The property was clean and in a walkable area convenient to transportation. However, their website advertised a bar in the hotel. Upon checkin we learned the hotel bar was closed after Covid and was not expected to reopen. Totally false advertisement related to amenities. Also, there was only one ice machine in the building so you have to leave your floor to get ice. It was empty when we tried to obtain ice at the machine. We had to go to the lobby to ask for ice.

Arranged for the hotel to store our luggage as we arrived early after a cruise. Arrived a bit after 9am and were told we could have to room then Same at the end of the stay. Clean, quiet, and spacious room. Friendly hotel staff and well kept facility all around. Offers fresh, clean water station in the lobby which is super convenient. I lost a bracelet and the hotel staff was very kind to let me check the room again after I have checked out (cleaning staff hasn't cleaned it yet). Good location. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights. The beds were so comfortable. We appreciated the coffee pods and tea bags for the morning and mini fridge for keeping some small breakfast items. There are filtered water machines to fill the room jugs with throughout the hotel. It can be a bit of an uphill climb to the hotel depending on the direction you’re coming but that’s San Francisco. We also liked being near Chinatown for easy access to eateries, grocery stores, bakeries, and coffee shops. It was easy to access public transit and the cable car stop is right next to the hotel in the Powell/Bush intersection. We appreciated the attentive 24h front desk staff and got what we needed from them or delivered to our room by staff.

Hotel is well located, very good condition, quiet and hotel staff very attentive easy passenger loading zone in front of hotel. Overnight parking a block away only $22 until 9 AM. Must be aware of parking on the street because of tow away zones.

Wonderful boutique hotel within walking distance or short uber ride to all the attractions. Management and front desk are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and decorated nicely. I used to live in San Francisco so the location was safe and great for solo, couples or families. The restaurant had great eggs benedict and avocado sour dough toast.

Room and the public areas are very clean and bright. Room was smallish but well appointed. Bed comfortable Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. We will go back when we are in the area.

Our stay at the Orchard was great! Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was well located to transportation, restaurants, and attractions. The hotel was clean and comfortable. And certainly doing their part to be eco-friendly. Our only knock would be that the cleaning staff was not consistent. Some days everything was picked up, restocked, and there was attention to detail. Other days things were not replenished, forgotten, or surfaces were not wiped down. We would choose the Orchard again👍

The room was filthy — it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned at all before I checked in. What’s even more alarming is that I received a message in the middle of the night from someone named “Jasmine.” How did this person get my contact information? I’m seriously concerned about how the hotel handles guest privacy and security. This was both unprofessional and disturbing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel doesn’t present well from outside and in the lobby but the rooms are clean and comfortable (albeit a bit dated - bathrooms looked more recently renovated. Location of hotel is great, good dining options around the hotel. There is a decent hill near the hotel which was fine for me but that applies in a lot of San Francisco locations. Main problem is the plumbing which woke me up twice on night one due to rooms around me taking showers at 3am and 4.15am. Otherwise room was very quiet for the rest of my stay.

This hotel is conveniently located in Union Square, and there is a parking garage on the same block. The room was nice and comfortable and the bathroom was very large and private, unlike other comparable hotels in the area that sometimes just have pocket doors. The room faced another building, so there was no view and the room was rather dark because the other building blocks the natural light. No key card was required to get in the elevator, so anyone could go up, however the front desk is manned 24 hours a day. I didn't get breakfast there, so I can't comment. The room had a mini fridge. There is no food service at any other time of day. For our trip, this was a nice place to stay at a good price!

Second time to stay. They upgraded me to a lovely, spacious suite. When in SF you have to expect small rooms and bathrooms, but not here. The pictures tell the story. The bed is what brought me back. So soft and comfortable. Worried about the walk up the hill? Don’t be. Just take the cable car. Download the mini app, get a Clipper Card that works on the ferry too, and they’ll drop you off at Powell and Bush, right by the hotel. Just to manage expectations, on the side of the hotel toward the cable car line you will hear/feel the cable cars between morning and 10PM. A bit like an airport hotel and planes. Not bad.

My daughter and I took the train up for one night (we were visiting friends in Sacramento). I had stayed at the same Hotel recently with my partner and it was enjoyable, but this time was a whole new level. We got a free upgrade and a gorgeous Corner Suite with the view, the staff was just as fantastic this time as last time, the gentleman who checked us out gave my daughter a box of gummy candies and it was so thoughtful. We loved the eco-friendliness, , the bath and shower were both great, and the bed was phenomenal. I will say we loved the service in the breakfast restaurant, but the menu was not the best for children, and we wound up ordering about a pound of chocolate chip pancakes that we could only eat a fraction of. Otherwise it was perfection. Highly rated, I will definitely return, and I will recommend this place to any friends visiting San Francisco. Oh plus the location right off of Union Square near the Powell BART station was great as well. Right on the trolley! Thanks to y'all for such a lovely stay.

