TV didnt work, Hot tub broken (and green with garbage) Room wasnt clean. The tub featured ither peoples hair. The parking lot was disgusting with trash and there was litteral feces on a window to a first floor room below ours.

originally booked for one night, ended up staying three with late checkout. The staff were easy to work with and rebooking and staying in the same room was super easy. They have real breakfast with waffles! The area is sketchy at night but you are more than safe within the property. During the day you have a massive park with a huge river as your playground. Downtown is a quick Uber ride away. The pool area is great in the summer.

First of all the pool and the spa did not work and was closed. Outside the room was completely dirty and worn out. In the area outside the hotel were homeless people and drug users that were asking for money. I asked the police that was called in by a guest from some reason if it safe for me to walk 1 mike to the old town and they answered : no.

The Rooms Were Filthy. My Son Also Booked a room. No electricity, Pool , Hot Tub Scum Algae floating in 1/4 filled pool. Someone selling drugs in parking lot as we were walking kids up to room. Unsafe. Waited to speak to manager who was on the premises for over an hour. Jon Desk Clerk said she was unavailable and would not refund or address problem by letting us speak to manager. False advertising very unexpected for expedia

The place was filthy. When I got to my non-smoking room, it smelled like pot. There were no clean towels and two dirty ones on the floor of the bathroom. The hotel also feels unsafe. They advertised having a pool but the water was green, growing things, and clearly not fit for swimming.

It was a horrible stay. The first room I was in had big cockroaches and I had to change rooms for the next night then the other room they put me in had bed bugs they're infested with bed bugs it's disgusting I have bites all over me and I itch horrible hotel to stay at and the surrounding area is bad too you can get robbed or mugged a lot of homeless people there.

I typically do not leave reviews on hotels/motels as I currently work in full service hotels for 30 years, but I have to say something about my stay at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Sacramento Downtown. We stayed at this motel just to have somewhere to lay my head down (we were driving from Seattle, WA to San Diego, CA). We have stayed in places this price range previously, but these other places were at least clean. The room was dirty (room 129,in front of the pool), in no other terms. There were dried up liquid stains on the front door, dark finger type smears on the latch lock, bath tub was dirty, red stains on base boards in bathroom, unpopped popcorn seeds on bathroom floor, all corners in bathroom had dirt and debris, stains on the vent above toilet, yellow stains on bathroom door.....and the icing on the cake...a live roach climbing on the wall above the double beds with an egg sack attached to it. There is an infestation in this room. I was too tired to complain about it. We left promptly in the morning. I have pictures of everything that I just detailed.

Not sure where to start outside of a maggot on my bed and piss sticking my shoes to the floor in front of the sink. We had to change rooms 3 times. My friends room had black mold on their pillow and blood stains on the bed. We were approved for late check out and someone came and aggressively woke us up demanding we had 15min to get out because they didn’t check their system to see we had late check out.

The room looked like it hadn’t been deep cleaned correctly after previous customers, hair stuck on the floor, used soap bar on sink, pink stuff along edges of tub, the shower sprayed water up towards the ceiling, and it was spraying over the shower curtain onto the toilet & floor, the toilet had a small leak & hair dryer didn’t work. Very bad stay for a Howard Johnson Hotel! I reserved because of the name, and expected a lot more.

My stay was absolutely horrible disgusting. The room was not clean. The bathtub was filthy roach crawling on the wall holes in the curtain. Since I was not able to take a bath for a shower. I had to do a little mini. Bath in The Basin, which ran over, was flooded nails in the wall. The bathroom sink busted upon checkout. I went directly to the office showed them. My pictures asked to have the person contact me. He never did. I want a 100% of my money back or I'm filing a claim with the health department which I've already done.

So the Howard Johnson is a nice property depending on what building you are placed in I was likely enough to be placed in building "A" which is the nicer side of the property and seems to be really well up kept overall for the single bedroom it was really well nice and really clean and while I've kept I was placed in the other building "D" as well I had two check-ins and building "D" seemed neglected, with that being said my stay here at the Howard Johnson was pretty acceptable and I did enjoy spending the night here to rest my head. I would probably be a little more selective in picking wood room and what building I would be placed in though.

Our stay at this hotel was fine -- not horrible, but not good either. They had a problem with our two-room reservation, so our kids weren't able to be in a room right next to us. The rooms were small and dark, nothing like the pictures online, though clean enough. Our neighbor had barking dogs and the smell of smoke in the elevator was so strong we could literally barely breathe. The best thing about the free breakfast was that it was free -- otherwise it was pretty "meh."

