The unit was speak and span, close to shops, grocery (Save on Food), well-equipped kitchenette, front desk ladies were helpful. Only thing is that the pool was charged extra even if we did not have the time to use it. Overall, we loved our 5 nights stay.

Our code to the room wasn’t set right off the bat. Issues with the code for the parkade. Wasn’t advised the pool was in another building so that would have made me try to change buildings for easier access. Room was very clean and well stocked and it was the nicest and most spacious hotel bathroom I’ve ever used.

Overall, it is a nice hotel. Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. However, it would be nice if it was mentioned that you need to go outside to get to the swimming pool. Sunset Mountain Inn and Spa is not connected to the building where swimming pool is located. Also, it would be nice if they provided bathrobes so you can comfortably cross the street to get to the swimming pool.

Good location with access to a pool, spa, BBQ and game room (only used the pool table). Reception people always happy to help. We used Canmore as our base to visit the national parks (Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, etc.), as well as Calgary.

Stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely. Check in and out super easy. Accessible parking and door codes instead of cards was so nice for us. Also loved the easy access pool and hot tub next door. Worth it in my option for the price and decently close to Banff. Would book here again.

Front desk staff were very accomodating, allowing us to check in early, and providing extra room supplies (Garbage bags, soap, playpen, extra sheets and blankets, etc). The room was clean and laid out well but the kitchen light made a weird hum, which was more annoying than anything. We just left the light off any time we weren't in the kitchen. The kiddie pool was a big hit with our kids (1.5 and 3.5) and the hot tub with outdoor feature was nice for the adults. The pool is in a different building but had bathrooms so we could change there rather than running outside in our bathing suits. Parking situation wasn't ideal as the parkade had a height limit of 6'1, which means most trucks are unable to park below ground. They do have above ground parking but it is fairly minimal, so I would recommend using a car or small SUV rather than any larger vehicles (That goes for virtually any hotel in the area). The hotel is easy to get to being right off Highway 1, and is only a 15 minute walk from Canmore Main Street which features restaurants and local shopping. Rocky Mountain Bagel Co is directly across the road and has amazing bagel sandwiches, highly recommend stopping there if you are in the area! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

This place is just average at best. It isn't set up very well, the pool and restaurant are actually in a different building. The pool had 10 burned out lights so was quite dark, very few chairs or areas to place tools or property and was dirty. There are many better options.

While this property is clearly showing its age, the service and amenities offered were wonderful. Checkin was quick and efficient, with lots of information provided. We had to change rooms during the stay, and front desk helpfully placed us in rooms side by side for an easy move. The room furnishings and common areas are showing their age, but everything was very clean. Access to green space outside, as well as the BBQs and firepit were great. It's not a five star hotel, but it was literally the cheapest in Canmore, so I'm super happy for what was offered. Only disappointment was that the hot tub was out of order, which was something we had really looked forward to while booking the room.

The property itself wasn’t wonderful. Definitely older and the stairwell housed bags of used bottles. They attempted to mask this with air freshener, it didn’t work. The smell permeated other areas and our room was close to the stairs. Wouldn’t recommend.

Friendly and helpful staff. They were able to answer my questions prior to arrival. Room was clean. We got upgraded to a larger room with a mountain view which was fantastic. Hallways under renovations but we didn’t notice any construction noise during our stay

You get what you pay for here. The room was almost exactly as pictured, and there was heated underground parking. A few negatives that we had were the room was not cleaned very well, when we checked in, our 3yr old found a napkin under the bed within 10 mins of being there. There were no towels available at the pool despite the front desk saying there would be, and because it is in a different building, I had to run across the parking lot soaking wet in the middle of winter to get towels from our room for the rest of my family. They also had a leak happen just down the hall from us the morning before we checked in and they had loud fans running 24/7. None of the games in the game room worked. The beds and bathroom were clean so that is one of the positives.

