Location is beautiful along the river, nice to sit next to it at breakfast, restaurant in evening or just take something to drink. Hotel is a little bit older but everything works fine. Good to be able to use Health center/gym during departure day. Then it’s able to store a small bag with extra cloths, showers & toilet available to prepare for departure. Pool location is nice, staff is really helpful. Nothing to complain about.

We stayed in a Deluxe Suite in the Krungthep wing and it was one of the best “rooms” i have ever stayed in. The suite is more like a 2 room apartment, with separate large bathroom and an additional powder room fitted with its own toilet. The rooms are fitted with chandeliers, drapes and lovely furniture which exude a regal warmth and charm not found in most modern hotels. The rooms include complementary access to both the Shangri-La breakfast buffet and Horizon club (which is a must do experience located on the 24th floor of the Shangri-La wing, particularly the canapés sitting in the evening which serves complimentary cocktails and a good selection of food). Krungthep wing residents may use either of the two pools - we preferred the quieter Krungthep pool and the personal service but the choice is yours. The hotel is located overlooking the Chao Phraya river in arguably one of the best locations adjacent to the rail station, water taxi port and diagonally opposite the fantastic IconSiam shopping centre (a must see for Bangkok visitors - the hotel provides a regular complimentary shuttle service). Overall a wonderful hotel, great location and fantastic service (a big shout out to TonTon). Don’t think about it - just book a stay, you won’t regret it.

Great hotel - but still with an UNWILLINGNESS to manage the sun beds at the pool side. There are signs to forbid blocking of sun chairs - but over many years we have experienced a total unwillingness by management to manages the situation. This sadly takes the hotel down to a three star hotel - like stout operator hotel!!

The staff inconveienced all the guests for a conference by sending people to the backdoor to enter and exit the hotel. Aggressive security on each floor asking you where going and pointing and leading you directed to an elevator. Very weird. Weight room was inaccessible for 4 or 5 night of the stay. Every morning and evening the lobby was blocked off for such event. I made this reservation a year in advance, and carefully planned everything to have these guys inconvenience me and belittle me. When telling management about these issues, they kindly gave me a box of chocolates. So I kindly decided to leave this review. A few guests shouldn’t impact other guests experiences without financial consequences, not an stupid box of chocolates and letter groveling about your ineptness.

We had a spectacular Premier balcony room with a corner of windows overlooking the river! It was perfectly cleaned each day and perfect in every way. I recommend to splurge on this. The buffet at the Next2 Cafe had an impressive array of delicious offerings. The location was also near perfect within walking distance to breakfast, lunch , dinner, massage, MRT, ferries, and even a money exchange next door. A great base to explore anywhere you want to go. The pool was great to enjoy after a hot day around town. The service was also impressive in every aspect. We took the complementary shuttle service to the pier area multiple times a day. Every staff member greeted us with a smile and a welcome back. We also stayed in 5 star hotels in Shanghai and Singapore during our trip, but this was the best overall experience. Now I know why it’s called the Shangri-La!

Vi bodde i Krungthep wing och det var lugnt och skönt. Det hade varit trevligt med en bar i lobbyn. Så bra service vid front desk och vid poolen. Vid poolen vid Shangri La wing paxades solstolar väldigt tidigt på morgonen. Det fanns alltid solstolar men i skuggan. Inget paxande vid poolen vid Krungthep Wing däremot väldigt mycket skugga där. Bra frukost och mycket att välja på. Gymmet var toppen, trångt om man kom efter 07.30. Hotellet har ett mycket bra läge nära kommunikationer samt att matmarknad och varuhus precis utanför. Vi rekommenderar verkligen detta hotell

Pros: Shuttle boats and boat tours are convenient to access. Pool & lounge area was relaxing. Neighborhood felt safe and was walkable. Breakfast buffet was really great…don’t miss the Thai cuisine outside! Tons of food options at the hotel itself and surrounding area. Cons: Room wasn’t very clean and smelled musty and of urine at times.

We stayed in the old section of the hotel which made it very difficult to get to the main lobby and restaurant's, pool etc. We were told when booking it was the quiet part of the hotel? Fabulous stay in a beautiful hotel. Loved the river view room. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb. We had the most amazing meal in the Thai restaurant. The hotel is convenient for getting around via the river or train.

We stayed in a Deluxe Suite in the Krungthep wing and it was one of the best “rooms” i have ever stayed in. The suite is more like a 2 room apartment, with separate large bathroom and an additional powder room fitted with its own toilet. The rooms are fitted with chandeliers, drapes and lovely furniture which exude a regal warmth and charm not found in most modern hotels. The rooms include complementary access to both the Shangri-La breakfast buffet and Horizon club (which is a must do experience located on the 24th floor of the Shangri-La wing, particularly the canapés sitting in the evening which serves complimentary cocktails and a good selection of food). Krungthep wing residents may use either of the two pools - we preferred the quieter Krungthep pool and the personal service but the choice is yours. The hotel is located overlooking the Chao Phraya river in arguably one of the best locations adjacent to the rail station, water taxi port and diagonally opposite the fantastic IconSiam shopping centre (a must see for Bangkok visitors - the hotel provides a regular complimentary shuttle service). Overall a wonderful hotel, great location and fantastic service (a big shout out to TonTon). Don’t think about it - just book a stay, you won’t regret it.

