Inns of Mendocino

Super clean room. Very quiet. Loved the wine and cheese hour and breakfast delivered to my room. Will definitely stay again.

Our stay in Mendocino was excellent. The room was extremely clean, check in was seamless, breakfast was brought to our door (Wow) and was tasty. The location made movement in Mendocino easy and while the weather wasn't conducive to sitting outside, the courtyard was lovely and would have been a great place to hang out. Finally, we were treated to a wine and cheese happy hour each day. The experience was worth the price of admission.

Nice room including the absolute best shower ever experienced in a hotel or inn stay. The staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was individually delivered to our room. Nice! Parking was free but some what limited on site. Only downside and the reason for four stars instead of five were the pillows the did not provide the support I have become accustomed to at home. Definitely would stay here again.

Nice room (208) with a good view of the ocean! But from mid-morning until late evening the huge exhaust fan in the restaurant across the street made keeping the window closed a necessity and shortened our time on the otherwise nice deck. Suggest selecting a different facing room. The breakfasts are delivered around 9am - perhaps later than many prefer - and didn't have the usual daily fresh pastry, eggs, waffles, French toast, etc: nice oatmeal with a good scone one day, and a veggie sort of stew with bread the next. Nice wine and cheese in the afternoons.

Staff was welcoming and helpful. Long stairway up to 2nd floor rooms. Daily wine and cheese hour was very nice. Breakfast was delivered to room, and although well made and unique, did not provide alternative choices, unless you asked for specific items in advance.

Great property! Staff was excellent, and helped us deal with a medical incident. Location is excellent and they have a daily wine tasting!

Great breakfast, wine hour and walkable location

The trench in the front of the property makes it difficult to park in front . Also sketchy for walking out. Wish the hot water came on faster, with the water situation what it is in town it would be nice not to have to run the water forever before it gets warm!

I loved staying at the Inn. The breakfast was the best part, plus the location and decor. The only minor issue was that the none of the windows in the tower opened so the room was musty. Otherwise, everything was great.

Room selected: King Deluxe at Packard House Length of Stay: three days, two nights Pros: - super delicious breakfast at your door every morning! - free wine and cheese happy hour! - super comfy bed - fireplace was a nice bonus - soaking tub was WONDERFUL - view from the Chapman room (King Deluxe at Packard House) was phenomenal. I could see the waves from bed! - easy to find parking - location was great, could walk around town very easily - housekeeping was lovely Cons: - soaking tub was plugged in which resulted in air being blown every 10 minutes. This continued after I emptied the tub of water and could not figure out how to turn it off. I tried searching online for instructions but couldn't find any documentation. I ended up calling the overnight innkeeper who helped me figure out where it was plugged in. the jets in the tub were also not quite clean; when I was draining the tub of water there were bits of detritus that were at the bottom which was pretty gross. - other reviews have complained of ants, I also had some ants in the room. However, this is a coastal town and there are just going to be ants. In my three day stay, I only saw 5 ants and none of them were near the bed which is pretty much the only place that I would freak out about them being. - other reviews have also complained about low doors and showers. the low door is only at the entrance of the room and is not that big a deal. the shower being small and cramped is slightly true but it's not impossible.

Unique BnB charm with attention to detail and modern cleaning protocols. Highly recommend for a quiet, convenient location and a true “Mendo” experience.

The town of Mendocino is so very unique and definitely now one of the best places we have ever stayed in around the world. And our stay at Packard House complimented that perfectly. The accomodation was beautifully clean, tidy and in keeping with the picture perfect clapperboard houses next to am unbelievably stunning coastline.

The Captains Room was an absolute delight to stay at. Everything was spotless, linens made us want to never leave the bed. We had everything we needed to have the best night of our vacation. Only problem was that we were not able to stay longer. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic stay. Room was clean and beautifully decorated, breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly. Great communication. Bathroom could use a bit if updating. Shower was tiny and a bit strange that the coffee bar was in the bathroom. That said, we would recommend to anyone looking for a nice stay in the area. Thank you

I recently stayed at the Blue Door Inns and had a fantastic experience. The room was beautifully decorated, clean, and cozy, making it feel like a home away from home. Great location! Fireplace didn’t work, but staff very friendly and gave us a bottle of wine to make up for it. Fortunately we stayed when it wasn’t too cold!

However rooms were very poorly furnished--no bureaus, closets or any other place to put clothes or other items , and walls were paper thin.sovthat we could hear every step of neighboring guests.

