Had a great stay at Douglas Hotel, with friends whilst attending a Dinner Dance in their Ballroom. Rooms very nice & spacious. Excellent breakfast on the Sunday morning. Pleasant staff throughout, from reception, bar in Malones to the breakfast staff. Would def stay again.

Our room on the first floor was above a very loud function. We were not told of the function. At 10 PM we called the front desk and they told us that they should have informed us of the function and moved us to the fourth floor. There was no working elevator and the fourth floor was 85° and there was no way to turn off the heat so we had to open the windows And then we could still hear the function from the first floor When we spoke to the staff about it, they could care less and we’re very rude

We were placed in a 1st floor above a room hosting an event. Very loud! They moved us to a 4th floor room at 10pm. They said we should have been warned. The elevator was broken at 10 PM. We had to move all of our belongings up for flights to our new room. That room was 80° and there was no way to turn down the heat. They shoukd gave refunded our room.

Excellent place to stay. Best value of the 6 places we visited in Scotland. Loved the photos in the lobby of the history of the hotel and Aberdeen. Did the bus tour around Aberdeen - very beautiful architecture everywhere. Also, live music in the hotel pub every night and we took full advantage of that.

Staff were great, as was the room (very spacious). Hotel is located in a convenient area with lots of restaurants and things to do within walking distance. My only issue was that there was some sort of benefit dinner/event being held in the event hall on the main floor, so it was very loud in our room late into the night.

Stayed in room 207, double and single bed. Single bed mattress was so thin and uncomfortable. The shower head also had loads of dust ontop as when i went to move shower head was all over my fingers. Location good but get people on the streets when pubs close so was noisey

We stayed for 4 nights. First night the room was cleaned next morning. The 2nd day bed linen was not changed . The 3rd day same thing no bed linen changed . Also the bathroom toilet was not cleaned and the plastic cups were taken and not replaced. Also the toilet paper was removed from the toilet hanger athough there was paper still on it and they did not replace it. Very poor housecleaning . Also resturant in the hotel messed up a dinner order and we finally recieved it 40 minutes later. It was only a ceaser salad with chicken on it. They did not charge me for the meal. Also no airconditioning, so the room was very hot. They did supply a small fan but it only helped a bit. Slept with two windows open all night but realy did not help . The only reason we booked this hotel was it was close to the train station that we arrived in . I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Because of the windows being open we heard a lot of noise frome the street. Tats what i meant by noisy. Hotel was quite inside.

Condition of the room was at best poor room was hot and stuffy so you had to open the window and the noise from outside was absolutely appalling the room was small with cracks on the walls window ingos were rotten and the tiles on the bathroom floor were missing grout and the finish of the room was incredibly poor

Friendly relaxed hotel in a good location for exploring Aberdeen. Very nicely decorated big bedroom & bathroom, big comfy bed. Been on a 2 week trip in Scotland staying at 6 hotels & the housekeeping & cleanliness of this room was by far the best.

Room 326 - the room was comfortable, but dated and in need of investment. The heater at the window didn't work, and the window was draughty, making the room temperature cold. Bathroom and shower were good. Throughout the stay, the service received was great.

Upon arrival the room was over 80 degrees. Super hot. We asked the front desk to assist and they told us they had no other fans or anything to give us. We were told by local people at the restaurant that the older hotels have issues where the upper floors get very hot. If you know this about you hotel, you should buy things to prepare for it. Install some additional fans or something. We went back down the desk twice to ask about it. They were very nice but could offer nothing to help. At one point a person even came up to the room and said "Wow it's very hot in here" but then proceeded to not be able to help. Overall not the most comfortable sleep at all for 2 days.

Staff was great. Breakfast was good — much better than American continental breakfasts but not as good as German or Italian breakfasts which are outstanding. The doors slam very loudly so I could hear anytime anyone was coming and going on my floor.

The room was lovely and the staff were much more polite this time (our last stay, they were quite rude and abrupt). The only thing myself and my husband weren’t happy with was the bed. We did not have a good sleep as the pillows were hard and the mattress was very uncomfortable. I would suggest getting a mattress topper. We loved the double bath. Overall a good stay just ashame we didn’t get a good sleep.

Great location! Just a few things to know, you don’t control the temperature in your room the hotel does so if cremate is your preferred temp then this will work for you. No mini fridge but they supply a kettle, I bought milk for my coffee however because the room was so hot it was bad before use. Opened the window during the day to cool down the room but had to shut it at night due to the noise.