I stayed at Orchard Hotel for three days for business. It was conveniently located in the center of the city - steps away from the cable car line (along Powell), a few minutes from the China Town and Union Square. I walked to the financial district every day. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. My room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. I would stay here again when I am in town.

Arranged for the hotel to store our luggage as we arrived early after a cruise. Arrived a bit after 9am and were told we could have to room then Same at the end of the stay. An extra 2 hours for late checkout was granted straight away Very quiet hotel. Didn’t have the breakfast and it appears the bar is no longer in use. This was no issue as Union Square was only a short walk away, with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops locally Received several text messages during the stay, to check that all was ok Room spacious and clean. Bed comfortable. Water pressure decent in the bathroom Coffee machine, fridge. What more could you need? A pleasant end to a long vacation

Our stay at the Orchard was great! Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was well located to transportation, restaurants, and attractions. The hotel was clean and comfortable. And certainly doing their part to be eco-friendly. Our only knock would be that the cleaning staff was not consistent. Some days everything was picked up, restocked, and there was attention to detail. Other days things were not replenished, forgotten, or surfaces were not wiped down. We would choose the Orchard again👍

Lounge/bar had no posted hours and was not open at times you would most likely use a hotel lounge. Room key needed constant reprogramming. Check in desk had no idea what they were doing. Room cleaning was very late. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Our previous stay was much better. The comfortable bed made up for a lot of deficiencies that you do not expect from a smaller/boutique style hotel.

Everyone was lovely and so helpful and kind. Very convenient location, so much to see and do in very walkable distances. Central to everything we wanted to see and do during our quick trip. Bed was incredibly comfortable. bathroom was great and had everything you could want. And the hotel is very eco friendly in highly practical ways (water stations in the lobby and throughout vs plastic water bottles as an example). Highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights. The beds were so comfortable. We appreciated the coffee pods and tea bags for the morning and mini fridge for keeping some small breakfast items. There are filtered water machines to fill the room jugs with throughout the hotel. It can be a bit of an uphill climb to the hotel depending on the direction you’re coming but that’s San Francisco. We also liked being near Chinatown for easy access to eateries, grocery stores, bakeries, and coffee shops. It was easy to access public transit and the cable car stop is right next to the hotel in the Powell/Bush intersection. We appreciated the attentive 24h front desk staff and got what we needed from them or delivered to our room by staff.

The property was clean and in a walkable area convenient to transportation. However, their website advertised a bar in the hotel. Upon checkin we learned the hotel bar was closed after Covid and was not expected to reopen. Totally false advertisement related to amenities. Also, there was only one ice machine in the building so you have to leave your floor to get ice. It was empty when we tried to obtain ice at the machine. We had to go to the lobby to ask for ice.

overall lovely and super staff. the bed was comfortable, the linens are clean, the room is calm and soothing. I was disappointed to learn that "limited room service hours" meant breakfast only. Also my room had an old guide in it which listed breakfast as being served until11am on weekends, and was very very sad on sunday when i called at 10:20 got a busy signal, and called back 15 minutes later only to be told the kitchen was closed. they made up for it by comping breakfast the next day, but i wish the info in my room had been up to date; i would have much rather paid and had breakfast than gotten the free one the next day.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Orchard Hotel. I'd asked for a quiet room if possible, and they kindly gave us one away from street and elevator noise. The bed was comfortable, there was a spacious bathroom, and parking was easy down the street at the Sutter/Stockton garage. We had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs (The Daffodil), and it was very good and the service excellent. Lots to do within a walkable distance of the hotel. We'd definitely stay there again.

The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful and courteous. The decor and furnishings are old-fashioned. It is a good value for the price except for the cost of breakfast. Wonderful boutique hotel within walking distance or short uber ride to all the attractions. Management and front desk are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and decorated nicely. I used to live in San Francisco so the location was safe and great for solo, couples or families. The restaurant had great eggs benedict and avocado sour dough toast.

The hotel itself and the staff was great. The only issue was they were having issues during my stay with no hot water, which was frustrating. It was great that the staff would check in via text to see how things were going, but never communicated that they were having issues - which was frustrating. They did comp my breakfast, which was nice. I would stay here again.. given the hot water issue problem is resolved.

10/10 will stay here again. Staff was incredible and treated us wonderfully. Rooms are a bit dated and could use new carpet and furniture. They’ve seen some better days. But lobby is beautiful. No on site parking. Must use the public parking garages nearby which are pricey. Location was perfect for walking around.