Lovely suite, crazy comfortable bed! The only thing is that there’s a huge “soaking tub.” It’s actually a tub with jets that bubble, but the jets have been turned off because there was too much noise. So, this is just a big waste of water if someone uses it. It seems a big waste of space, and the space could be used for something better. A closet, perhaps, or an area for shelving - there’s no where to put clothes.

The room is small and there is nowhere to store luggage or your clothing aside from a small hanging area. The tub is listed as a soaking tub only so if you are hoping the jets in the tub work, they won’t. They have been turned off likely to prevent noise disturbances to your neighbors. It is walking distance to all the local shops and restaurants and walking paths to views is the ocean from the JD house was only 5 mins. I wasn’t expecting a large room and the lack of storage didn’t bother me, but I could see these things being an issue for someone elderly or someone who had a hard time getting around. I definitely wouldn’t recommend bringing children to this place as it is such tight quarters. All that aside, I loved the location, thought the room was super cute and couldn’t ask for a better view:) I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights in the JD house king guestroom for $250/night. I would give it 3.5 stars. Pros: -Great location. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, and gorgeous coastal trails. -Wine + charcuterie hour with complimentary cookies (only for 1 hour) -Breakfast was good + different each day Cons: -Bed was pretty uncomfortable. i texted the guest services # asking if they had any padding for the bed as I was experiencing physical pain after the 1st night. The response i got was basically "no we don't, every room has that mattress and I've never had any complaints." Apparently it was a new employee + i did receive an apology + extra pillows after i asked for some, but it left me feeling like they need to do some customer service training for their newbies. -Bathroom is SMALL and water pressure is minimal in tiny shower. -The only fridge is a very small communal one downstairs. -Breakfast was delivered around 9:20am. It did feel a tad late for breakfast, especially when you want to go out and explore. -Bedside lamp was on when we arrived, and was burning hot when i went to turn it off. Overall, i feel like what you're getting for the price just isn't worth it, other than location.

All the staff we had contact with were very helpful, pleasant. The breakfast was brought to our door each morning and the food was amazing. Each day's breakfast was different from the day before. Eggs souffle, poached another day with roasted potatoes, quinoa w/fruit, yogurt and fruit, orange juice everyday, and great coffee and tea. We satyed in a converted Water tower that was incrediblely cute and the beds were super comfortable. Great place!

It is actually three inns with the Blue Door Inn being the main Inn. Check-in, wine and cheese and if early breakfast is needed you must go to the Blue Door Inn. Staff is nice, responds to calls timely (because no one is at the other Inns, which felt very strange to us) staff are very busy covering three inns. The breakfasts are excellent and compliments to the chef and the cookies are wonderful! The Inns are beautifully decorated but personally when staying at a B&B we would prefer to have all services at the inn we are staying at. My paper work from Hotels.com said the name of one inn but we were told we were staying in a different inn. It was very confusing and a little frustrating but all three inns are very nice so it was fine.

It would have been nice to get a heads up that we were not staying at the main house. That way we would not have carried our bags all the way.

It was so relaxing. We received many texts from the staff about arriving after hours and how to enter the Packard House. Receiving a basket of breakfast every morning was absolutely wonderful. We stopped by the main house to eat their hand baked cookies. Absolutely wonderful stay and would come back.

Wonderful stay! Easy check in, rooms a quaint and very comfortable. So much better than a chain hotel. Mendocino is wonderful little town with majestic ocean views.

The response i got was basically "no we don't, every room has that mattress and I've never had any complaints." Apparently it was a new employee + i did receive an apology + extra pillows after i asked for some, but it left me feeling like they need to do some customer service training for their newbies. -Bathroom is SMALL and water pressure is minimal in tiny shower. -The only fridge is a very small communal one downstairs. -Breakfast was delivered around 9:20am. This was a beautiful BnB…perfect to come to after a day of driving. In the morning, a little breakfast tote was left by our door—coffee, juice, scone, muesli, and a breakfast burrito. So cute and very tasty. Easy to walk to restaurants and shops. The bluffs nearby were a treat to walk. We would definitely stay here again!

The B&B at Inns of Mendocino was outstanding. Quirky stand-alone room built like a water tower as part of JD House. Location was walking distance to shopping, restaurants and art studios.

The staff are very kind and polite, always ready to help. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying, with plenty of options. The lobby had a peaceful atmosphere, and the room was clean and spacious. We found everything about the Blue Door, to be excellent, and the Baked egg breakfast was so special we had to ask for (and got) the recipe - we will be back.
