The New Inn by Roomsbooked

The only worthwhile unique aspect of the hotel was its age and character of the building like many other buildings in Gloucester city centre. I really do not understand how Expedia are not embarressed when sending their clients here. It is apparant that a duty of care on behalf of us has not been undertake. Conclusion: (I apologise for this being first) 1. This hotel does not want overnight hotel guests. 2. Shocking that Expedia are willing to offer this venue. It is a pity that there is not options for photographs While in our room the music was so loud it felt like being in a rave dance club from 4.30 until 11pm. We were chased out of the room by this. Returning at 9pm the only people in the bar were the receptionist abd a barman wearing a pink cowboy hat dancing behind the bar. While in our room we increased the television sound level until it was uncomfortable to compete. During the time 9 - 11 I popped down to the bar to see no customers and only the pink cowboy hat dancing. This hotel is simply run for the staff and not the guests. From 11pm until 2.25am there was constant noise from people moving about and doors banging. This started again around 5am! 8.30am the hotel was woken with the exceptionally loud dance music as a global alarm call. Why? The room huge patch of ceiling paper hanging down adjacent to the highlighting the damp underbeath it. There is a photograph. Bathroom well laid out and ideal. Why are there cracked floor tiles and grout missing?

Booked this hotel as it was advertised as having air conditioning and I knew it was going to be a hot week. No air conditioning insight. Small fan in room that was broken. Hot rooms. Don’t stay here in the summer if you want to sleep.

This is a beautiful hotel, comfortable and wonderfully historic. My only disappointment was the loud and raucous karaoke on Saturday night that went on until midnight - while recognising that the Hotel is a business my personal feeling is that midnight is too late to finish such things.

It was an intriguing building. Rooms well furnished and heated. The staff were very helpful and friendly. BUT not a suitable place for elderly or those with mobility problems. An outside flight of stairs, which could be slippery in wet weather, led to first floor and then more internal steep stairs our room. There were no grab rails in the shower. Food was well prepared especially the breakfast but menu in evening was limited and in spite of signs there was no real ale. A further problem which the hotel cannot help is the parking. We had to park 5 minutes away. We knew this but did not realise that the area around hotel is pedestrianised so people and luggage cant be dropped off. It was also complicated finding way from carpark to hotel so clearer instructions would be useful.

Historical property. Character. Great price. Lots of great pubs restaurants and shops close by. Difficult to find parking and getting to it during the day. Better to arrive late afternoon.

Omg what can i say not being told about karaoke 9 till 12 noise till god knows what time in the morning won't be staying here again yes its a pub but would have been lije to have been told what was going on would not recommend

The New Inn is old - build in the 1400s - but the rooms are fresh and modern. There is no lift so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility problems, but my brother who walks with a stick managed and loved it. The atmosphere is great and the many bars and function rooms lively. It's in the centre of the City which was perfect for our stay. It's said to be haunted, in which case we missed the ghost!

The hotel was very quaint being 15th century. Check in and out very easy. Breakfast was good with a good choice. Downside was no immediate parking and multi storey parking approximately a 5 minute walk .

No AC in the room and my window opened up over a waist transfer station. Very smelly and quite loud in the early morning. A lot of flys because there was no screen in the window. They kept telling me they were going to fix the Wi-Fi, but they never did. Overall, it was quite rundown, smelly, and less than clean.

Hair dryer didn’t work, when my wife rang the 24hr booking helpline the reply was what’s up, poor people skills and still no hair dryer. Mould around the shower base, didn’t look pretty.

Very charming and interesting historic building, well-located in central Gloucester. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was tasty and very affordable. My room was clean, well-sized, comfortable and cosy.

For £90 the room was scruffy, the seat disgusting I had to cover with a towel to sit on and not worth more than £40 for the night. I'm not one of those clowns that takes pictures of minor imperfections but this room was very run down, wall paper was hanging off the walls, they had moved a bed with a headboard and left all the old paint. I wouldn't stop here again.

I was not happy with this property. I have photos to back my review. The carpet was dirty. There was a great hole in the wall opposite our room. Could not open the wardrobe as there was no handle on it. The toothpaste holder was hanging off the wall.

A very poorly decorated room. An apprentice painter would have done better. The windows were filthy. Bed was okay. Bathroom excellent.

Staff was polite on meeting us. Absolutely the the quirkiness of the hotel. Room was clean. Food was lovely and hot. We will be hopefully coming back in the summer months.

Not at all like the ad. Room smells. furniture beyond scrapping, dead flies everywhere. Bathroom.. disgusting. Staff nice but there was nothing they could do. This is why people go to Premier In! At least you know what you get. Asking for refund

The staff is amazing. The breakfast at a small extra fee was delicious. It is in the middle of the historic downtown Gloucester which I hope the city continues to renovate. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating is that the WiFi is spotty in the rooms. The owners have embraced their history; the ambience is charming and looks like it is from a different time.

The room was appalling, nothing like the images shown online - bed springs broken, paint peeling off the wall, just awful but the staff did their best and moved us to a more acceptable room.

Hair dryer not working, no plug in wash hand basin Paid for extension to checkout time and was charged for room again. Bed springs shot on one bed, compensated for by a duvet over mattress. Very steep stairs making ascent difficult. Clean but on the whole very shabby. Reccomend potential guests inspect room before making payment. Not a pleasant experience, will not be returning.

