband and I are light sleepers, so it's rare to find a hotel in the middle of a big city where we can get a good night's rest. This hotel's rooms have excellent sound-proofing (at least on the side away from the street) and our room was so quiet! The combo of day curtains + blackout curtains were also a huge help. Staff were friendly and the doorman/security always had the door open for us while helping us feel safe. The rooms are very European - ie, tiny but with ingenious design that manages to fit everything you need in that small space. The only drawbacks are that if you are a couple, oner person has to climb over the other every time they want to get out of the bed. Also, there's only a duvet and no top sheet, so if you sleep hot (like us) you'll be very sweaty or uncomfortably bare of any covering.

Hip hotel with smart rooms--everything is controlled conveniently with an in-room iPad. Unfortunately, my night curtain was broken and it could not be lowered manually. Rooms are cozy but can be claustrophobic. Outstanding bedding with super-comfortable pillows.

This was such a great experience! I had to travel to San Francisco for a work event and was nervous about my stay. The location was excellent but what really stood out was the staff. In a time where customer service seems to have disappeared, the whole team at CitizenM was amazing. It seems like the staff did every job in the lobby which was very convenient when needing assistance. Everyone was friendly and efficient, from the doorman to the housekeeping team. You also cannot beat this location!

I had an incredible stay at this hotel! The entire experience felt futuristic and innovative, everything in the room is powered by an iPad or phone app, making it super convenient and enjoyable. Sunday and Fernie were absolutely amazing, so welcoming, friendly, and full of great local recommendations. My second stay at a CitizenM and I keep liking them the most for solo travel. Love the tech and everything is easy checking in and out. The common areas are great to chill outside your room and even easy to meet cool people. Staff were all friendly and security at the entrance always recognized me and opened the security door for me. This location is close to everything you would want and if things are a little further BART/Muni is right there and ride apps are super easy for pickup and drop off at the front door.

CitizenM never disappoints. The hotel itself is clean and super conveniently located in Union Square close to public transportation and plenty of food and drink options. Like every big city though, there are some rough spots if you walk a couple blocks in the wrong direction (however, I was visiting SF this trip and lived in SF for over a decade before this, and tbf the Tenderloin can be sketchy but as long as you are paying attention and don't engage with local residents you will normally be fine).

What a quirky little hotel! The rooms were small but very efficient. The staff was very helpful. The vuew from the 12th floor was great. Plenty of dining options and it was close to the cable cars and the BART station. This hotel is excellent!

We love citizen M hotels, this one didn’t disappoint. Only reason for the 4 star is location. Not a terrible location, but right in the middle. Go two block one way and you are in a different world (tenderloin), go the other way and it’s very nice. But overall amazing experience and great hotel!

This is the 2nd Citizen M we have stayed at and it has yet to disappoint. The rooms are perfect for sleeping and relaxing after a day of sight-seeing. The staff and amenities are all excellent. I love the breakfast buffet and the availability of small plates and cocktails all day.

Hipster's heaven with things like I-pad controlling everything in the room. Staff extremely helpful, friendly and patient with this 70 year old dog learning new tricks. Unfortunately the hot water was broken and no breakfast my first day. No matter how much money you spend on renovations & creating hipness, you have to cover the basics like back-up hot water system and a simple hot water tank for your kitchen.

Every thing is good, only the room is small and bath water flow is small, too. The breakfast is a little bit expensive but they offer smoked salmon and ham, not like as chain hotels breakfast. Worth to try it. They have microwave in cafeteria and let you heat up leftover. It’s convenient.
