Fantastic hotel. Great bar area and restaurant. The room was large and comfortable and in the large annex at the back so was really quiet. The staff were amazing. So helpful and friendly and the breakfast and evening happy hour were amazing.

Really beautiful property, well appointed bathrooms, beautifully decorated rooms, very very comfortable. Delicious breakfasts, nice bar. Right across the street from the main drag of Canterbury. Half a block from train and bus. I had a car, and it cost me nearly £100 for the 4 days I had to park my car--it's a shame guests can't park for free or at least at a reduced rate. It's my only complaint.

Comfortable superior double room in a part of the hotel separate to the main building. Good breakfast. Well located to explore all Canterbury’s key attractions, restaurants, shops & theatre. Didn’t need to use the car once we parked in the car park &£12 for 24 hours via the ring go app.

All good apart from the parking arrangements with a third party,had great difficulty with registration on line or over phone so had to get reception to sort it out very stressful.Why do you have to have a third party to manage your car park?

Stayed on a Friday night . Availed if happy hour with beautiful live jazz band music in the background. Staff so genuinely friendly . Interior decor is gorgeous. Normally book a 4 star hotel but this stay has changed our minds ! Well done falstaff !

Fantastic decor and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Really nice atmosphere in the cocktail bar over the weekend, could have done with an additional staff member as cocktails can take a while to make and if you just want a beer or glass of wine, then its a little wait, however lovely surroundings to wait in. Everything you may like to do in Canterbury is within easy walking distance and some lovely restaurants right on your doorstep. Parking is an additional cost, I hadn't really noticed this when booking, also the fact that if you go out in the car, you may not have a space to come back to even though you have paid for 24hours. We just managed to get the last space in the little back car park on the second evening, but it's a very tight entrance which some vehicles may struggle to use. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others, it was just unfortunate we needed to use the car for work so there felt a little jeopardy as to whether we would get parked when we got back.

Firstly we appreciated the location, a 10 minutes stroll from Canterbury West Station and once booked in even less time wandering into the city centre. The Reception staff were welcoming and our room No21 was at the front, a very comfortable junior suite with the addition of an L shaped sofa and lots of comfy cushions. The bathroom was a bath with shower overhead which suited us as we enjoy both, the water instantly hot and quick, it took no time at all to have a soak. Being at the front meant hearing 'lifes' noises, traffic, voices etc , the hotel is located on a busy road entering the city, its expected and we didn't find it disturbing. Yes we heard the bin lorry but bins need emptying and early morning collection's we guess are best in a busy city with old roads that need to keep traffic moving. There is no restaurant ( only for breakfast) but there are plenty nearby. However we were encouraged to sit in the bar prior to going out with their 241 cocktail wine or beer happy hour. All in all a very enjoyable stay so thank you, we will be certainly stay again.

Convenient location. Walkable to everything in town. Bathroom toilet and tub gurgle and spout nasty water about 2-3 inches up from the drain, very visible and smells awful. This is sewer gas. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Check-in is rigid, even if the room is ready and cleaned, you cannot check in until 3 pm - period. A long line forms at the front desk at 3 pm, all guests kept waiting in adjacent sitting rooms for the 3 pm hour. Petty and bureaucratic process and not in the least customer friendly.

Nice hotel have stayed before but in the main building. The room we stayed in is overdue for a re vamp as the wallpaper was peeling off and badly marked and the bath panel needed replacing both of which I advised to reception.

Can’t fault our stay. Warm welcome at check in, very quick and easy to find our accommodation. Suite was bright, thoughtfully decorated and very very clean. All the information we needed about the hotel and services was either communicated directly or left in the room for us to read. Complimentary hot drinks, warm room and comfortable bed. Nicely equipped bathroom and a hairdryer which was really appreciated. Breakfast was really good and so quick. Never received a full English breakfast as quickly as that. Waiting staff were lovely. Easy and friendly check out. We won’t hesitate to return

Check in was awful, told to sit in the bar as the key card machine wasn’t working. Waited nearly an hour when the hotel receptionist decided to let us into our room with his master key. Not sure why this took an hour for him to realise this. We did get a complimentary glass of Prosecco, but only because I asked for it. Could only get wine or beer when we returned from the theatre! Room was dirty and breakfast was awful! Have stayed many times but never again!

