The room was fantastic, comfortable and quiet! The on site pool and hot tub are definitely something to experience!

We had a great stay here. Very close to downtown Banff and we found it easy to walk to most of the places we wanted to see. Also close to main transportation hub for Lake Louise, Lake Minnewanka, Banff Springs Hotel and Gondola etc. The only thing was the pool and fitness centre only open at 10 am, a bit late for me, but probably fine for most people who would rather swim/work out in the evening (both are open until 11 pm).

Good, classic hotel with a nice lobby bar and a decent pool/hot tub/steam room to relax in.

Overpriced when compared to neighboring properties. Spa is in poor condition. Restaurant marginal. Go down the road toward downtown you’ll find superior properties for less

Nice place, a bit dated and limited in the bar and restaurant, but nice. The pool area with steam room and hot tub exceeded expectations.

I stayed at the Royal Canadian Lodge from October 20–23 and had an awful experience. When we checked in, there was no notice that the hotel was under construction. Nothing was mentioned on Hotels.com when we booked. We were told later that work would start at 9 a.m., but it actually began at 8 a.m. every morning and was so loud it felt like drilling inside the room. I could not watch TV, make calls, or work. When I brought it up, staff said there was nothing they could do. The gym was completely broken, with no working machines and barely any space. It should not be advertised as a gym at all. The worst part was how my business partner’s wife was treated. He had left her name and a key with the front desk, but when she arrived late that night, the staff ignored her while she stood outside in the cold. Making eye contact then opting not to let buzz her into the warmth. Another employee eventually let her in but refused to help when she explained what happened. We had to leave our event early due to the staff refusing to help when we called the lobby to explain as well. Not acceptable. When we told management the next day, they brushed it off and didn’t even ask for details. Between the noise, broken facilities, and rude staff, this hotel completely failed to deliver what was promised. I will never stay here again and strongly recommend others avoid it.

Clean room, wonderful pool, hot tub and steam room

The only down side was that the hot tub was way too cold, then way too hot (over 104).

Great place but did not like that there was a $20 a day parking fee with stay, where else did they expect us to park.

Overall, my stay was pretty good. The dining options were solid but nothing special. Everyone I interacted with was nice. When I needed bandaids, they provided them for me. However, my first night there, I thought I heard something rustling through my (closed) food. Brushed it off. But my last night there, I got back to my hotel and noticed two snack bags empty in the floor with holes chewed in them. When I brought this to their attention, they said they’d check the lock to make sure no one was in the room. I argued that it wasn’t a “someone” so they finally agreed to look for signs of an animal. The maintenance guy who “checked” said there were no holes in the walls and asked if I was sure food was in the bags. 30 minutes later, I spotted the rodent scurry across my room. They gave me a new room and only comped my breakfast the next morning. I wouldn’t have even mentioned this has the front desk person and maintenance guys were so dismissive of my concern. I’m not an idiot but I was treated like one.

Hotel is nice but definitely dated. Few things didn't work quite properly. Room is not properly cleaned upon chicken but they did send somebody immediately after I called. Elevators seemed kind of sketchy as they continued movement when the doors were still open. All in all, a good hotel but probably not worth quite what we spent

Clean room and friendly staff.

We have stayed here numerous times before and find that it is clean and comfortable, and a good location for walking downtown st a reasonable price. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The one place I think that could be improved is the maintenance of the property. Our exterior door handle was loose, the hinge cover in the ladies washroom by the pool was hanging off, the bathtub in one of the rooms would not drain and would leak onto the floor, and exhaust vents were layered in dust. These are simple things to rectify that would make a better impression.

We had to pay an additional 20$ for parking which we didn’t know about until we got there. We found a cockroach in our room.

there were cracks in the bathroom floor that could cut a person’s foot. Not one day did they replace the towels properly after cleaning. Sometimes we had a full set and sometimes not.

Very dark room sticky floors sink was dirty

The room was fairly large and we really enjoyed the large bathroom. Sheets were too small for bed so my feet touched the actual bed. I did not like that. The mineral pool and whirlpool were nice. They could use a cleaning to remove excess grout that collected at the bottom of the pools. I expected parking to be included and was advised at the property it was extra. I guess I should have checked better at booking. Check in was good but I would recommend telling visitors the internet password and when check out time is. For checkout, it was quick and easy. There was no offer to provide me a bill nor was I asked about my stay. I assumed I would have received a bill via email, nothing came. I would have appreciated a bill. Overall it was a nice place to stay.

Beautiful lodge. Walking distance to downtown Banff. Only concern was the hotel water in rooms took 10 minutes to heat )in shower and sink). Otherwise, would stay here again!

We were there from Sunday until Tuesday, got a room upgrade, which was nice and appreciated, however, there was no hot water for a shower late in the afternoon on Monday and the hot tub was out-of-service as well. On Tuesday morning there was still no hot water to shower. We reported it when we checked out and the front desk staff apologized for an unexpected problem. RCL is not an inexpensive hotel in Banff and they should have been able to offer more than just an apology for what was no hot water during our stay.

Room is specious, but dated. It is not worthy of the price.

Room was very nice, good beds, lots of plugs for charging. Although we were on the main drag, it was quiet. All the amenities you would need, iron & ironing board, fridge, robes to wear from the pool. There was an exercise room & hot tub by the pool. Internet was good. Concierge was most helpful. I wish there would've been a microwave in the room though. Very easy to get to sightseeing but Banff Avenue was very busy this time of year.

Value for size of room was not good. Very small room.

Loved the efficient check in service! Our Junior Suite was SWEET! Very spacious and comfy sitting room and bedroom area and bathroom was top notch! , bathroom was well supplied with amenities and shower was divine. Only downsize was the staff in the bar area who appeared to be inexperienced in mixing and knowledge of beverages offered.