Where do I even begin with this property? Cannot check in till 5 pm, the front desk staff was fine but not overly concerned about helping guests. Our room was horrible, the floorboards were coming apart, the baseboards were gross and falling apart, the mirror in our bathroom was cracked, the tiles in the bathroom were coming off the walls and the room itself was just dirty. I don't even think the floors were washed, as it appeared to have something stuck on the floor. Someone had spilled something in the elevator and it smelled so bad. There is just a lack of cleanliness and upkeep at this hotel and I would be cautious about calling it a spa. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else. I will never stay here again and will let everyone I know not to as well.

Great location. About 25 mins to Banff. Lots of restaurants near hotel and downtown Canmore was only mins away. Hotel was fine. Few downsides…one tiny garbage can for the whole room, this room also had a kitchen so super inconvenient if you cooked. Also, room and hallway has a strong musty smell. First time staying at the Sunset Mountain Inn. Had a small kitchen in the room which was a nice addition and would be appealing for a longer stay. The one bedroom unit was good for 2 people. I found the room a bit warm and opening the window seemed to be the only way to cool it down. Road noise increased quite a bit when the window was open while it was not really noticeable when the window was closed. Underground parking was an added bonus.

The mattress really needs to be fixed or changed. The spring In the mattresses were sort of damaged hence couldn't sleep properly and our room had two beds, both in same condition. Rest we loved the place and convenient around the facility.

Nothing fancy, but had everything we needed. Underground parking was nice to have. The walls are a little thin and it was a bit odd for a suite to enter into the bedroom area, but it was fine for the one night we stayed.

Overall the property was fine, nothing was super standout amazing or terrible. The A/C only works above certain temperatures which left us hoping the one window and provided fan would cool the room enough to be comfortable (it didn't) and though a nice touch, most of the machines in the game room are semi-functional at best. It was a bit daunting figuring out where to go for the pool since it is located in a separate building, and the "change room" is non-existant but that would be on the other property to assess. Again, the experience was fine, the staff were friendly and welcoming, but this would not be my first choice for our next stay in Canmore.

We travelled in a group and had 3 rooms throughout the buildings. Currently, check-in is 5pm due to staff shortages. Frustrating but we were given access early. First off, there are codes for accessing different areas of the building. Take a cheat sheet... one for your door, one for the building, one for the parkade, a different one for the pool, different building... different code... but thats when they work. Trying to access the pool in the blizzard like conditions was unsuccessful and guest were left walking all the way around the building and accessing the pool through the lobby. Second complaint... hoping to relax and get a good sleep?... we had the heat off and the window open yet our room was 26 degrees the whole time. We could have used more than a couple hours sleep on top of the covers trying to cool off. Third strike... visiting friends on the fourth floor... broken elevator... that should be fun checking out with a family of four and all their luggage. The location of the property is nice. Its walkable to main street and lots of dining options. The pool is great for families although they refilled the hot tub one morning and failed to heat it. The main pool was cold but it was still enjoyable for the kids. Overall, the property is showing its age and is looking a little neglected. Our first and only stay. Would I recommend it to others?... definitely not.

Aside from the room being a little bit on the warm side, and the parkade being labelled something different than the resort name, everything was wonderful! Front desk closes at 11pm, but the staff made sure we had very detailed instructions, door codes, parking access, everything was so easy! Would absolutely stay here again!!

