Pretty basic, could do with some maintenance - otherwise cheap and walking distance to the octagon.

Thank you, I enjoyed my stay, great balcony and view, lovely comfortable beds and warm blankets for this time of the year. Enjoyed breakfast each morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Kingsgate to anyone, who is visiting Dunedin. This suited us well as we were out on day excursions, and nice to come back to lovely comfortable bed. Nga Mihi :)

The bathroom sliding door couldn’t be closed, you could see marks all down it where people had tried to force it to move. The shower was cold unless turned to the highest setting where it would change in and out from warm and boiling water.

Be warned to expect $25 fee for parking. This was not spelled to us when it should have been. Restaurant/bar is closed except for breakfast. Dine-in room service was available but very poor. Lasagne was small and luke warm; pie looked and tasted as if been in warmer all day. Desserts were lovely. Elec jug needed replaced as was in a disgusting state. Replaced with new one very quickly.