Clean, comfortable and spacious room—we had a junior suite. Nice amenities and loved the gas fireplace. The pool and hot tub area were nice, though not very large. In general the decor is showing its age, but is well maintained.

Best mattress and pillows I have had on my week long trip. Beautiful room and very convenient being right downtown Banff. I will book here again for sure. Room was great and had a fantastic sleep

Stayed in a junior suite. I was very disappointed at the accommodations. The room was a fairly good size but very outdated decor. The room looks like it was done in the 90’s, down to the small jetted tub. Cracked tile in the bathroom. The bath towels were probably the smallest and thinnest towels I have seen in a hotel. For the price paid for the upgraded room I would expect more. Definitely not worth the cost and I would not stay there in the future unless it underwent a major renovation

Concierges & front desk staff were attentive & very very helpful. Went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable & smooth!

Safe parking Staff was very nice

Staff were great! Helpful, attentive and responsive as well as cheerful and knowledgeable.

We originally booked one night through Expedia and then extended for a second night because we enjoyed the first. Unfortunately, our experience during the second night was very disappointing. When we returned to our room around 10:20 pm on our second night, it had not been serviced—no clean towels, no made beds, nothing refreshed or cleaned. Exhausted, we went to reception and asked for cleaning. No one apologized; instead, we felt as though I was inconveniencing the staff. At first we were told nothing could be done, and only later were we informed that someone would be sent. We left for a walk to give housekeeping time to do the job, but when we returned around 11:20 pm, only towels had been placed in the room. We went back to reception to explain this was not acceptable and requested that the room be properly cleaned. Eventually, someone came again and basic cleaning was only completed around 12:15 am. By that time, it was far too late for us to get proper rest before our long drive back to North Vancouver the next day. Already exhausted, we had to drive anyway. To make matters worse, there was also a spider in the washroom. For the high price we paid, the level of service provided did not reflect the standard expected.

I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is clean and set in a quiet location, which made it very relaxing, yet it’s only a 10–15 minute walk to downtown—perfect for exploring the area. The room was spacious, and I especially loved the large, well-designed bathroom, which made the stay even more comfortable. Another great convenience is the Route 1 bus stop right next to the hotel, making it very easy to get around without any hassle. Overall, it felt like the perfect balance of comfort, peace, and accessibility.

Stayed here few years ago great place to be. Had to check out day early for an emergency at work. they refused to give me any money back for the extra night I did not even stay at hotel when we were out of there before check out time. Sad to see some of these nicer hotels get ruined by horrible management and terrible customer service. Will not be coming back here

Staff was great. Overall, great experience.

The concierge, Neil, was outstanding. His knowledge, efficiency, patience & friendly personality made our 5-day trip effortless. Check-in & check-out were a breeze. The location was perfect. We never needed to move our car until it was time to check out. Walkability to shopping, restaurants, & trails was perfect. Highly recommend the trail to the Bow River Falls!! Also highly recommend Farm & Fire (dinner) & Toulooloo’s (breakfast)

This property was perfect for a weekend, 2-night stay in Banff! The property is located right in the heart of Banff and all shopping and dining downtown Banff is less than a 10 minute walk down the road. The hotel had all amenties needed for a trip. Great and friendly staff as well!

Great location in the heart of Banff. Easy access and underground parking a plus. Very nice staff.

Good choice for an affordable stay on Banff Avenue. It's a bit of a walk to the stores, approx. 8 mins, but it's quieter at that end of the avenue, which is a bonus. There are lots of restaurants and cafes close by too. Our king suite was lovely, spacious, and had everything we could ask for regarding our comfort. The staff at the front desk were really pleasant and welcoming each time we entered the hotel.

Short walk to the heart of Banff. Good hotel overall.

Great location right on Main Street about a 5m walk from the center of town (restaurant downstairs and Chili's next door if you don't feel like walking). Rooms were large and largely sound proof. Staff were very friendly. Would stay here again if we ever return to Banff.

The room was very spacious and clean, fireplace was a nice bonus. The hot tub and pool area was amazing. We loved that it has room service - and the food on site was tasty and well priced. We come to Banff a lot and have found a gem with this hotel. Can’t wait to be back.

Breakfast was not free. It was an extra charge of $26 per person for a typical buffet so we ate down the road with more choices.

Restaurant was poor - quality of service, food and value were all poor.

Neil was fantastic and had wonderful ideas of how to spend the day. Restaurant and bar leave a lot to be desired. Service was poor, food was medicore at best

The hotel is quite nice. Loved the fireplace, room was very large and comfortable. Dining was another story. Though their website said they were open until 10, we arrived just before 9pm to find them closed. We ended up eating at Chili's... ok but we had passed up a number of places trying to get to the hotel. The next morning we saw the menus in the case with a number of excellent options for breakfast, only to find that none of these existed and we had only the buffet. The buffet was fine, though they kept running out of stuff. Clearly they were understaffed in the dining room. It was a shame because the hotel was otherwise quite nice.

We used to stay at this property when it was affiliated with Delta. Although the rooms are well appointed and clean, the lobby services leave something to be desired. The front desk was well staffed, courteous and accommodating. The restaurant, only being open certain hours meant that we went elsewhere for meals and the lounge also had extremely limited availability, often being closed early if no one was occupying it. The 1 time we did use it, I ordered an Irish coffee, and because they didn’t have whip cream, they added cream which simply made for a cold glass of coffee. The welcoming fireplace was only lit once in the 4 nights we stayed. As some of the family retires earlier than others, the TV room off of the front desk was utilized each night for games or reading. It was rarely clean from previous usage, didn’t have much in the way of seating and was cool without the heat from the fireplace.