Extremely noisy. This wouldnt be so bad if you could close the window, but the rooms are so hot, even with the radiator switched off, it is impossible to sleep with the window closed due to heat, and too noisy with it open.

Arrived late at night, tired and hungry only to be met with a «less than friendly» receptionist, I got the distinct impression that she wanted me out of sight as soon as possible. No smile, no hospitality whatsoever. Really? Where do they find these people? The staff I met in the morning was nice and polite. No complaints. The overall impression: nice rooms, breakfast is not included. Leaving is a much better experience than arriving.

The reception staff were very helpful in advising how to use the hotel avoiding the chargeable zones which are number recognition and a fine is sent. We managed to get a space a short distance away avoiding these zones. We liked our room. Really decent price for a Saturday night. Surrounded by bars and food options in ship row Staff were friendly & helpful Will stay again

Great staff, we had a problem with the window in the original apartment we booked. They couldn't solve the problem but were more than happy to move us to another Apartment a 2 minute walk away. Also offered for someone to come and help with our bags. Overall great experience and would happily stay again.

We checked in at 11:30pm only to find out rooom already occupied. The room occupants (including a young child) were understandably startled and afraid. We then had to wait for staff to knock on another room door (at midnight) to find us a room. No apology was offered and the receptionist couldn’t even stop what she was doing (cutting sellotape with her teeth!) and look me in the eye and apologize. Room (119 - avoid it) had a big pink stain on the carpet and water stains on the bedside table (you can remove that with a warm iron - google it).

We never actually made it to the hotel due to Storm Babet. It was impossible to travel to Aberdeen due to red weather warnings on the travel up. Contacted hotel to see if possible to re-arrange the stay but they just didn’t engage or respond to messages. I understand that it was a non-refundable room but since it was not our choice not to attend, I was hoping for some assistance. The fact they didn’t respond to messages and when phoned we were just told to speak with where we booked it.

Wonderful place. Staff was awesome and extremely helpful. Thank you charlotte for helping us navigate to your car park!! Breakfast was good and smoke. Room was comfortable. A bit of outside noise but it stopped before it got too late. Nice location. Our room was big.

Have been staying at The Douglas Hotel for over 15 years. I enjoy the location (close to train station). Staff is always friendly, professional and accommodating. The breakfast offers a lot of variety and is in a nice room. Also, Malone’s offers an authentic pub atmosphere. Can’t go wrong staying here and highly recommend.

Located on a busy street with no area to park for check-in, better pre-check-in instructions needed for arriving travellers, night parking inadequate. But all staff were friendly and helpful. Close to the very good maritime museum.

Even if from out side the hotel look like old and grey once that you are inside all the furnishings are good. Reception and lobby are good - receptionist are very friendly. Room are good bath clean. Hotel is located in the city centre at 2 minutes of the bus station reachable from the airport by bis 727. At 3 min by walk there is also the train sttion and a car park (£6 per day). Around there are pub cafe an restaurant. All attraction are reachble in 5 min by walk.

We have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. It is an older property but it is very comfortable. The beds are excellent and the facilities are ideal. There is a very good buffet breakfast available and a good bar downstairs. The staff are all very nice and I really can't fault this place. I have no hesitation in recommending staying here.

Almost a perfect stay. However if you don’t go for breakfast till around 10am, and as it was a buffet breakfast the items sadly were lukewarm. Did not see a microwave so made do.

Only stayed for a night. Hotel is really close to Union Square & the rail station, Union Street, Maritime Museum and eveyrthing else youre likely to want in Aberdeen. Room was spacious, clean and confortable. Breakfast was reslly good and worth the extra few pounds.

Very close to bus and train station so able to walk to property on arrival. Liked the hotel but our neighbour in next room kept banging the door shut. He also tried the door to our room at midnight on our first night. Not sure if drunk or just didn't realise it wasn't his room but woke us all up. Our door was double locked but we did get a fright. Perhaps the hotel could invest in slow closing hinges for the loud banging as the doors very heavy. The breakfast food wasn't very hot and the first morning we couldn't eat the omelette as it smelt funny. Wasn't sure if eggs were off. The staff were quick to remove when I notified them. The third morning all the breakfast was lovely so not sure if different cooks. The milk also needs put in the fridge or in something that keeps it cold as the milk for the tea on the third morning was off and we had to ask for different cup as it was floating with the bits of milk. Can I suggest using the fridge for the fruit and yogurts. If the bowls were placed elsewhere there would be room in the bottom for the jug of milk.