Rocky Mountain Bagel Co is directly across the road and has amazing bagel sandwiches, highly recommend stopping there if you are in the area! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be returning.
Front desk staff were very accomodating, allowing us to check in early, and providing extra room supplies (Garbage bags, soap, playpen, extra sheets and blankets, etc). The room was clean and laid out well but the kitchen light made a weird hum, which was more annoying than anything. We just left the light off any time we weren't in the kitchen. The kiddie pool was a big hit with our kids (1.5 and 3.5) and the hot tub with outdoor feature was nice for the adults. The pool is in a different building but had bathrooms so we could change there rather than running outside in our bathing suits. Parking situation wasn't ideal as the parkade had a height limit of 6'1, which means most trucks are unable to park below ground. They do have above ground parking but it is fairly minimal, so I would recommend using a car or small SUV rather than any larger vehicles (That goes for virtually any hotel in the area). The hotel is easy to get to being right off Highway 1, and is only a 15 minute walk from Canmore Main Street which features restaurants and local shopping. I cannot recommend this hotel, which was perfectly nice, because it is failing to deliver two of the most basic expectations for a hotel of any kind - security of its guests & their belongings, & availability of hotel staff. This hotel will not issue you a key to your room. Instead they give you a slip of paper with a 4-digit # written on it that you use on a pad on the door of your room. This means that anyone who sees this piece of paper, which you must use often to access parts of the hotel, can gain entrance to your room. If this paper is lost anyone who has it can gain access because it has the room number and the code, as opposed to traditional room card keys which do not indicate the room number. This is not a secure system. When I asked for a physical key to my room (the doors have card key locks) I was told that they had only 1 key and could not make me a copy, but would let me borrow the key for $100 extra deposit. But this would not work because I needed to leave at 8:00AM the next morning, and their front desk is not staffed (or, I learned the next morning, even accessible) until 9:00AM. This is the second problem with this hotel - they do not have a 24-hour staffed lobby so there is no way to address issues if you are leaving early. So I took my chances with security but you don't have to: stay somewhere else. To this hotel I say: get real and get real keys. There is a term for hotels that do not have a 24-hour staffed lobby: a 1-star hotel. You can do better

My family stayed at Sunset Mountain Inn and spa for 4 nights. The staff (Jackie and Ruth) were so welcoming and amazing. Our place was clean with all the amenities we needed. Pool and hot tub was a hit after a long day of walking. Views from our balcony was stunning. Bed was comfortable. My only concern was my bedroom curtains were not blackout so at 5:30am sunrise, brightness woke me up. I would definitely go back here and recommend it. You wont regret it.

We used this hotel after a late night flight from Calgary on our way to Jasper. We only stayed for 1 night, but the hotel was great. The room was clean and spacious. It was within walking distance of many stores and restaurants in Canmore. The hotel had a spa, which we did not use, but it looked nice. The underground parking was a bit unique, but once we figured it out, it was fine.

First time staying at the Sunset Mountain Inn. Had a small kitchen in the room which was a nice addition and would be appealing for a longer stay. The one bedroom unit was good for 2 people. I found the room a bit warm and opening the window seemed to be the only way to cool it down. Road noise increased quite a bit when the window was open while it was not really noticeable when the window was closed. Underground parking was an added bonus.

Good location with access to a pool, spa, BBQ and game room (only used the pool table). Reception people always happy to help. We used Canmore as our base to visit the national parks (Banff, Kootenay, Yoho, etc.), as well as Calgary.

I would definitely choose a different hotel next time. The pool is in a different hotel so you have to walk across the parking lot. The front desk is only available for limited hours and I had to leave a message in a voicemail to check out. It’s advertised as a resort with a pool and a number of other amenities like a massage/esthetics place but the pool is at another hotel and the massage place never answered the phone to make a booking and was closed the whole time we were there. It looks way better in the advertising than it actually is.

We had a pretty solid experience. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was decent. We had a major power outage during our stay and got moved from one hotel to another after booking months in advance. We also had some considerations with our shower.

Check in was easy, the front desk staff were very kind. The room was clean and very neat. Fairly priced. I did not go to the pool as it was super busy but the Grande restaurant was AMAZING! Definitely will stay here again.

I stayed there in October, so off season. The price for a one bedroom unit was very reasonable. Everything was clean and comfortable. Room service was good. Kitchenette was good, and everything worked, and being able to prepare a breakfast in the morning morning or a snack in the evening was nice.

We loved the unit that we booked. We cooked some simple meals in the microwave to save on expenses. We did enjoy a meal out next door at the Georgetown pub. It was excellent. The unit was perfect for a couple, quite roomy and the kitchen was well equipped. We would definitely enjoy a stay here again! Highly recommend this place to book. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub everyday too.