The Shangri-La Bangkok is a lovely hotel with loads of old-fashioned charm. But there are little things that make it less than perfect. In our day and age, instant coffee in a five-star hotel room is just not acceptable. I had a coffee machine in a three-star in Krabi. Also, it was impossible to lower the air-conditioning. There were two settings, polar and off. Besides that, I enjoyed the hotel, its beautiful grounds, the breakfast, the great location and my wonderful river view.

The buffet at the Next2 Cafe had an impressive array of delicious offerings. The location was also near perfect within walking distance to breakfast, lunch , dinner, massage, MRT, ferries, and even a money exchange next door. A great base to explore anywhere you want to go. The pool was great to enjoy after a hot day around town. The service was also impressive in every aspect. We took the complementary shuttle service to the pier area multiple times a day. Every staff member greeted us with a smile and a welcome back. We also stayed in 5 star hotels in Shanghai and Singapore during our trip, but this was the best overall experience. Now I know why it’s called the Shangri-La!

The staff inconveienced all the guests for a conference by sending people to the backdoor to enter and exit the hotel. Aggressive security on each floor asking you where going and pointing and leading you directed to an elevator. Very weird. Weight room was inaccessible for 4 or 5 night of the stay. Every morning and evening the lobby was blocked off for such event. I made this reservation a year in advance, and carefully planned everything to have these guys inconvenience me and belittle me. When telling management about these issues, they kindly gave me a box of chocolates. So I kindly decided to leave this review. A few guests shouldn’t impact other guests experiences without financial consequences, not an stupid box of chocolates and letter groveling about your ineptness.

This is one of the best places my wife and I have ever stayed! We’ve travelled all over the world, all of Europe, UK, Iceland, Tokyo etc. The concierge services were always phenomenal. The staff that manned the door and arrival area always kept an eye on us and helped with taxis and Tuk Tuk service. The front desk were amazing! The hotel was chic, modern, ultra clean, and located in a perfect spot on the river, just across from IconSiam Mall, with a free boat ride back and forth! My favorite thing? BREAKFAST!! We were stunned by the quality and quantity of the breakfast foods from all over the world! We tried every countries breakfast foods and it was stunning! This hotel is magnificent. We’re already planning a return trip to Bangkok and this is the place we will stay. 100% recommendation!

Location is beautiful along the river, nice to sit next to it at breakfast, restaurant in evening or just take something to drink. Hotel is a little bit older but everything works fine. Good to be able to use Health center/gym during departure day. Then it’s able to store a small bag with extra cloths, showers & toilet available to prepare for departure. Pool location is nice, staff is really helpful. Nothing to complain about.

Disappointing, the pool area is cramped, difficult to get sunbeds, though I appreciate thus us the busiest time of year, towels were stained and sunbed mattresses are distinctly grubby looking. Breakfast time is crazy busy with long queues. We could have had breakfast in lounge, but more choice downstairs, so we opted to join queues. Beds are hard but comfortable, though rooms suffer from both street and adjacent bedroom noise. The windows don't seem to be double glazed and are old allowing sound to transmit even at 24th floor. We were in room 2402, adjacent to a family with children and could clearly hear them. We came to the long bar last year as outsiders and loved it, but this year the experience left something to be desired as Singapore sling served in cheap half pint type glass. I pay a premium for the surroundings and experience, part of which is the type of glass a nice cocktail should be delivered in. The staff who resolved the issue though were first class, but it should not have happened in first place.

Fantastic hotel in a great location, near both river and metro stations. Beautiful pool and outside area. Horizon Club is excellent with great food at all times of day and lovely evening canape / drinks time. Was nice that no children were in Horizon Lounge in the evenings.

This is one of the best places my wife and I have ever stayed! We’ve travelled all over the world, all of Europe, UK, Iceland, Tokyo etc. The concierge services were always phenomenal. The staff that manned the door and arrival area always kept an eye on us and helped with taxis and Tuk Tuk service. The front desk were amazing! The hotel was chic, modern, ultra clean, and located in a perfect spot on the river, just across from IconSiam Mall, with a free boat ride back and forth! My favorite thing? BREAKFAST!! We were stunned by the quality and quantity of the breakfast foods from all over the world! We tried every countries breakfast foods and it was stunning! This hotel is magnificent. We’re already planning a return trip to Bangkok and this is the place we will stay. 100% recommendation!

Hotel service is brilliant but certain things are starting to look a bit tired & worn. Stayed for a week in an Horizon Club room. Club lounge seats were a bit frayed and they could do with a bit more variety in food & canapés on offer. The selection of food for breakfast in the Next Cafe was very much the same every day & they no longer offer fresh coconut milk from the nut. We will probably return again