The first room we were given was disappointing as it was next to noisy pub garden and was smaller and more cramped than advertised, thankfully the receptionist was great and moved us to a different room which was lovely and we had a great stay. Food at the nearby Cafe de soleil was delicious and hotel was convenient for wandering round the city and Cathedral

Place is fantastic been here before but I have not stayed in a cosy room before nothing was wrong with this room 58 other than me being 6ft plus kept hitting my head due to be in the loft eves of the hotel will have to ask if all the cosy room s are like this as planning to come back again and again through work commitments

Really nice room - was concerned that the hotel is on the main road but the rooms are around the back ina separate and modernised block. Beds good, plumbing excellent and breakfast quick and good. All the staff cheerful and pleasant. Nothing not to like

The staff were ok overall, some really pleasant and others clearly fed up! It's a really old building so challenging to manage. Our room was described as 'cosy' it was tiny with an awful view at the back of the fire escape and windows that didn't open properly. I felt very claustrophobic. The bathroom was a shower over a bath but so small it was hazardous trying to get out of. We are over 60 and the position of the towel rail meant it was what you grabbed to try to get out, after we both burnt ourselves they kindly turned it off. The location is great but a bit noisy but we had expected some noise but I don't think we'll stay again and definitely not in what they describe as a 'cosy' double- not my interpretation of cosy! Fortunately we were out a lot of our stay. Parking was ok but steep at £12 per day. If we visit Canterbury again and ot is likely we will, I'll do more research amd find an alternative, perhaps a little further out.

I have stayed in over 20 hotels this year and the most expensive booking turned out to be the worse experience. The check in experience was slow. We did a pre-check-in and then had to wait 20 minutes to be physically checked in when the person arrived… the general manager was not able to do it. For Bar staff could not muster up a greeting between them, no hello… no be with you in a minute… Guests were offered complimentary cheese and biscuits in the bar… we asked for them as they were not offered by the bar tender. Waited 5 minutes and he said they didn’t have any. Guess what, a few minutes after the offer had ended we say cheeses and biscuits coming out. Mind blowing!!! Terrible service so we left after one drink. However, the breakfast staff were very friendly.

Couldn't fault the staff who went above and beyond our requirements. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent ground floor accessible room. First class breakfast included. Evening happy hour was appreciated and enjoyed. Hotel itself is attractive and welcoming.

We were told they had given us an upgrade on arrival. The room itself was fine but unfortunately the heating in the room wasn't working. We raised our concerns with reception at 5pm, we went out at 6pm and explained at reception again that the room was very cold and the heating wasn't working. We were told they would look into it. At 9 30pm we returned to the room and still no heating it was freezing. We went to the bar to warm up and asked reception what they had done as it was still cold. He said he would find out and let us know. The first receptionist we spoke to arrived back and basically said there were no rooms free and nothing they could do. My husband asked for a electric heater as it was too cold to stay in that room, they said they don't have any. My husband pointed out that the receptionist was literally standing in front of one behind his desk. They eventually put it in our room. The reception staff really weren't interested in helping us

The Falstaff is conveniently located to the train station and downtown. We were able to store our luggage while we waited for our room and explore the neighborhood. The staff is helpful and kind. Breakfast is simple but adequate. Opt for a larger room, especially if there are two of you.

Right from the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a friendly welcome and efficient service on check-in, this stayed the theme throughout our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated - fun, plush and decadent - and has a cosy atmosphere. We had a relaxing glass of wine in the bar after dining out at Cafe Des Amis across the road (highly recommend). The hotel is surrounded by a handful of diverse and highly-rated eateries. Eggs were cooked to runny perfection in the morning and the staff were so on the ball and welcoming. We'll see you again on our next visit Falstaff!

The room was very nice, with no extra room to unpack clothing. The bed was comfortable. The shower was one of the largest and nicest we had compared to the other places we stayed. The full English breakfast was great and plentiful.

Potentially lovely hotel but things leaving a sour taste are.....£12 per day additional parking fee - £3 Fees for coffees at breakfast IF you want any thing other than a filter coffee - English breakfast - cant cook a fried egg - options were poached or scrambled and kitchen wont deviate from that - Wow!! Beware - Noisy street if you have a room at the front

Was very disappointed with breakfast on our second day. First one was fine although the veggie bacon wss very overdone. Second day gave up after waiting 45 mins. Tried to just have toast as main didn't tiurn up. However no bread , no yoghurt either. Tables were not cleared , shame to say it but a shambles.. Everthing else about the stay was very good.
