I really don't know where to start. I do not normally leave poor reviews preferring not to leave one at all. The owner is on holiday and the hotel is, understandably, short staffed. No restaurant available in the evening and no residents bar. No staff on reception just keys laid out. Room 4 (a superior room) was small and dated with overbearing wall decor. A main light plus two overbed spotlights made relaxing difficult. Bedside lights would have been better. We were there during a heatwave. No room fans in the room and, as commented previously, no receptionist just a mobile number incase of emergencies. The worst thing was the room ceiling. There were two "rack" panels screwed to the ceiling (possibly due to a serious ceiling sag or previous water leak) and signs of damp and the start of a mould issue over the toilet/bathroom door. I have pictures available. If anyone had been available we would have asked for a different room or refused to stay. The room did not match the illustrations on your site at all. The only plus point was the breakfast which was very good. Point of information, when asked who was in charge in the owners absence, we were told there were only 2 staff on site. For £244 for two nights it is most definitely NOT value for money.

We booked the Nyton because we wanted to be near the centre of Ely but not near the main streets. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the centre and in a quiet road. There is a large garden bordered by trees and very pleasant to sit out in. Our room was well equipped, beds were comfortable, and the refreshment tray was well supplied. The room was cleaned daily and the beverages etc replenished. The owner was very helpful and the staff likewise. breakfast was in the very pleasant dining room and the cooked offering was both appetising and served hot. The whole breakfast selection was very good. We ate in the restaurant the fist evening and were very pleased with the menu and food. We were glad we booked the hotel.

Would love to be able to give a higher rating because there is lots of amenities in room the staff were friendly room serviced daily free WiFi lovely big garden birds and trees and in a great position to explore Ely. It was quiet and dark. Unfortunately the place stinks of stale cigarettes which as a non smoker with heart and lung conditions is very off-putting and means I wouldn't stay here again. The room was very dusty with questionable stains on the carpet and linen and yellowing paintwork. There was black mould in the shower. My bathroom was tiny but adequate. The bed base looked like it was made of wooden pallets. It is rather dated and in need of a deep clean and a refurbishment. It could be excellent with a little tlc.