The hotel is in walking distance to Old Sacramento. We stayed on the third floor and had a nice river view. The price was great and the breakfast was simple but good. Unfortunately the Wifi did not work at all for me, not even in the lobby.

My stay at the Howard Johnson was was decently nice although for the room I was put in was a dual two beds one room the room had corks with it like the fridge didn't work there was a splat of red stains on the carpet that were questionable! 😅 especially building "D" because the property has segmented buildings and something with building "D" seems that that building is neglected even with the elevators seem neglected. and the reason why I'm able to say this is because I had another reservation and they put me in building "A" and building a was much nicer and a much better room and was well more up kept.

If you're cheap like me, this is a great place to stay! However the hotel sits in the tenderloin District which is full of homeless prostitution and crazy drugged out people. On almost any given night somebody's screaming and yelling at each other in the room below you or the room next to you. It's super noisy in the mornings with kids running down the platforms the maids clunking their carts along talking very very loud. Our front door to our room had a huge dent by the lock, it looked like someone had to use a police battery Ram to get into the room. So if that kind of gives you an idea of the neighborhood you're going to be experiencing. I hope this helps you. They have a nice breakfast for you, hot coffee was just great. The refrigerator in the room was Ice cold. Nice to have a microwave in the room as well. The bedding was very clean Limited towels. Oh and by the way we had to call the office three times over our week stay to get maid service. So it's a little lackluster, however if you want to save a buck this is the place to go.

I was told the $100.00 hold would not be sent to my bank if the room was found to be in good condition when I left. They put it through my bank anyway. My room was fine. I put a fraud on it so my bank cancelled it. I could not afford to have the $100.00 taken out of my account which then the bank takes about 5 to 7 days to replace. Thanks to my bank and not Howard Johnsons Hotel.

The lobby and food area was neat and clean. The room I checked into was not cleaned properly. I couldn’t use the bathtub because it looked like something backed up into it. I reported this to the Front Desk. I left out early to do some touring and when I returned in the evening I was locked out of my room. They couldn’t repair the bathtub issue so they changed my room. No one contacted me to tell and therefore had to move my belongings late. I chose this hotel because it was close to everything downtown. Unfortunately the this property did not meet the standards of Howard Johnson or Wyndham. They told me I could get a refund from Expedia for the first night.

I had a lovely stay staff was very considerate and kind they tend to your needs when you ask them to do something and what is very unusual that I find is the maintenance man for the workers that comes in services for any reason is so friendly and making sure everything is adequate I would recommend this for anybody and everybody

Service was deficient. Front desk personnel need significant training on how to treat guests and the procedures for check in. These kids had most things wrong, including charging twice for the security deposit, location of the rooms, and maintenance requirements. The hotel exteriors severely required a power wash.

If I can give 0 stars, I would. I never checked into my hotel room. I accidentally reserved a room at this hotel and still can't get my refund back. Even when I went in-person at the front desk to cancel, they said I can't. I have the reservation & itinerary numbers and still said they won't do it. Even the customer support from Expedia has been trying for 3 days now (and counting) to get my fee waived off but the "hotel manager isn't in right now". I don't trust this hotel to accustom for their customers' needs.

This hotel seems to be in the hood but not terrible. There were a couple of homeless guy by the entrance but they didn't bother anyone. The area altogether seems pretty safe. I traveled solo and walked from the hotel to old Sacramento with no issues

Everything was great. I loved my stay. Except when the lady on staff unplugged the breakfast at 9:40am. I did not get to eat. She did not care. I mentioned it only because my Blood sugar was very low and i needed just something. Any other time i wouldn't care. Everyone else was great.

There’s a security issue with the homeless population. During breakfast security is posted at the entrance of the lobby near the office which hosts the continental breakfast who essentially IDs you as an occupant. There was apparently a vagrant person that snuck through and started making breakfast. The housekeeper alerted security, security asked the person’s name and room number and when the guy couldn’t comply, a verbal and physical conflict escalated.

The staff at the front desk are nice.But breakfast are sucks.Breakfast time till 9am but when we artived at 8：20am.There are nothing left only toast.The dinning room is full of guests who are also waiting for the staff to refill the eggs and the batter for the waffle but the lady just kept playing her phone and do nothing.She only brought some eggs and refill the batter after 5 guests complain.She is not busy but just lazy!!!

It was dirty and sketchy, in a bad area. The first room we walked into smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, so we requested another room and the staff was very nice and helpful, but when we got to the second room and spent more time looking around, it was visibly dirty. We had a hard time sleeping and it was overall uncomfortable. Breakfast was surprisingly good though, with a good selection of food.