The photos make the New Inn look very attractive, in a quirky, Olde Worlde way. Don't be taken in. Best advice: avoid. No hot water, no plug for the sink, showers barely worked. When it did, water temperature went from scalding hot to freezing cold. Nothing in between, except for a second or so during transition. This was in room 114. They gave mea key to 102, to have a shower. It was a way awaw but just the same. I arrived too late to eat the evening before. The bar there was completely empty so I went down the road to where I'd heard music. Returned around 10.45: the bar was shut. Despite advertised as being open till 11.00 & I being resident. Apologies the following day and was offered a complimentary breakfast. By the time I was showered and dressed, the offer had been withdrawn. The place is in the city centre and is walking distance to the resin station. It coukd be great. Its management has chosen not to be. In the pub down the road, when I said where I was staying, there were knowing looks, mods and smiles. They agreed the rooms were competitively priced but said there was a reason why. They were right.

Booked a night at this hotel as a treat as we had both had a tough week at work… we may as well stayed at home. The room was directly above the bar, which was packed, the karaoke started at 9 and carried on until midnight. The noise was so loud, it was unbearable. At no point was this mentioned when booking…. We’re both up for people enjoying themselves but we would not have booked this hotel if we had known. All we wanted was a lovely quiet night. This SHOULD be at least mentioned in the description. The breakfast was ok but not very hot. The hotel itself is steeped in history and the rooms are quirky with its uneven floors and walls, this is why we booked it, but it could do with a complete refurb, It’s such a shame that the loud karaoke spoils it. I swear the room we stayed in was haunted lol Would we recommend it… NO. We will not be back

Big room with a big bathroom, which was a lovely change from other accommodations I've been to in the past. The staff were very lovely and the WiFi connection was fast and stable throughout my stay.

We had a wonderful stay at The New Inn, very friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous listed building, we stayed in the Lady Jane Grey suite with a massive 4 poster bed and a few quirky charms that you hope to find in a building as old as this. We highly recommend this hotel

No wifi connection no microwave no fridge

The staff were amazing! Really friendly, done everything they could to make sure you had what you wanted or needed when it came to breakfast or dinner times when dining. Only small issue was how noisy it was from the town side in the mornings with cars etc driving up and down with deliveries as we had a room right at the front of the building, would had been happier with a room at the back with less noise unless the windows could be redone to reduce sound

The appearance of a charming and characterful establishment quickly turned into a thoroughly underwhelming experience. Strict adherence to the 2pm check-in time was unnecessarily inflexible, especially when guests arrive early after long journeys. This lack of hospitality was the first of many concerns. The bar area, which could have been a continuation of the hotel’s historic charm, felt out of place with its overly modern decor. Additionally, signs advertising “real ales” were misleading, as none were actually available. We paid £170 for a room, yet this did not include breakfast or parking. While the rooms were reasonably comfortable, they were extremely basic, and we've since noticed the same rooms now being advertised at nearly half the price we paid. The courtyard was a welcome respite from the busy High Street, but sadly this was the only real highlight. A friend’s room was shockingly below standard, with dirty walls, short curtains that didn’t cover the windows, cracks and holes in the ceiling, and an overall atmosphere that felt more like a hostel than a hotel.In another room, one side of the mattress was completely collapsed due to broken springs, making for a very uncomfortable night. Worse still, we found dirty tea cups and even a bloodstain on the bedding.Breakfast was acceptable, but one of the orders was incorrect. By the time the issue was resolved, the rest of our group had all finished.

Staff was polite on meeting us. Absolutely the the quirkiness of the hotel. Room was clean. Food was lovely and hot. We will be hopefully coming back in the summer months.

Lovely stay, provided travel for for my baby and we’re reallly accommodating in letting me use reception to leave buggy. Friendly staff

Great atmosphere, very old pub, great rooms. Kai in the bar checked us in & was bery helpful with information.

Lovely old inn loads of character. Rooms are basic but clean and the bathroom was epically large. Bar food good and a few different options. Couldn't be easier for the town centre and train and the staff were helpful and friendly

Right in the centre of the city

I have to say what a great central location, could not ask for more! Woke up a few times during my stay on both evenings, night porter wandering around at 4:30, kitchen popping on filters at 6:45 in the morning! Drain broke outside the bedroom window! I love stopping on old character building love the history. Staff lovely in the bar both days very chatty made to feel welcome. Room as much as it's cheap enough and cheerful the room could do with some love, badly painted almost everywhere, marks on most of the walls which is such a shame, owns could possibly do with having a look around at some of the rooms. As much as I've stayed on two occasions, it's just a shame the décor let's the place down.

A nice period hotel in a good location. If you like history and historical buildings this place is for you.

It was a really interesting building that is about 500 years old. Close to the center of the city, walking distance to the train and bus stations and pubs.

Lovely historic building for an overnight stay with ample food able for breakfast. Room allocated to look out onto car park which was noisy due to drunk people walking by to get home and deliveries to local shops in the morning. This is a shame as affected the weekend

The property is centrally located. It is a quirky old place packed with history. Exactly what we wanted.

No parking available, no food served through the week, noise from people outside etc, the windows don’t close properly

Check-in was slow including requiring to fill out a form and presenting identification documentation. There was no spoon or stirrer with the beverage facilities in the room - I have never met this in any other accommodation - upon querying this at reception, the young woman there asked: " do you need one? " before fetching a spoon. Breakfast was not as good as under the previous management, it not being buffet style - will this improve when the restaurant is re-opened after the present restoration? During the heavy rain on the Sunday, I found that rain was dripping from the upper window frame inside, bouncing off the sill and causing a damp patch on the carpet adjacent to the window ( I did report this to the management on that day .). The best part about the property was the convenience to the venue and I liked the free wi-fi.

Had some lovely old features. Building could do with a total upgrade. The windows in our room didn't fully close which made the room cold. The heating wasnt on. Due to the windows not closing properly we got woken up at 6.30 am by road sweepers. Breakfast was cold on both mornings we stayed. Was a buffet style breakfast which i thought was nice considering it was cold.

Hotel is full of character, staff are great and the bar and breakfasts are superb.
